hi, sorry for this lame question, just wanna make sure. do i really have to put NA in every question that is not applicable in DS 156, DS 157, DS156K, i noticed they will just remove it in the end after. however i already printed it, so can i just put NA or N/A using my own handwriting? will they allow that or i have to answer and print new forms again? thanks in advance..

my fiance also filed last march 17, 2011 and received our NOA1 March 21. unfortunately we got RFE last June 14.. well. it's also our fault we forgot to include letter of intent to marry. my bad!
anyways, congrats to those who were APPROVED! cheers!

Don't send in any original evidence unless specifically requested. Sent only photocopies. Anything you send them may not be returned, unless you make a specific request, and they grant the request.
thank you, will convince my fiance to just send the photocopy of it. thanks again.

hi, we have the same situation. we also received RFE and it's because we lack the letter of intent to marry and requirement that petitioner and beneficiary met in person. i already sent the documents we lack to my fiance(petitioner) in hawaii. another similarity we have is that my fiance became american citizen only last march 2011.
now my question is( to those who can answer): do you think the USCIS might question my fiance(the petitioner) because he is planning to pass his original philippine passport(he has to send it to USCIS coz the passport stamps are in it and it's an evidence that he really went to visit me last february 2011 which is a proof that we met in person within the last 2 years before filing K1 visa.)? by the way he has a new passport when he became an american citizen that's why he is thinking it's ok for him to pass his original philippine passport(instead of a photocopy of it) since the USCIS will also return it afterwards? do you think it's the right thing to do? thanks in advance..

Yes. the more evidence the less RFE.
thanks a lot!

They really need proof of meeting within last two years. My fiance and I first knew each other when we were little kids at school, but that doesn't really count. It is our meeting again three times in 2010 that counts for the K1.
Sounds like you have enough evidence with what you have within the last two years. Best wishes..
i agree with you, we really need to provide proof of meeting within the last 2 years. i'm glad my fiance' never failed to visit me every year for the past 5 years of long distance relationship. so i think it would be a good evidence. the last time we were together was last february 2011. thanks again, i really appreciate it!

write the date on the back of the picture. What you can also do is print multiple pictures on a sheet (say 4) and date them on the bottom of each picture. Also, what you might want to look into, if you used a digital camera, is the time-stamp settings on it. On my camera the time-stamp (the date and time of the pictures) is suppressed, but if you turn it on it would appear even in old pictures which were taken when the option was suppressed.
Good luck.
thanks for the suggestion! about the digicam we used- yes it was turned off but i might not recover it since i have erased all the pictures in my digicam after i saved or transferred it in my laptop. maybe i'll just put the date manually at the back of every picture... thanks again

we also received the hard copy of RFE today and we need to provide:
1. a letter of intent to marry
2. petitioner & beneficiary have met in person secondary: film dated photograph together.
i just wanna clarify if the evidences we will provide should be proofs that we have met within 2 years? how about our boarding pass. itinerary & hotel receipts when we had a trip to another country last year 2007?
will it help? or we should just pass evidences from year 2009 to 2011? sorry if i have so many questions. TIA

@ jameugiekaxavilon & otey918: thanks so much.. godbless you all

hi there! our pictures too have no dates n time ..i just edited them and put digitalized time and date ...our digicam wasn't set for the date n time ..but when i fixed it, it shows the exact date n time when they were taken ..so i followed exactly the details of each pictures. we had an RFE but not with the pictures i edited:)
hi, thanks a lot! may i ask how did you fix it? through adobe photoshop? so you mean it can be edited? i noticed that you also have RFE? specifically, what do you need to submit? TIA
@AJ & NINA: I was also surprised, i'm glad we almost have the same relationship history. i thought i was the only one with this situation. so both of you are filipino? like me, my boyfriend is also a filipino, he just became an american citizen last march 2011..

@jay-kay : he visited me here in the philippines last february 2011, he is planning to pass his passport(with stamps on it), boarding pass. will this be enough as evidence? we have pictures together, but there's no date on it. or we could just put the date at the back of the picture?

@gabe & girlyn, uverseman, reymets10, southcalhog, andie:
hey guys! i'm so happy, my fiance received the letter today and it says: 1. we need to provide a letter of intent to marry, 2. requirement & beneficiary have met in person secondary: film dated photograph together.
just wanna ask if we really need to pass pictures with date on it? since he visited me last february 4-15, 2011, but our pictures doesn't have date on it. thanks in advance.

Don't think of it as affecting your petition....they just need to be sure they have all the documentation and its submitted correctly. Could be as simple as forgetting to sign the bottom page... hopefully its a very quick and easy fix...at least you know they are working on your petition! God bless you as well
thank you for your kind and encouraging words. i really appreciate it! you are right, i should be more optimistic. i shouldn't panic or worry. now i can sleep without worrying.(it's already 3am here in the philippines).
thanks again!

@EAbbas: thank you so much for replying. we haven't received the letter, but we are anticipating that we'll receive it by monday since it's still sunday in US. i really wish this won't affect our petition. thanks again. godbless...

i'm so depressed. i checked the uscis.gov site and our case was updated to REQUEST FOR EVIDENCE (status). what does it mean? do we have to provide more specific evidence like postpaid telephone bills, chat logs? we didn't provide postpaid telephone bills since we only use prepaid cards to communicate and also through skype calls.
is there a possibility that our petition might be denied if we don't provide this evidences specially telephone bills? we can provide chat logs and email but we don't have post paid telephone bills. hope someone could give us advice.
so depressing, im crying right now. if they only knew, we'll be celebrating our 9th anniversary as boyfriend-girlfriend(5 years long distance relationship)this month.
thanks in advice....

@messybrown hair, xxxwabbiexxx, elianalovesmatt: thank you so much for all your words of encouragement!
i really appreciate it.
Now i felt relieved. I just have to pray harder and of course, wait patiently as always..
-
hi, i need your help.
is it true that if you pass post paid telephone bills as evidence it is a strong proof and most likely the petition will be approved?
i'm kinda worried because we don't have this as a proof since we only use prepaid cards for telephone calls and we usually use skype as our form of communication.
my fiance' only passed pictures, birthday and christmas cards, letters, and also receipts that he is giving me financial support every month.
now i'm really worried because they might disapprove our petition for lack of evidence?
USCIS received the petition last march 21, 2011 and our current status is for initial review.
i also have a friend last year and it only took her 1 month and she received immediately a letter for medicals. it took her only 4-5 months and everything was settled and approved. i was thinking the telephone bills might have helped their petition because it is a strong evidence?
what do you think? thanks in advance.
-
@EAbbas= thanks for the reply
:)
-
hi everyone! my fiance also filed the Petition march 17, i checked their website and our Case Status is for Initial Review.
just wanna ask if how long will they review our papers and how many months before we could receive an update from USCIS?
hope the experts here can answer..thanks in advance

@coconuts: oh i see.. thank you so much! i guess i have to wait patiently. if i was able to wait for 5 years then i guess 5-6 months is just easy.
