Hi,

I am looking at filing for my AOS and I know that we will have to move states before it is completed (my husband is in the military and is currently TDY till March). Should we just wait on filing the AOS or is the system set up to support moving mid stream?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Hi,

We got married in October, well within the 90 day period, but I am only just starting to file for the Adjustment of Status. I am getting a little concerned that I am too late. Did I need to do this before my I-94 expired or am I still okay if my visa is still valid?

I would recommend that you renew your passport before it expires using the simplified form and mail it in.

If you need to keep your passport for the AOS process, you can file a new application for a Canadian passport via mail.

Yeah, Montreal is unpredictable. Don't book anything until you have your Visa in hand. It only took me four days to get my Visa back, some people wait weeks.

Try calling DOS and asking. But, I'd suggest calling them a few times and take an average of what they tell you. One might tell you one thing, while another says something different.

And have you tried using your reference number from the CSC site on DHL.ca?

Unfortunately, Montreal has been going through a slight backlog for the past few months where it's been taking longer than usual to get the passport back. Just stay active with calling DOS and checking the DHL site. Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, I have been calling them pretty much every day and they tell me basically the same thing. It's still being processed at the consulate and has not yet been issued. I did try checking the DHL site last week but with DOS telling me it hasn't been printed I haven't checked again. I'll do that now...

Hey guys, I'm starting to freak out. My interview was on the 8th, they told me I was approved, and as of now it is still pending at the Consulate. Is there anything I can do or any way I can find out what the delay is? I emailed the consulate over a week ago about it and have heard nothing (probably because they say they won't give status) - is there any other way for me to talk to a person that may know whats going on??

Unless they told you to submit additional documentation at the interview or, you're birth country is different then Canada you're not in AP, or very unlikely so. Here's a link to athread a few pages back. Read Luvillionois's posts.

Hey, I am on day 9 coming up, when I called the DOS today they said it has not been printed yet and I am in AP. What does that MEAN? I thought approved actually meant we were almost there. I sent the IV unit an email earlier today, hoping they come back with something soon. I'm getting tired of this and being homeless

Just wondering. If my interview goes happily and all is well, will they be taking my passport at the consulate? If so - does anyone have an idea of how long it takes to get it back?

My Fiance is in the military and we had our 129F expedited - it's moving pretty quickly. Time from filing to my interview date is just around 5 months.

I'm going down on Friday with a one way ticket (*GASP), but I am hoping that a letter from my employer, my interview appointment and an invitation to my engagement party in Toronto is sufficient - but I'm pretty paranoid!

Does the photo you are trying to upload meet the photo requirements? I had that issue and in the end I went to a place that takes passport photos with an option for a digital copy - that one worked for me.

If you dont have any prior convictions, you can just get online here http://www.torontopolice.on.ca/recordsmanagement/clearance.php and get a clearance letter. you can pick it up from a few different stations. It took about a week total.

I can totally relate... we waited 3 months for packet 3 and never received it in the mail, until we called DOS. *SIGH*

DOS told us that it was mailed out to us " a while ago" so we wasted many weeks of waiting

Sent in packet 3 last Friday and arrived yesterday (Monday). Planning to call DOS again in a few days to see if I can book the medical and interview.

Anyone know the process for security checks for Toronto? Can I start on that without receiving packet 4?

I am going on vacation the first 2 weeks of July then I think I'm giving my 2 weeks notice the day I get back and then moving all my stuff to my moms to wait it out. I'm seriously hoping to get my appointment moved to the same week as you - I'm trying to go meet Mike in Germany before Aug 13th and I doubt I'll have my passport back in time. I too am over extended in my vacation time this year, I'm taking almost all of the July vacation unpaid... it's going to be tight! I would totally consider doing the quit after the interview, but I REALLY want to go to Germany and I need to wrap up my apartment by August 1 if I'm not going to work all of August...it's just too expensive to keep!

Well, its a gamble... but I have 2 weeks vacation booked in the middle of July for a camping trip and if I take them only to come back and work for like 2 weeks before quitting, I'll owe back a lot of hours due to how vacation works at my current job... it's barely any different to quit before I leave for camping and just bank on things working out... I'm about 90% leaning towards quitting for mid-July as it stands right now... plus, when I get back from camping I'll have a couple days to finish packing up our apartment and get all my stuff into my friends garage... and I guess get comfy on her couch until I have my passport in hand and maybe visit a few friends/family that I won't see much of after I move.

But if the vacation pay weren't such a factor I would've given my two weeks notice the day I got back from the interview because its the responsible thing to do... apparently.

Keep checking back if you want an earlier date - I managed to get one for Aug 8th at 8:01 ... and I'll keep checking in hopes i can move it 2 weeks to the left! I'm pretty excited and theres not much time left!

I booked for Aug 25th at 8:31 (might keep checking to get earlier, but I am thrilled to have a date booked)

I didn't include them in packet 3, I thought I was supposed to just bring them to the interview. They included this in the email:

DHL is the only option provided there, but it doesn't say if it's mandatory or not, just that its free.

Unless they specifically say in the letter DHL is mandatory then you can use any other. If they request DHL then you have to comply. Make sure you add a cover letter with your MTL0000000 case number, write clearly it's for the IV Unit and include a photocopy of their request.

I am surprised they're asking you to provide photos prior to the interview. Did you forget to include them in your Packet 3?
