  1. Hey did you resend the e-mail since you didn't receive an auto-reply? I just sent my supporting documents for the IV and I did not get an auto-reply either. Maybe cause its Monday and the servers are busy. Should I resend again? Booooy today is a bad day. Nothing is going right for me today. :help:

Anyone else doing EP who didn't get an auto-reply?

    :help::help::help:

No, I did not resend the email. My email went out on Saturday. The next day (Monday) I got an email from NVC saying that "We received electronic documentation for this case. The documentation will be reviewed and uploaded to your electronic case file." So, just give NVC a few days.

BTW, I think the IV document (DS-260) needs to be sent by beneficiary.

  2. I was expecting OPTIN to be accepted yesterday but it wasn't so I gave them a call and they told me to resend it and I did. Well, today I received the OPTIN from the previuos one. It took 14 business days. I guess I should have waited another day to call lol. I resent my AOS package and I am still waiting for a police cert to come in snail mail. Once that comes I can send the supporting documnet for the IV.

I had seen that your name was Lindsay and I was still calling you Saylin all this time. Hey you can always have it as a middle name. :D Although we are coming to the end of our visa journey (at least the green card part), should we keep calling you Saylin or change it?

Did you get the "NVC Electronic Email Account Auto Response" when you RESENT your AOS package?

My OPTIN was accepted yesterday. Then I (petitioner) re-sent the AOS supporting documents to NVCElectronic@state.gov. My wife (beneficiary) re-sent the DS-260 supporting document too. Surprisingly, this time we did not get the "NVC Electronic Email Account Auto Response", while we got one when we first submit those documents.

  3. Thanks! So happy I finally got the date.

I have a friend that had the same issue with getting an error about a gap. You have to have the end month and start month to be in the same month. So just put address two ending in August 2010 and address one starting in August like you have it already. When my friend did that, the issue was solved.

You just need to send in a copy of the present passport. I also have an expired passport from years ago, but they don't want that. They just want to see your current passport.

Thanks, Saylin & xelance. Will do as you suggested. I will submit the DS-260 and email the support documents tomorrow.

  4. Saylin, I see you got your interview date. Congratulations to you and all others got interview dates. Almost end of the tunnel.

I almost finished the DS-260 and all support documents except two issues:

    1. My wife's old apartment lease terminated on July 31, 2010, her new apartment lease started on August 3, 2010. She had to stay in friend's place for a few days till the apartment was ready. So, at the DS-260 page of "present and previous address information", I filled in like:

    Address 1, Aug, 2010 ~ present

    Address 2, Jun, 2009 ~ Jul, 2010

Then there is a message shown "There is a gap in the dates you have provided. Please include ALL addresses where you have lived since the age of sixteen. The national Visa Center may ask you to confirm unexplained gaps in residency."

I am afraid this might trigger an RFE. But I have no idea how to deal with it. Any one has experience or work around?

    2. My wife has an expired passport and replaced by the present valid passport. Should we send biographic data pages for both passports, or just the present valid passport?

    Thanks alot.

  5. Saylin, called NVC again and the operator gave me the beneficiary ID. Thanks alot. The Wiki doc of NVC for Montreal beneficiaries is awesome!!!

    1. In the body of OPTIN email, is it enough to just include petitioner & beneficiary's info as described in the Wiki doc? Or should we add a few line to explain that this email is for OPTIN?

    2. Although I got the NVC#, IIN number, when I try to login to payment portal, it shows "Sign in fail". Should I wait for a few days?

  6. My wife is from China but she is Canada PR and stays in Canada since 2010. The NVC case number starts with MTL. I think Montreal is the right one.

Just got off the phone. NVC operator gave me the IIN number, but no beneficiary ID. She told me the IIN number and beneficiary ID are same. Is it right?

The NVC lady also told me that I cannot send in OPTIN email until they notify me. Is it right? Saylin, I saw you sent your OPTIN email the same day you got your case number.

We used a lawyer to file I-130. But I would like to handle NVC step by myself using EP to speed up the whole process. I was told to send an email to NVC to remove the lawyer as choice-of-agent and list myself as the choice-of-agent. Anyone has such experience?

BTW, how to fill in the timeline? Thanks.

  7. Good evening, everyone.

I am a new member of this forum. I learned a lot useful tips from this thread. Thank you, Saylin and all other contributors.

After almost 7 months waiting, our case was approved on March 2,2011. I just got off the phone to know that NVC received our case from USCIS-TSC, but has not logged into their system yet. I have two questions regarding our case:

    1. My wife's nationality is People's Republic of China. But she is a permanent resident of Canada for 2.5 years and stays in Canada since June 2009. Which consulate will she be interviewed? Montreal in Canada or Guangzhou in China?

    2. We used a lawyer to file for I-130. If I want to do the NVC/consular process by myself using electronic processing, how do I deal with “Choice of Agent”? As far as I know, NVC will not send out DS-3032 form because our lawyer will be the default “choice of Agent”.

Thanks very much for your response.
