Ahhhh I am so happy for you!!! I know how nervous you were so am so excited that it went smoothly
What a great late birthday present!!!
And sorry Larry86 this is the teacher in me, but it's congraTulations! Common mistake though!
-
Ugh I am sorry that is really annoying...I wasnt expecting to have anything until August either but luckily its not interfering with any trips we have! How easy is it to reschedule?
-
Got an email this morning saying that yesterday USCIS mailed us our date for our interview to be on July 20th...Ill let you know when the letter officially arrives!
-
If you applied for Employment Authorization and Advance Parole and received your EAD card then you have received the document. USCIS made a change a few months back to combine the two. If you look at your EAD card then you will see it written at the bottom "SERVES AS I-512 ADVANCE PAROLE"
My husband and I just came back from England using his advance parole and we had a bit of an issue in customs. Unfortunately the officer he went to was no aware of the change and kept asking for the AP document which obviously he didnt have because it doesnt exist anymore! So they sent him to secondary where luckily the agent there knew of the change and he was good to go....You will be allowed back in (providing you didnt overstay more than 180 days?) but just be aware that not all the immigration officers are informed of the change!

Hey Guys,
Congrats to everyone whose case is moving along! We just got back from a trip to the UK for my husbands best friends wedding using advance parole and wanted to fill you in on what happened when we returned to the US. FYI for any of you who plan on using it, NOT ALL THE IMMIGRATION OFFICERS know that USCIS changed the Advance Parole from a letter to a dual card with the EAD, my husband stood in line for an hour then was told he needed to get out and fill out another form and get back in line. By the time he got up to the officer again they sent him to secondary because they said he needed the letter ( but as you all know its just the EAD card with "Serves as Advance Parole" written on it....He had to wait while they dealt with two other passengers for an hour until finally the officer in there saw him. Luckily this one was aware of the new document that was being used and he apologized to my husband, had a nice little chat about growing up in CT (where we live) and then sent him on his way....In the end all was fine but it was a bit nerve-wracking seeing as I was waiting in the baggage claim for him not knowing what was going on! Anyways just wanted to let you know all know to make sure you bring as much paperwork as possible if you are traveling out of the country because apparently USCIS doesn't communicate with its employees....Bureaucracy at its best!

Congrats on all the EAD's coming through!!
And Liz, my fellow Connecticuter, Congrats on the Interview letter!!!
-
Just got my Husbands EAD/AP combo card in the mail today!! Such a relief....No text or email notification either so it was a surprise
-
Dobolo,
I was wondering the same thing about the NBC...Everyone keeps associating the fast EAD/AP's with Cali but they are all processed at the same place so its probably just coincidence .....Congrats though! Hoping outs comes this week otherwise we are gonna have to take a chance on an Infopass appt for expedite :/
-
Dobolo,
Where are you filing from?? That is good news to hear! Gives the rest of us who are still waiting for EAD/AP hope!!
-
But what about our EAD and AP's ?? Alot of us on the East Coast are still waiting and we did Biometrics earlier than some people who have gotten it in the West Coast...Im starting to panic bc we need our AP in 3 weeks!!
-
Haha liz....that is so annoying! Has anyone has a successful call where they were able to speak someone useful?
-
If we call USCIS to check on our case status can we speak to a representative or is it just an automated response telling us the same useless information that the online case status does??
-
hey sweetie, i know it is out of the march forum, etc xD but have you checked the processing times for hartford local office? it's like 6 months behind the current month.. so my interview appointment would probably be this july..im just assuming tho...
heyy girl, even though Hartford is our local office, all of our paperwork is being processed at MSC...right now the time line says 3 months for EAD and AP and 5 months for AOS...at this point though all we really want/need is the AP...hope things start moving for you keep me posted
-
Thats good to hear! The office where my husband did his biometrics was who told us it would take 3-4 weeks for the FBI to process them...His appt would have been today but we did an early walk in on the 1st...Maybe we will try to call tomorrow to check the status
-
Yeah Lily is right...If you notice on the processing times, it states that if they are currently issuing a document in less time than their projected goal that you will see the time in months...So for example it says 3 months for EAD/AP but which means they are issuing most of them in less than 3 months...Also I heard that biometrics takes 3-4 weeks to go through processing with the FBI so you shoud start to see some activity soon!
-
USCIS will not be affected by the Government shutdown because it not run on Government money but instead by all of the filing fees we all get to pay
I was worried too but did a lot research to find out for sure!
So everyone can rest easy!
-
Thats true...Good Point...Either way I hope for all of our sake that everything starts to speed up! Fingers crossed!
-
Yeah I know they aren't processing centers but they have to send the information out so I would think I lighter case load would affect how quickly things move along...That is good to know about the EAD/AP though I am not concerned about the GC coming any sooner its really the AP that we are worried about!
-
Hi Liz!! I thought we were the only Connecticut-ers on here as well
The East Hartford office was empty when we went this afternoon. He was able to walk right up and complete the biometrics in 15 minutes. We were a little worried because everyone seems to have a different experience depending on the office they go to (and we live in SW CT so the drive wasn't exactly around the corner!) but we were pleasantly surprised.
Do you guys think or know if the location of the office you have your biometrics done at effects processing time?
-
My husband was able to do a successful biometrics walk-in today at the East Hartford office!!
Has anyone who has done walk-ins seen a benefit from it yet? We need to get AP by May 24 and even though the biometrics isn't for the AP we are hoping it helps speed up the processing of everything!
-
Thats awesome to hear....We were also thinking about trying to do a walk-in for my husbands biometrics...his appt date is April 11 but we want to try to speed up the process bc we really need his EAD and AP in May!! Did you feel it sped everything up?? Did they give you a hard time at all??
-
What was your experience with the walk-in Biometrics???? My husband just got his appt in the mail today for April 11th but we would obviously love to be able to get it done sooner...Was it easy to get in and does every office take walk ins???
-
I have heard differing opinions on this issue......some say they will grant it for weddings (especially if you have already filed and are just waiting) and others say they wont grant it for that reason. My husband and I are in a similar situation. We filed for AP concurrently with AOS but have a wedding on May 30 in Scotland for his absolute best friend in which he is best man...although we MAY get it in time, we are still planning on trying to expedite it if it gets close to the date and we still don't have it. What did you end up doing??
-
We are also March filers! Documents were delivered to the Chicago Lockbox on Tuesday March 15th so fingers crossed we get the NOA text soon! Has anyone else also applied for AP?????

Had our interview yesterday in Hartford, CT.....Couldnt believe we actually got called in at the appt time! So no waiting thank god! Interview was really simple, the officer hardly looked at any of the documents we brought and we were in and out of there really fast....Not even 2 hours after leaving, we got a email notification stating that card production was ordered So happy! Good luck to everyone else that has an interview coming up!!
