  1. Had our interview yesterday in Hartford, CT.....Couldnt believe we actually got called in at the appt time! So no waiting thank god! Interview was really simple, the officer hardly looked at any of the documents we brought and we were in and out of there really fast....Not even 2 hours after leaving, we got a email notification stating that card production was ordered :) So happy! Good luck to everyone else that has an interview coming up!!

  2. If you applied for Employment Authorization and Advance Parole and received your EAD card then you have received the document. USCIS made a change a few months back to combine the two. If you look at your EAD card then you will see it written at the bottom "SERVES AS I-512 ADVANCE PAROLE"

My husband and I just came back from England using his advance parole and we had a bit of an issue in customs. Unfortunately the officer he went to was no aware of the change and kept asking for the AP document which obviously he didnt have because it doesnt exist anymore! So they sent him to secondary where luckily the agent there knew of the change and he was good to go....You will be allowed back in (providing you didnt overstay more than 180 days?) but just be aware that not all the immigration officers are informed of the change!

  3. Hey Guys,

Congrats to everyone whose case is moving along! We just got back from a trip to the UK for my husbands best friends wedding using advance parole and wanted to fill you in on what happened when we returned to the US. FYI for any of you who plan on using it, NOT ALL THE IMMIGRATION OFFICERS know that USCIS changed the Advance Parole from a letter to a dual card with the EAD, my husband stood in line for an hour then was told he needed to get out and fill out another form and get back in line. By the time he got up to the officer again they sent him to secondary because they said he needed the letter ( but as you all know its just the EAD card with "Serves as Advance Parole" written on it....He had to wait while they dealt with two other passengers for an hour until finally the officer in there saw him. Luckily this one was aware of the new document that was being used and he apologized to my husband, had a nice little chat about growing up in CT (where we live) and then sent him on his way....In the end all was fine but it was a bit nerve-wracking seeing as I was waiting in the baggage claim for him not knowing what was going on! Anyways just wanted to let you know all know to make sure you bring as much paperwork as possible if you are traveling out of the country because apparently USCIS doesn't communicate with its employees....Bureaucracy at its best!

  4. hey sweetie, i know it is out of the march forum, etc xD but have you checked the processing times for hartford local office? it's like 6 months behind the current month.. :( so my interview appointment would probably be this july..im just assuming tho...

heyy girl, even though Hartford is our local office, all of our paperwork is being processed at MSC...right now the time line says 3 months for EAD and AP and 5 months for AOS...at this point though all we really want/need is the AP...hope things start moving for you :( keep me posted

  5. Yeah Lily is right...If you notice on the processing times, it states that if they are currently issuing a document in less time than their projected goal that you will see the time in months...So for example it says 3 months for EAD/AP but which means they are issuing most of them in less than 3 months...Also I heard that biometrics takes 3-4 weeks to go through processing with the FBI so you shoud start to see some activity soon!

  6. Hi Liz!! I thought we were the only Connecticut-ers on here as well :)

The East Hartford office was empty when we went this afternoon. He was able to walk right up and complete the biometrics in 15 minutes. We were a little worried because everyone seems to have a different experience depending on the office they go to (and we live in SW CT so the drive wasn't exactly around the corner!) but we were pleasantly surprised.

Do you guys think or know if the location of the office you have your biometrics done at effects processing time?

  7. I have heard differing opinions on this issue......some say they will grant it for weddings (especially if you have already filed and are just waiting) and others say they wont grant it for that reason. My husband and I are in a similar situation. We filed for AP concurrently with AOS but have a wedding on May 30 in Scotland for his absolute best friend in which he is best man...although we MAY get it in time, we are still planning on trying to expedite it if it gets close to the date and we still don't have it. What did you end up doing??
