  1. Hello

I am planning to move to my parents at the end of the year. Does anyone know what is the best way and what company that can move your belongs and a car across the country? Possibly not over $1000?

Im not going to have anyone to help with driving across the country and we have more stuff that can fit in our car, so I'm hoping to get our car/stuff shipped to my parents while we book flight tickets. My husband doesn't drive yet so I'm the only one that can drive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  2. We are renting a house that is under the landlords name. All our other Uscis letters were delivered fine except that the one we needed the most we dis not receive.

We cant even make any infopass appointment.

However, my husband gave uscis a call this morning and they said they would send a non-delivery request to uscis and that it could take 2 weeks or so.

Is this going to change anything if it goes through with nondelivery request??

  3. Thank you so much everyone for your inputs. It really means so much. ;

    Some questions:

    - the I-290B costs $630 to file regardless of whether they will reopen/reconsider our case. Can you just refile the I-485? This is just a thought since others have suggested it.

    - We are going to call to schedule an Infopass tomorrow and hopefully maybe they can squeeze us in this week or next week as we only have 30 days to go with the Motion to Reopen/reconsider letter.

    - Someone suggested maybe to go with the congressman's route. I don't know much about it --- do people write them a letter, or an email them or just walk right up to their office? What is the best way to approach this?

  4. Based on the letter we must submit I-290B for either or both "motion to reopen" or "motion to reconsider". I am a little confused at the differences between these and I've been reading the definitions many time. Should I mark "motion to reopen AND motion to reconsider"?

    We can not appeal.

The form states that the beneficiary can not file this and only petition/applicant can. I want to make sure that it is *ME* who will have to do (I am the USA spouse) eventhough the AOS letter was addressed to my UK husband.

  5. Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone knows of anyone or had an experience in the AOS processs like this:

We filled for AOS sometimes in April 2015, got EAD in July 2015. And since then we had been waiting for out letter of interview. My husband and I have been checking the AOS status online very often to see if there were any updates and that has been none.

Now, we just got a letter today saying that our AOS has been denied because our interview was supposed to be March 2016, to which we didn't show up. We never received a letter informing us about the interview. Also the site's last update was that our EAD was delivered in July 2015.

Apparently, the number we checked for the EAD is different from the number they have for for the AOS, so we never knew of any updates. No wonder the last update was in July 2015.

Did anyone have a different case # for EAD and for AOS?

I gave USCIS a call about this and was told we can send an I-290B form to appeal. Anyone has any experience about this? I am so nervous and frustrated, scared for the worst case scenario as the denial letter came as a shock and we've been eagerly waiting for the interview.

    Thank you for any inputs.

  6. Hi Guys,

I am majorly confused with the tax thing. I've been using TurboTax and do my own taxes for the past 2-3 years since my fiances were very simple. Anyhow my situation is that I am a resident of Kansas, but I've been in school in New York since 09/2014. Last year I filed my taxes under the state of KANSAS.

Now my husband has started to work in NEW YORK, and we are planning to file taxes jointly since he still hasn't gotten his green card yet. I am wondering, under which state should we file our taxes? I don't have any income right now as I am in grad school. My stepfather is our co-sponsor for the immigration process and he also lives in Kansas.

This is very confusing for me and I'd like to get the taxes done this weekend at the latest.

Thank you so much for all the help!

  7. Hey peeps. How all is well. We'll I have some good news. My ssn will be assigned to me by tomorrow. I had to go to ssa after they didn't help I called DHS after talking to them. They spoke to someone from ssa office in front of and my information was verified.

So you went to SSA first and they couldn't help you with it, then you called DHS??

We went to SSA once after the first time and they didn't have anything verified at the time. Called DHS and they said to talk to SSA. Seemed like no one had any information at the time, so.

  8. My wife received her Green Card today! Woohoo! So, what are the next steps? Thanks in advance!

    Go Pokes!!!

    Congrats on your green card!

    *Missing Laos here*

Went to SSN office here...yup, it's gonna take another long 4 weeks. I wish we had known to apply for SSN when his visa hadn't expired yet! (he came just a week before it did ;P)

  9. Just received my EAD card. Oh God is great!!! Just counting down to the interview.

Do I use this to apply for a social security or just use the card to find work?

I got mine today with no email, update on the website or text message. I just went to the mailbox and found it. Yours is probably on the way, they might not even update anything like they did with mine

Congrats on the job interview. Finally things are looking up

    COngrats!!!

So you received the approval letter in the mail last Monday? ;3 I'm assuming ours is on the way too. Now I'm having this compulsion of trying to check our mailbox ever so often, eventhough I know they only deliver once a day LOL

  10. Got approved for EAD on Monday last week but received the email on thursday and the NOA on Saturday. Called uscis just to ask how long it takes and the lady said it could take 30 days but doesn't necessarily mean it will take 30 minutes. Has anyone here exceeded 3 weeks after approval notice of EAD? I've noticed most of you got them in 2 weeks after approval notice

I meant 30 days not 30 minutes. Typo..

    I am wondering the same!!

we got the approval letter last Monday...and we're waiting for the card in the mail cuz my hubby just got an interview yesterday and I have a feeling they want him to start ASAP for full time.

  11. Hi guys, i have a quick question if someone could help us out.

My husband came to the US under K-1, but we didn't know that we only had 6 months to get SSN, so by the time he got here, it was already 5 months into it. So they told us we can't apply for SSN until he gets a green card.

I looked online and it says that you can apply for SSN if you have an EAD? If so, does he have to have the actual card in his hands first or is the approval letter sufficient enough?

He has an interview on monday, and I am just not sure what to do at this point. THanks!
