  1. That should not be an issue since the US only uses the first Last Name, a lot people travel with married name on GCs and maiden names on passports without an issue, so in your case a missing surname should not matter

thank you for your reply. I read a lot post with situations where the spouse adopted the married name, but none have a situation like mine. Hopefully we don't encounter any problems in chile when boarding.

  2. Here's the situation, when filing the AOS for my dad, his second last name(maternal ex: firstname lastname (2)lastname (hispanic)) was omitted from his GC, he check the application and the person forgot to include the second last name, therefore any changes to the GC will have to come out of pocket. We decided not to do anything, but now he needs to travel back to his home country and we are worried that the discrepencies between his passport and GC could be a problem when boarding the plane back to states.

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

  3. Congrats Raul y Karla! I was in the same ceremony! There was only about 2,500+ this time around (not sure about the morning ceremony)...last month for the May 24th morning ceremony, there were about 3,800. I would think that there would be a lot more people applying for naturalization since it's an election year...

Hi there, yep you're right they were only about 2800+ my bad

  4. The middle of this page shows the certificate of translation that you need to attach to translated documents: http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.5af9bb95919f35e66f614176543f6d1a/?vgnextchannel=fe529c7755cb9010VgnVCM10000045f3d6a1RCRD&vgnextoid=ff053d146a7ee010VgnVCM1000000ecd190aRCRD

What are your parents paying taxes on? Since they're not authorized to work, you can't count their income toward your affidavit of support and you don't need their tax returns.

Separate the separate petitions using rubber bands or large clip fasteners (alligator clips), per the tip on the link above.

So I can mail the petitions together in the same envelope but separated by rubber bands. Thank you for your input

  5. Hi everybody, I'm about to start the process of AOS for both of my parents. They overstayed their B2. I have the package almost ready. The medical examination is my concern, how did you guys do it? How do i send it? How did you guys do the translation of documents? For the affidavit do I send the tax transcripts or pay stubs? My parents have been filling taxes with their ITIN, do I send copies of them? To what form should I attach them?

If anybody has gone through this process can please post or pm their experience and/or docs provided to USCIS, assembly of package.

One more thing, I know that two separate petitions need to be filed, but can they be sent in the same package?

  6. I thought it could a nice idea to post pics of the ceremony

So today is June 27, and the first 6000 new citizens are mostly gone with their certificate. Now the next ceremony is suppose to start at 145p. It's only 1130a and there are aprox 300 in line waiting to turn on docs an letter. ( I'm going to try to post pics)

  7. We can meet up before the ceremony around 11.45 a the gate ....

By the way are you going to park in the (expensive) LACC West Hall parking?

That's a good idea, and maybe we can start a new topic and post the pics there.

I havent really thought about where I'm going to park, but probably I will park there, depending on how busy the surrounding areas look.

  8. Congrats, notscenenough!

Woohoo! Congrats scriber & Raul y Karla!

And another LA VJer! How cool is that?

I think you guys should meet up at or after the ceremony and take some pics for us! How fun to have so many VJers naturalizing at the same ceremony. :D

That sounds like a good idea, but it could also be kind of awkward... But I'm down to do it.

  9. Don't worry too much, everytime I had to go and get interviewed I got someone from another country being English his/her second language. Half of the time he/she asked me something I was like..." I'm sorry can you repeat the question...I'm sorry...WHAT???"

So like I said don't worry. If your husband doesn't understand what IO is asking just having him repeat the question. One more thing, just go over the application and make sure you know the answers to all the questions.

  10. Oh man, finally:
