  1. hi all. hoping someone can help me here, i have a simple question.

I'm at the stage now where the I-129F has been approved, the embassy has received it and issued a letter to my fiancee that says to pay the fee and then schedule an interview.(My fiancee is in the Philippines btw)

She followed the directions and paid the MRV fee of $350 at a BPI bank, and saved the receipt. Supposedly after you do this youre able to schedule the interview date. We waited a good 24 hours after she paid it and attempted to schedule the interview online. What we get stuck at is when it asks for the receipt number of her bank payment. Theres lots of numbers on the receipt. We're not sure which one is the one they want. We've tried them all and the website isnt recognizing any of them that are submitted. Cant call anyone cause its the weekend. I'd like to just do this online and avoid the hassle of dealing with them on the phone.

Can anyone tell me how many characters are supposed to be in the MRV fee payment receipt number that they want? Is it the one with the dashes?

Thanks in advance, i figure there has to be someone on here that has gone through the K1 process in the Philippines.

  2. Haven't started any processes yet but im planning to go over to the Philippines to meet someone in May. I've been looking up info to be prepared for the future when i do start a process of bringing her to the US. I understand the difference in wait times, but im more concerned about any problems that may come up when filing a K-1 or CR-1. I've made around 22,000 - 23,000 a year for the last few years, but was recently laid off. Haven't taken any unemployment, and im planning to look for work after i visit her, but i could (and probably should) have a co-sponsor when i file.

I've read that the Philippines does not allow co-sponsors on a K-1. I've also read that they do, but usually disapprove it except in the cases of students. Is there any truth to this? It seems kind of unclear. If the K-1 isn't an option (or is most likely going to be denied), does that mean the CR-1 is the best course of action?

Please someone advise me so i have some idea what my chances are with either of these.

  3. ok, i went to justanswer.com and got an answer from a immigration lawyer. Thought i'd share the info with you guys just in case anyone else is wondering what it is.

The news is good. Over 5 years is a substantial amount of time for a marriage so immigration will not suspect any type of fraud. I should be able to petition a new fiancee on K1 or K3 with no problem. As for the affidavit of support, i can file a 2nd one for a new fiancee if i choose, the amount i make will just have to be more than twice the poverty line.

  4. oh no, id never try to hide it from anyone. Theres no point in doing that. Just curious if it would make the approval process harder for me a second time.

Also im still wondering about the affidavit of support. Theyre supposed to last for 10 years. My ex has never gotten welfare or anything like that from the government (me either) so shes definitely not a burden. She doesnt need help from me either. I know if i started a new relationship eventually id need that affidavit of support approved. Is it possible for that to happen if i still have that affidavit of support in effect for my ex?

  5. hi everyone.

ok so let me give you a little bit of backstory. I'm a US citizen, went through the K1 visa process once without any complications and married my wife from another country in 2005. We were married and both lived together happily for over 5 years, but sadly decided to get divorced. The divorce was not messy. No kids, alimony, or fighting. She has a 10 year green card but never attempted to become a citizen.

My question is, how hard would it be for me to go through the K1 process again with someone new given my past? Will they suspect me of fraud cause ive had one divorce? What about the affidavit of support? Would it just be easier to do a K3?
