  1.      We picked up the passport today. Calling DOS to ask for the status was a nightmare, we got all possible status (AP, Pending, Visa Printed, AP). Our 2 cents .. not much is gained calling DOS ( it depends on the person providing status)

Also, sending email to Montreal helps when the US Citizen sends the note ( does it ?? not sure, but at least I got the response whereas my wife's email was never replied).

Very hard to say the logic used to print but all we now know is we have the Visa in hand and surprisingly all the pain seems to have been dissipated.

Now we are working on the move .. POE on this Friday YVR airport and God O' God what a journey...

Good Luck to VJ Members and thanks for all your help and support.

    :dance::dance::dance::dance:

I was wandering about you guys, well thank God you have your visa in hand and all the rest is just going to be easy. I know DOS is as unreliable on the phone as NVC. Called twice and got two different answers but right now, see if i care

  2. @saylin and @karenb

how long did it take you to get your passports back with the new visa from your interview?

What number were you calling to check on status???

My fiance just had her interview on Monday morning!!....soooo our big questions are, who to call to check now, and how long did it take for you? were either of yours processed out of Montreal?

    Thanks all!

I got my DHL email notifying me they had picked up my passport 15 days after my interview. That was about 8 business day because of the July 1st and 4th holidy. I would say it is averaging about two weeks now. I got the dhl email yesterday at 7pm and this morning my passport was ready for pickup so living two hours away from Montreal was a help.

I noticed if you have docs in your file that have to be verified through some other country, like your country of birth other than Canada it takes a little longer but just my random observation. Saylin gave you the number so i guess all your questions are answered.

 Best of luck to you.

  3. Well we called DOS again and this time we were informed that our case is pending and they have no clue on how much more time it will take - I guess the response we get from DOS varies on the person we talk to and it is very important for us to stay calm and get a control on ourself ( easier said then what I can actually practice).. Is pending status same as AP?

@ceciliaottawa : We wish that you get your visa very soon and pray that this wait time gets over soon..not sure how else I can add value -- did you tell IV Processing Unit in Montreal on the urgency since you are running out of time and hopefully this may help. I remember seeing some post on how someone faxed a note to Montreal ..

Yes, the "visa specialists" are as clueless as the poeple who used to ansewer the phone at NVC. I just hope they get what ever they are doing with my visa done soon so that i can get a life.

@Cecilia, that is true, i read about that some where in the threads. Yuo can just start with an email explaining your situation though i know your visa will be out in time for you not to stay here illegally. But just try to get the ball rolling and send the embassy an email and a fax to see if they respond.

  4. Thanks Karen!, we just called DOS and were given to understand that they have all the necessary information and our case is in AP. The wait time according to the operator was 4 to 8 weeks . This is a bummer and quite upset now :crying:.BTW,Did you call DOS?

Not sure if India is considered to be in a high fraud country -God this testing period is getting too much to endure!

Sorry to hear about your case being in AP. Some times they say that but it really takes a shorter time to go through. Just keep the faith, and call as often as you can though it really doesn't make a difference as the process is being done by the montreal embassy.

We called DOS today and the guy said he did not have access to tell us where our visa processis right now. We'll just trying later to speak to someone else who can give us a real answer.

  5. I'm the petitioner and an US citizen however my wife who is the beneficiary is NOT a Canadian Citizen she is a Canadian permanent resident. Does this factor for the time to get the visa?? Getting quite concerned and wish we all get the DHL email soon.

Do you have any estimates on how long this wait can be?

I am also a canadian permanent resident and know that could be a factor as they have to verify all the docs you submitted and if your docs are from a different country it should probably take a little longer but i really cant tell. From other peoples' posts it depends on if the country you come from is high fraud or not.

  6. True Saylin, this journey of waiting for the passport is nerve wracking and we were unable to sleep through the nights and cannot stop from imagining all crazy things !!

@ KarenB - We were C1 on the day of interview and are still waiting for the DHL email eagerly! Wishing you the very best and hope we get the DHL email soon

@ Shawna - Thanks for your inputs yesterday, we called DOS today and they still have no updates for us - they told us to keep checking next week .. BTW, we had scheduled our travel to 13th July and are getting very nervous. Meanwhile wishing you the very best for your POE

I remember you guys. I was C5 but i think they interviewed me right after you. Is the petitioner a Canadian citizen cuz i am not and i think it takes longer for them to do the required checks before issuing the visa.

Yes, i thuught about booking a flight right after the interview but thought better of it as i know this embassy might be great and fast when it comes to interviews, but they are notoriously slow for sending out visas.

  7. Yes, there should have been a line when signing up for DHL that asked for your email address. That's how DHL will know where to send the email with the waybill number. Sign on and go to the applicant information part. You should be able to edit it.

Thanks Sayline just did and i did give an email address. Guessi forgot about that. Nerve racking this waiting. Makes you start seeing stars

  8. I got my dhl email!!!!

Yay, congrats on getting your visa.

Quick question here for anyone, when registering for the dhl service is there an option to put in an email address or does the embassy give that info to dhl because i dont remember registering and putting down an email address. Thanks.

  9. I had a blonde lady too and got mine back in two days. We filed DCF/at the consulate though so that might have made a difference? I hope yours comes soon! Good Luck!

KarenB-- Oh cool that we were both in on that Monday :) Did you see when Ellen Page came in? Haha, it seems like they put her through the rest of us peons as she got in and out in 15min! I was there for 5 hours :P Yeah, its strange how it does seem so random! I totally wasnt expecting to get mine that soon as everyone else had been reporting an average of at least a week-wait time. I hope yours comes TOMORROW! Good luck!

AMEN to that. No i was not in there when Ellen Page came in. I was out by 9:15am so maybe that is why. :star:

  10. Hi all,

I had my interview two days ago (Monday June 27) and already received an email today saying DHL picked up my passport and it is on its way to the Markham, ON DHL location as we speak! The email included my waybill number and a link to tracking. I'm shocked at how fast they got it sent out, and am hoping to be able to pick it up in the next day or two. I will be completely amazed if I can get it this very same week of my interview. Sorry to hear some of you guys have been waiting so long-- I wonder why I am getting mine so fast, but I hope you all get yours very soon as well! I will update here once I've picked it up~ Good luck all

Wow, that was really fast. Really great! I had my interview the same day as you but no news yet from DHL. I am hoping for this week though, all the holidays this weekend are not helping though  . Well i'll hope for the best though. It's like this visa issuing process is completely random.

  11. I think it's pretty clear! Congrats!!! kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif

Wohoooooooooooooooooooo!!! Congrats Karen!!! You made me freak out for a moment because I was calling your cell and NO ANSWER!! Very happy for you!!

    Congratulations!

Thanks so much guys. My VJ family has really helped me a lot and i dont know what i would have done without all the great info i got here. It took out 80% of the stress and made the interview a breeze. :star:

  12. Karen, YOU GOT THIS... If it makes you feel any better I have not seen one, not one case on VJ, that got denied in Montreal...

Yup, I agree, you're going to be just fine! I know it's hard to look at your own case objectively (I have an easy embassy too and was freaked out), but I'm also confident that you've got this!

Thanks ladies, gathering all your positive vibes!!!

kicking.gifCongratulations kimsue, ceciliaottawa and americaandnorway! kicking.gif

Good luck to everyone interviewing next week!

    Thanks.

Any guesses what that means??? APPROVED!!! Wahoooooooooooooo

Early word out of Paris... it took about two hours of waiting after the appointment time, but the actual interview only lasted a couple of minutes. His phone credit was running out, so I will update you with the details when I find them out myself. Bottom line: "you should receive your visa in 6-10 days"

Hoping ceciliaottawa and Terca can make this day even better!!!

    :dance::dance::dance:

    Grats Kimsue!!!

  14. APPROVED!!! Dance with us!!!:dance::dance: Visa should be ready in 2-3 days.

They did not let me in. I prayed outside for 2 hours. He literally had 20 pounds of proof of our relationship and he showed all of it. The CO said you prepared very well. The interview lasted 5 minutes.

    Questions:

    1. What happened with fiance petition? (they returned our case to U.S. 2 years ago after 7 months of AR)

    2. What's your wife's name?

    3. Where does she work?

    4. Where did she work before?

    5. What proof do you have?

    6. Who are the people on the wedding pictures (he got a compliment for the gourgeous wedding album)

    7. What books does your wife like?

    8. What movies does your wife like?

My hubby was prepared. We spend ALL Sunday getting everything together and rehursing the questions.

HUGES THANKS TO THE FELLOWS VJERS!!! BEST OF LUCK TO ALL OF YOU!!!

    Kira L.

    Congrats!!! :dance::dance::dance:

Now Good luck to Cecilia, Kimsue and Terca

  15. Ok this seems a bit odd but the day after CC on the 14th I got an interview date of July 18. I am shocked it was sooner than I expected. Kind of cought us off guard lol. We might re-schedule if we can't make it.

Congrats CGuy, its not exactly ealy july but at least you have a date now. So happy for you, and yes i guess they do schedule a bulk pf the interviews on the second week of the month, guess that why you got your interview date then and judging from a lot of others. i guess they do additional scheduling of interviews during the week just when dates become available.

Well good luck on the rest of your journey!!

  16. An immigrant visa interview has been scheduled for the applicant at the U.S. Embassy/Consulate in BUCHAREST on July 26, 2011 at 01:00 pm.

July 12th is the day!!!!!!they had a wrong email adress, provided by the lawyer, and only her adress was correct, anyway it's very closed and i'm happy,my only concern is if my husband should come or not with me?!

Congrats!! I just got an SIF today finally.

Great Whoop for all the Cc and interview dates.:dance::dance:

CGuy, finally this is done, i do hope the embassy grants your expedite and gives you that early July date you wanted. Best of luck!
