Thanks all! Unfortunately, I have to go back to the US because of my family emergency problems, which we're anticipating will take a long time. My son is getting his US passport and CRBA in my absence. We were in the application process of getting everything sorted in the UK, but will have to abandon that.

It doesn't seem like I'll have enough time to file via Direct Consular, soooooooo here we go again. Hmpf.

On a side note: I'm also trying to find out a timeframe when my husband will be getting his letter for biometrics/the biometrics apt date from when we apply. We're hoping there's a few month gap he can come visit me in the US while the paperwork is being filed. Does anyone have any idea??

In need of help here. I'm the USC, my husband is UK. Right before we were due to remove conditions on my husband's 2-year green card, we went on holiday in UK. Due to a medical emergency while pregnant, we had to stay. Our son was born in the UK.


We weren't sure to stay or go, but now we know we must go back. With all the research I've done, it seems as though we have to start the process all over again via CR-1. We've been married three years. Am I correct?

That is absolutely DISGUSTING behavior on their part!!! I would do exactly what "sus" mentioned and report them to FDCPA. ARGH!!!! So angry for you.

Hi there! Please add us to the list. We mailed our items off to the Vermont Service Center on 8/5 and they were received on 8/6. The check still hasn't been cashed as of this morning.

Also, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get status updates on the USCIS website. Do I have to wait for a new # when the first NOA comes in?

Should I be worried we haven't received our NOA1 yet?

Since we DCF'd, this is the first time I have dealt with USCIS stateside, I have three questions:

1. The I-797 lists a receipt date of 7/31/13 but it is stamped in red with Aug 06 2013. The same date was also stamped on the outside of the envelope. What is the NOA1 date?

2. It extends my wife's green card one year, from what date? Receipt Date, Red Stamp Date, or Green Card Expiration Date?

3. The Receipt number is not working on the USCIS website, it has the correct first three letters so I am pretty sure I am using the right number. Is there normally a time lag before the number is recognized on the website?

Got a bit of a dilemma here: I'm getting all of our info together as we're sending out the first week in August. There are a few potential red flags. My husband and I don't have joint checking accounts. We don't believe in that and never have. We did file joint taxes together for 2011 and 2012. We also have a joint lease together, but it has expired and we are on a month-to-month basis paying until we move 1 September. One thing in our favor is that we are expecting our son in November and have loads of ultrasound photos to show.

Copy of both driver's license with same address

2 affidavits from friends about our continued relationship

Husband's passport pictures

Copy of current lease (expired, but shows 18 months tenancy not month-to-month)

Numerous photos of trips and events in chronological order

Copy of my daughter's emergency contact list at her school with my husband as primary contact

I could easily get a letter from my OB specialist stating my husband has been present at all the ultrasound appointments. Also, we won't have our new lease as we're looking for our new place so we can settle by the 1st of September.

Any Advice? Should this suffice or should we add something more?

Good Luck to all the June filers! We filed our whole package (I-130, I-485, to also include I-693, I-864, I-131, I-765) yesterday.
