Well, when my husband applied for his residence permit, he checked a box on the application to automatically have the SSN sent to him in the mail after entering the US...he shouldn't have to go into the office to apply for it since he checked the box on the residence permit application. So, I'm wondering how long we will wait for it to be sent in the mail after doing it the way we did it? Thanks for your helps though.

Hey everyone,
Good news...my husband received his perminent residence permit to come live and work in the US with me. I'm not sure if this is the place to post this, but I'll try anyway.
Can anybody tell me how long after entering the US and after giving the approved packet of information to the immigrations at the airport upon first entrance, does it take to receive the actual greencard and social security number in the mail? We're just curious how long to expect to wait for those 2 things.
Thanks

Thanks for your advise. We already arranged every thing for our final interview and guess what on Friday 12th August we got our package 4 :-) Our interview date is 31 August 2011. We are so happy....
Congrats! Told you they were fast :-) I'm sure everything is going to go smoothly. They are all very nice and helpful at the embassy in CPH. Keep us informed of your progression...

Thats pretty fast I think. We already submitted packet 3 on 8th august 2011 and now we are looking forward for package 4. Wish we could also get interview date asap.
Just wondering how long it took your husband to get his visa after the immigrant interview ??
Thanks for updating and good luck to you also with your US journey with the family.
Thanks :-)
Well, it took a little over a month from my husbands interview until IR1 was issued. It may be a little faster for you, since the CO was off for 3 weeks during July (yep, that's Denmark for you...everything closes down for the summer, even visa issuing :-))
We actually received packet 4 with interview date only 2 days after we sent packet 3. If you haven't already done it, I highly recommend that you get everything ready for packet 4 ASAP (I-864 from sponsor and joint sponsor etc.). It can take a long time to gather all the information, if you haven't started yet. Especially if you have to send papers back and forth from the US. Just a recommendation :-)

08/05/2011. I-130 petition approved and packet 3 received..yupppppppppppppy
Congrats on your progress!
I just went through the process in Copenhagen for my husband. The whole process probably took about 2 months, from when we filed I-130 until my husband got his visa in the mail. It was all very easy and we are leaving for the U.S. ASAP. I've been in Denmark for 3 years. It's been nice, but we're so happy to be able to go back to the U.S. together.
Please don't hesitate to ask if you want to know more about the DCF process in CPH or something else. Good luck :-)

Hi all...
My husband had the visa interview earlier this month. We are doing DCF. Is there any way to check case status when you are doing DCF or is that just for people filing in the US?

Does anybody know if you are suppose to staple the passport style photo to the G-325A form, or if they want it paper-clipped to the form?
Thanks!

Quick question about filling out the G-325A biographical form when filing DCF. I am the USC and have been living in Denmark for the past 3 years. We have moved around MANY times within these past 3 years in Denmark. How specific do I need to be with the addresses and how long we lived at each address? Also, there is a second question asking to list most recent address outside the U.S.(abroad). So, do I only list my U.S. addresses in the first question about addresses, or also include our Denmark addresses? I'm just not sure if the first question means ONLY my U.S. addresses, then use the Denmark address in the second question??? Hope somebody can help me out!
Thank you

Hey everyone,
I know a lot of people have questions about the I-864 forms...and I'm one of them. I would rather be safe than sorry, so that's why I'm asking. Anyway, I am the USC filing for my husband to come live in the US. The US domicile I am using is also the same address where my parents live. My parents will also be sponsors. So when I'm filling out the I-864, do I include them on line 21g? Also, I personally am unemployed, and make no annual income, so I have put 0 on line 23. However, what do I put on line 24a for the household income? Do I use my parents income for that line even though it says to use my answer from line 23? Do both my dad and mom fill out I-864 or I-864a? They file taxes as married filing jointly, so I don't know which forms they need, or if only one of them needs to be on the forms or both? Can anybody help me with my annoying questions? haha!
Thanks for the time and help,

Just looking for anybody that has recently filed DCF in Denmark??? I'm just wanting to hear from anyone that has filed DCF in Denmark, about how long the whole process took, and any tips or stories I should know about when filing in Denmark. Thanks for the help.

Hey everyone,
Just wondering if any of you can help me out and give me a step-by-step list of how the process goes when filing DCF? Just want to make sure I don't miss anything along the way that maybe I haven't read about yet during my online research of all of this. Thanks so much for the help.

Thanks British Bird,
However, I'm still looking for an answer to my question. Yes, I know that the name on the passport has to match the name on the I-130, but will it be ok if I file the I-130 with the same name as my passport, but with a different name on all other documents? I have all supporting evidence and proof ready to be attached when I file, that shows that I took my husbands last name, but just have not had it changed on my passport.
Thanks again,

Hey everyone,
I've been married for almost 3 years now, and when I got married I took my husbands last name. I changed my last name on all documents when we got married, except for my passport. I just thought I would wait to change it on there when the expiration date ran out. So my passport is the only thing I have my previous last name on. I know that when I file the I-130, the name on the form has to match the name on my passport, which is fine. However, my last name on my danish residence permit shows my new last name. Do you think everything will still be okay when filing if I attach a note explaining, and if I show our marriage certificate, and all other supporting documents with the 2 different names? Let me know what you all think.
Thanks for your help,

Hi again,
In relation with my original post, I just want to ask if by me (the wife/sponsor) having my drivers license, voters registration and tax returns ALL coming from a US address (which is also my parents current address)...if that would qualify as domicile?

Hi,
I'm a US citizen currently living with my danish husband in Denmark. I have lived there with him as a danish resident for almost 3 years. We will soon be filing a DCF from Denmark so that we can move to the US. Obviously, since I haven't lived in the US for 3 years, I don't have my OWN domicile. I still use my parents US address as my address, and will also be using my parents as joint sponsor when filing the I-864. Will my parents domicile (also the place that I use when needing a US address) be accepted as domicile for me? How can a person who hasn't lived in the US for several years, be expected to have domicile in the US? I'm hoping that by using my parents as joint sponsor, that I can use their home as my temporary domicile.
I would appreciate any feedback and info. if anybody knows about this.
Thanks,
KRA
So sad that USA immigration is such a joke

Sorry to hear your experience has now been what you wanted. We had the exact opposite experience. Everything was very fast a smooth. We went through the entire immigration process in a few months, basically with no problems. We are loving our new life in the US. Your experience is unfortunate, however I don't think it's descriptive of the system as a whole. Immigrating to a new country is not necessarily easy. I hope the rest of your journey will be easier. Cheer up, it's all gonna be alright!
