Thats what i know also, married to usc for 3 years. When usc filed for her petition, they been married for 3.5 yrs already. She got 10yr GC. Shes been been here in the usa for 17 mos total..so 1 more more month for her to be able to file citizenship?

My friend is under IR-1 with 10yrs gc. They been married for 5 yrs now, but just moved here and got her gc for 1.5 yrs.
When can she file for us citizenship? She was told she needs to be in the usa for 3 yrs to be able to file for citizenship?

ME!! My husband added me to his health insurance with out ssn way back 2011. and i never had any problem about it. I guess it depends on the insurance your spouse have..

Immigration's at POE no longer does the paper I-94. The I-94 is done on the CBP website after clearing POE.
I need to rephrase that.. U will get a stamp with with 90 days expiration date.

It will expire in 6mos. Now the moment you enter the US soil your K1 visa is automatically expired. Immigration officer in the airport will give you form which is the i-94. You will be given 90 days to get married otherwise you need to go back home.

How many original/certified birth certificates does an immigrant to America need to bring with them?
Only one? Or more?
Assuming one original certified birth certificate--are there any other places that might demand an original?
Possibilities:
Needed for marriage license?
Needed for AOS?
Needed for Social Security Card?
Needed for driver's license, or voter's registration (eventually)?
Needed for college/university application?
Anything else?
Maybe copies are allowed for anything. But if more than one original is needed it could be difficult (maybe even impossible to get one sent to America) so it seems an important question.
Also--transcripts of High School / College?
A person who runs a GED (High School Equivalency) program advised me that an immigrant should bring one or more copies of all transcripts (high school + college if pertinent) and that often when applying for a college the college will ONLY accept a transcript if it has been sealed by the educational institution, in an envelope with a signature or stamp over the glued flap. She said: "I cannot tell you how many times people have come to me saying that they completed high school, and need to prove that, but do not have a transcript--and can now not get them from a distance."
She said that there is an organization who (for a fee, I'm sure) will review any high school on earth and certify if it meets the standards as acceptable to American schools. Apparently that organization will give the person a certifying letter that the high school meets American standards.
I've found that colleges will accept transcripts in envelopes that are sealed and stamped or signed across the envelope flap.
So an immigrant might need one high school transcript and two or more sealed/signed transcripts might be wise allowing, for instance, acceptance to a community college for an associates (two year degree) and that the second sealed envelope will be useful if the immigrant wishes to continue along to a four year college.
Thoughts anyone?
Everytime any office will ask for birthcertificate, they will only get a xerox copy of it. But back in the days, i brought 4 original copy of my BC. And fyi: you be needing 2x2 pictures for AOS. Goodluck!

I just got biometric appointment letterS today..yes 2 identical appointment letters hahahhha ! My bio appointment is on Oct.8,2013. Whewwww I thoiught it will take forever for me to wait for that appointment.

I hope to have our package in the mail tomorrow. How log does it taking the vermont service center to send NOA1 receipt? My wifes green card expires 10/20/13.
on an average, some got it 2 weeks after they uscis recieved it..

Got my packet put together. I-751 Forms filled out with copies of electric bill, auto insurance, rental lease, bank account statements, etc.. tossed in and a couple of photos for good measure. Hope that is enough. I'll be mailing it out with check on Monday. Anything anybody sent that was not typicaly listed by the check list that might be a good idea to send along? I am just making sure I don't miss anything and am curious if others had a lightbulb moment and thought, "This would be perfect to send in!"
Time to hunker down now and wait for noa, biometrics and then hubby's card and or our interview. Looks like it is gonna be a while looking at past timelines

Georgia State Senator Saxby Chambliss was able to get my petition to the expedite team, anyone have any idea how much time it will take for approval now, or how much time I probably have taken off of the process. The Senators office stated they will have the visa expedited all the way through to the embassy, so I'm guess an expedite at each stop.

Well when you file a request to expedite, papers/cases all go to the review team..they will be one to determine if they will grant your request to expedite your case or not. What you recieved is just a notice paper stating the your request has been forwarded to the review team not YET GRANTED.

Yes, this is normal. You have to use the case number on your biometric letter.

Hey i have a quick question about the receiept number of my noa. I tried to check my case status at uscis but it always say "Your case can not be found at this time in My Case Status" . Is this normal?

I will send my I-751 package soon and I have a question...It will be a problem if I will send the check only with my name on it? We have a joint bank account, but my husband is in rehab right nowand he kept taking money from the account, so I don't want to use that account now.

That will be fine. Its the payment that matters.

You have two options.
- Just wait. If approved rejoice else if a RFE is issued, then submit what is asked for in the letter with a explanation letter.
- Send an explanation letter now with a copy of NOA - you can include any additional evidence that you may have now.

- Address showing a PO Box should not be an issue but explain it in you covering letter - both names should show up in the statements - include 1 full statement per quarter.
- The intent is that your marriage is genuine. We all have to work to make a living and sometimes we have to work in another place. Yes this could be a red flag and may get you to an interview but as long as the marriage is genuine, interview should be a cake walk - you need to know each other well.
Thats the problem, I submitted all the requirements but i did not put any explaination on the cover letter. I did it the way i did my aos. Bank statements were all addressed to my husbands p.o. box.
How important is the explanation in the cover letter?

Do yourself a favor and ask for a Service Request NOW. Ask for a confirmation in writing (aka send you a letter) so you won't have to wait ANOTHER 45-90 days in addition to the 90 days already mentioned.
Reason being if you don't push them, they'll end up delaying your application till the world's end. Don't let that happen, be proactive today!
