  1. You should be fine. Wnen my spouse did medicals at Chennai recently, she was not given X-ray- I believe the results included in the medical report. Since no x-ray reports are given, nothing to worry at POE.

    Good luck with your interview

My wife just had her medical at mohali last week and picked up her report. She was given a packet, but no X-ray. Is the X-ray included in the packet at mohali? I've heard people mention to not take the X-ray to the interview but rather to the POE. Confused...any info?

  2. Try taking an infopass appointment with your local USCIS office to find out more info.

USCIS help line is very pathetic and dead fish-they are trained to read the script, ask unnecessary questions. Lately USCIS customer service has been gone from bad to worst.

Filed application for green card for my fiance and 9 moths later they have no response. completed biometrics and it has been 8 months since then do not know where the application is? it is very furstrating. when i call the USCIS they told me we will mail you a later explaining it has been outside the normal time and we'll mail you. no later as of yet. do not know what to do.

  3. US Consulate Mumbai requires PCC only-Passport Clearance Certificate or PCC issued at regional passport office. So go the local/regional passport office and ask for a PCC to be issued for US Visa purposes. You will get two copies of PCC and a stamping on your passport.

Go to http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/locatePSK/locatePFC and locate your passport office, complete application for PCC and take an appointment. Follow all guidelines given out there.

    Hope this helps

    Greetings fellow members

I have searched through the forums and have found topics from 2011, so am reposting in hopes of getting current information for 2013.

How does a beneficiary residing in Mumbai apply for a Police Clearance Certificate (PCC)? The US Mumbai consulate web site says apply at local passport office, but no additional details are given.

My request to any VJ'ers with beneficiaries in Mumbai who have gone through the process recently: If you could post your advice/tips/experiences about how to get a PCC in Mumbai that would be greatly appreciated! How long does it take to get one and what is the cost?

    Thanks in advance!

  4. There is a column to add "Spouse's name" on the inside backcover page in the passport. Thats where the spouse is name is added.

In our case, I asked my wife to keep her last name as such and we never changed. So adding spouse name is just adding his/her name in the specified column in the passport.

When you all are talking about adding the "spouse name" to the passport before getting the PCC, are you just saying that the wife's last name should be updated to the married surname, or are you saying that on her passport, they will actually write my (the husband's) name as well??

    Thanks!

  5. Congrats.

Brother was Approved at the embassy yesterday in Jamaica. His dad, a permanent resident accompanied him to the interview. My brother said he was asked two basic questions - who petitioned for you, when was the last time you traveled to the USA which he answered in March-April 2013 for 3 weeks. His father was asked many questions. The updated Tax Statement 2012 and AOS were all requested. A local agent from the consulate had made contact to the # on file about 30 days ago to inform us of the updated dcks they will need to process the case.

I wish the very best to those who will follow through with the process. I pray that the future threads will remain as informative as they have been and members timeline.gif as this helps. I also pray that the threads will remain as peaceful as they have been lately. Overall while the wait is longer ... cases that are interviewed for a F2A visas are generally a walk in the park. The approvals are not as high as the quickly processed CR1 as it reviewed in detail to reduce visa abuse. I know the wait is hard especially to those who has spouses/children who is unable to travel to see them.

Always remember that the request for a Travel visa (B1/B2) is viewed differently from the F2A visa so with that said -> feel free to applygood.gifyes.gif.

    Stay Positive,

    Ricardo

  6. You can pay either before entering or after landing in US. It is just to get your physical Green Card.

You wife should have received A number from CO that approved her visa. When my wife's visa approved two weeks ago, Co printed a page that contained A number and how to pay USCIS fee.

    Hi,

My wife is all set for the CR1 visa interview except new USCIS Immigrant Fee. Does anyone know when and how to pay this? Payment portal requires A number which immigrant doesn't recieve before point of entry in US. Any feedback will be appreciated.

  7. I am bit surprised to see your post. PCC is issued by Passport offices in India and they have standard format. All you need to do is request PCC for USA and passport office knows what to print-basically two lines of letter.

So don't worry about sending samples to your spouse.

    Good luck.

    Hi!

As the subject says, I was wondering if someone wouldn't mind posting or emailing me a copy of a [correctly made] PCC, so I can give it to my wife to show the authorities as an example. I know someone had done this a while back, but I can't find that thread anymore. I really really appreciate it!

    Thanks!

  8. Let me try to answer some of the questions you may have. I did not understand what that "expert" you are referring talking about.

    1. In India, you need to have PCC-passport clearance certificate only and PCC can be obtained from the passport office. Not sure which state you are requesting the PCC, but some local passport offices have different set of rules that you need to bring certificate from local police to get PCC from passport office.

    2. You said you are unemployed since February of 2013 or 2012. I think it is Feb 2013. If you worked in 2012, made more than the 125% of poverty guidelines and filed your taxes, send your recent Tax returns to NVC. You not require a sponsor in this case.

    3. Please remember sending employment letter and pay slips are extra evidence but not necessary unless asked for. If you are unemployed since Feb 2013, if I were you, I would refrain from sending unemployment letter to NVC- you are creating more troubles.

I'm in the process of sending in my I-864 for my wife, my sister will be the co sponsor.

Since late February I've been unemployed and is currently looking for a job.

I will be sending a unemployment letter, does anyone have a sample unemployment letter i can use?

    What information will be required?

I saw one on here somewhere but I'm unable to locate it.

  9. Congrats, Kevinj1.

    Hi All

My wife successfully got her visa at the Mumbai consulate today. My experience follows.

My F2A case is slightly different in that we opted for consular processing although my wife works in the US on a work visa.

We got her medical exam done in Chennai Apollo on Monday (Xray+physician checkup+couple of vaccinations+blood exam total ~3 hours, report was available for pick up the next day)

We reached the Mumbai consulate at ~7:20 am for the 7:30 am interview, the checkup guy at the gate immediately let her in citing that all the immigrant visas cases had already been sent in. (there was quite a long line for the non iv cases)

once inside an Indian lady checked and organized all her documents (specifically asked for tax returns), gave her a token number and asked her to be seated.

Within 10 minutes, an American visa officer called her up to the counter, questions were:

    1) when was the wedding, how we met, how many years she knew me before the wedding

    2) does she work now, where i work in the US and how i ended up in the US

    3) asked for the wedding album

That's it, no other documents were asked by the VO.

Visa was approved, all the originals that were submitted as part of the NVC application were returned to her. She was out by 8:15 am.

The passport with the temp. GC will be available for pick up back in Chennai.

I've also already paid the $165 processing fee.

Thanks to all the VJ members for making the 2.5 year wait less tedious, now that there's been some pretty good movement lately I hope in the near futures F2As become current so that future applicants wont be separated.

    Good luck and god speed!

P.S: replies to my own questions, she did not have to submit DS-230s and i864 again at the time of interview (we had already submitted as part of the NVC application) and no i was not required for the interview smile.png

  10. You are wrong. This issue has come up number of times in this forum. The answer to your post is depend on where you live in India. Passport offices in some states have strict rules that they produce evidence showing the need for PCC. People from Gujarat have had this issue as many discussed in this forum and we all know why it is so.

In other states, no questions asked, PCC is issued right away. In our passport office, we got PCC within few hours- only question asked was for which country you require a PCC so that name of the country is printed in the PCC.

Be advised that In india, WITHOUT HAVING PCC CHECKLIST LETTER from NVC, PASSPORT OFFICE is not issuing PCC.So, tell your husband to send in IV package as soon as possible. dont waste time on thinking on PCC.

  11. Your post is little bit confusing. If I understand correctly, you received 221 g at interview and submitted documents. Consulate reviewed your documents that you submitted against your 221 g and issued you an e-mail indicating you are not eligible to receive at this time.

I am not an expert but others can help you reg. IR/CR visas. As you said, it is under AP now-only thing you can do is wait.

Why don't you share the details of why you got 221 g and what did you submit to that effect. May be other members can give you better guidance.

    Good luck

I got e-mail from vfs today that:

"We are unable to issue your visa at this time. Section 221 (g) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) prohibits the issuance of a visa to anyone who has failed to meet the requirements of United States law or regulation governing the issuance of a visa."

what does it means? denied and file will go back to Nvc or they will demand more documents?

i got 221g sheet on my interview day and submitted the documents after that .

My online status has updated today that says case is on AP when it will finish will inform you.if any one had same experience pls explain and advise me accordingly.

  12. Do you know where you plan to take medicals- which town- call them and ask for what to bring in. Normally pp size photos, original passport and photocopy of the same PLUS interview letter.

Take all your medical records. I heard from my spouse that the Doctor will have list of questions to ask the candidates and you just have to reply. This is a not a rocket science.

Please share your medical test experience. do they ask any questions and what things we should take there?

  13. Thanks, sky701. CEAC status visa issued. No one took bar code page printed form ustraveldocs website from website.

Now I've to wait and see-keep tracking the status of passport. Probably we might collect passports from OFC at Chennai.

    Hi Listeria,

Congratulations on your family's visa approval and thanks a lot for sharing the interview experience with us. It's really helpful. I have filled out the new DS-230 form just in case if they ask my spouse since she has traveled to the US in the past few months.

Did you get your passport with visa on the same day? How long is it taking nowadays?

Kevin - you don't need a DS-160 form as that's only for the non-immigrants visa interview.

  14. see my interview experience posted by clicking my timeline or http://www.visajourney.com/reviews/view-dos-cis-reviews.php?entry=11887

Hello, I'm starting this thread to share our experiences at the US Consulate in Mumbai. Please share with us:

    • How was the overall experience? What questions were asked?
    • How many interviews/interviewers were there?
    • What docs were asked/looked at the time of interview?
    • Did you get the passport with visa on the same day?
    Thanks,
  15. Thanks, Iwaiting and aanu. No one ever bothered to ask x-ray at consulate (we did not get the one from Apollo itself)- may be all info goes in to medical report.

Anyways, my spouse and daughter were approved-no docs were asked at the time of interview including 2012 tax transcripts.

I do not think if there is any use of x-ray film since no one likes to check it. My medical had x-ray film, and they returned that at the time of interview, and at POE, no one asked me about x-ray film. I guess that is better for not to give x-ray film when they have no use of it.

My medical had x-ray film, and they returned that at the time of interview with out checking it.

  16. hi all

my case is completed and i can sign in on that payment portal.

    does that mean anything?

according to apple21, if you cannot sign in on the payment portal your case is completed, does it imply that being able to sign in means case has not been completed?

    please enlighten me!

It has no relevance to case completion nor interview is scheduled. Once you have sent the docs, NVC completes the case and send you an e-mail.

I am still able to sign-in even though my interview is scheduled within in next few hours.

  17. My spouse and daughter had their medicals done on 4/25. My spouse was told that they no longer provide the X-ray films to the applicants when she was there next day to collect the reports.

Guys, Is this is normal. I knew we do not need to take X-rays to interview but heard one must bring it to the POE.

    Appreciate your input. Thanks.

  18. Yes, you can file I-130 for your new spouse.

Before you do that, did you get your green card through the current spouse or got GC you were as primary applicant. If you received your GC through second option-Yes, you can file I-130. But if you received GC through first option, there is a time limit before you can apply I-130 for your new spouse.

i am not planning to petition her as K1 instead I-130..is it possible that she'll be approve even though i am not yet annulled in p.i. but got married here..
