Thanks, Everyone. Really appreciate the clarification.

Hi, All.
My wife has been here on a CR-1 Visa since the middle of last month and I want to take her for a trip to Canada. Are there any visa requirements for her to visit Canada? I have not received her Green Card yet.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks.

Just checking in to see how everyone is faring.
My wife has her interview in New Delhi, India on January 31. Congrats on your approval.

Thanks everyone...really appreciate the help.

Hi All,
Quick question. My wife's interview is at the end of this month and we were discussing what she should wear and how to dress for the interview. I thought that she should probably wear a traditional salwar kurta dress and maybe even her bridal bangels. Any thoughts or suggestions?
Thanks
-
It all would be need at the time of interview. At VFS office, just pay fee and common necessary doc that you mentioned.
Thanks

Hi, Everyone.
I am gathering copies to send to my wife for her end of January interview at New Delhi Consulate. Her VFS office is in Chandigarh. My questions are regarding the VFS office submission.
1) What will she need to submit to this VFS office? My understanding is the following:
a) Interview Letter
b) envelope of medical exam result
c) 387 RS. cash
d) copy of passport biographic page??
e) (2) passport sized photographs
2) Will she be able to / should she submit proof of ongoing relationshipat the VFS? ie. Phone Logs, Skype Logs, , Letters, Money Transfers, my W-2/1040s, Newspaper publications of our marriage, etc. or will this only be needed for the interview?
3) Anyone have experience with Chandigarh VFS?
Thanks.

Hi Steven and Ashish,
Thanks for this info. I have one more question about DS-3032. Did you send email for DS-3032 or just sent a paper form(DS-3032) to NVC. Because some says that email didn't work for them. Please clarify, Thanks for your help.
Hi, Sam. I did send it by email and immediately received an automated response that they have received it. I have read a few where it takes a few days to get the automated response message but mine did come right away.
It may take some time (week or two) for them to process this however. It took mine about 12 days. Once your DS-3032 is accepted, your IV Bill will be generated in a few days and then you can pay that online.
Also, regarding the 864 packet, make sure to write your case number in the right hand corner of every page including the 864.

Hi guys,
I have a question about sending email for DS-3032:
My wife want me to use her email account to send email for DS-3032, i.e. "choice of agent". If I do that then I have to log in from USA and send that email to NVC. My question: is it ok or legal to do that? has anyone did that? Does NVC care about that even though my wife give me full permission to use her email account.
Please help. Thanks.
I did this and it was fine.

Hi,
I am really confused about supporting documents for I-864. Instructions for I-864 says that "provide either an IRS transcript or a photocopy from your own records of your Federal individual income tax return for the most recent tax year." It means that we dont need to submit both (IRS transcript and Federal individual income tax return) at the same time, either one is fine. But on this web site, a document: "James's Shortcuts" lists both items(IRS transcript and Federal income tax return) to be submitted with I-864. so which one is correct? Please help me.
Thanks a lot.
When I sent the I-864 in, I sent only the below and it was approved:
- I-864 Coversheet (with barcode)
- Form I-864 (signed and dated)
- Letter of Employment (Original)
- 2010 Tax Transcript (Original)
- 2009 Tax Transcript (Original)
- 2008 Tax Transcript (Original)
- Pay Stubs from the last 6 months
That being said, I have read on here from interview experiences that the CO may ask for the W2 and 1040s from the last tax season or two. I will be making sure my wife has these in her hand at the interview as well as have her submit these to VFS office before the interview.

Hi thanks for giving me this info.
I have related question:
For DS-230 form, if I am sending all original documents for beneficiary's birth certificate, marriage certificate, and police certificate then do I also need to send certified copy of the above documents?
I read somewhere that I also need to send copies of above documents. Please clarify.
Thanks for your help.
When you send the DS-230 in, send an extra copy of the above documents. These do not need to be certified since you are already sending the originals. This is what I did. I believe this extra copy packet would be for their records as they will return the originals to the beneficiary at the time of the interview.
At my wife's interview, I will also have her keep an extra copy of everything just in case they ask for another set of the packet(s).

We went the CR-1 route as well and filed a month after I got back from India (mid Feb 2011 with a priority date of March 1). I would have filed sooner if I could have and I don't think there is any issue in filing right after the marriage after the correct documents are collected. We got a RFE due to our marriage not being registered, so I would definately advise that you have this done while you are there and it will save you much headache and time later. I am hoping for my wifey to be here in Feb. 2012. All the best to you both.

Hi Friend:
This is what I did.
I sent DS230 and supporting documents to my Agent in USA on November 11th 2011 and he received on November 14th 2011 and forwarded the same to NVC and they received on November 16th 2011.
I called NVC on November 21st and checked about my case status. They told everything ok, and going to schedule an interview. I
asked when is going to my interview, they replied it might take probably in January 2012.
Then immediately, I have sent a e.mail to NVC asking for an early interview date. On 28th November, NVC sent a interview letter notifying my interview will be on January 26th 2012. Next day received a e.mail from NVC notifying that it has been rescheduled on December 13th.
If your file has been not transferred to respective embassy, call directly to NVC and find out your interview date. Then sent a e.mail,
saying that you would like to have an early interview.
My interview is taking place at Colombo, Sri Lanka US Embassy.
Good Luck
Krishna
Thanks, friend. All the best on your upcoming interview!

Hi Guys:
The members of Visa Joourney.com are always helpful. Earlier my interview has been Schedule on January 26, 2012 and now it has been rescheduled on December 13, 2011.
I will post my interview experiences.
Krishna
Hi, Krishna! Congrats! Couple of questions for you...
1) Which Embassy is the interview at?
2) How did you have the interview appointment rescheduled? (Did you call and request it or did they reassign the date?)
Thanks.

Looking at the cover letter here on VJ it says
1) Police Clearance - which I already have
2) Passport Office Police Certificate - this I don't have
Oh, ok. I called NVC when I was gathering my documents and they told me not to send the local PCC (for New Delhi U.S. Consulate) and just send the Passport Office PCC which I did. Actually, the RPO (regional passport office) goes through the local police station for inquiry of the spouse and then they also do their own further secret inquiry of the spouse. This makes the RPO PCC cover everything the local PCC would and then some more.
Also, if you go to the NVC website:
http://travel.state.gov/visa/fees/fees_5455.html?cid=9215
- select India as our country from the drop down menu
- scroll down to Police Records and it states,
"All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India,
should obtain police certificates from the local Passport Office."
Try and give NVC a call and let us know what you hear. (603) 334-0700
My only question would be, would the US Consulate in New Delhi ask for the local district PCC during the interview?...I doubt it but any replies would help clarify this.
-
Well she has the police clearance. Which was done by the district police station. But her passport has not been returned by the passport office. I'm having my wife call the Passport office tomorrow to see the status.
Thank you Steven, I'll just wait till we have that in hand.
I mistakenly got her district PCC done as well which is not required. But I do have a question...why does the passport office have her passport? Was she having her name updated/your name inserted as husband?
-
Thank you for the reply
I was thinking maybe they would wait and my wife could take it in during the interview. It's taking a long time for her to get it. It's been a month since she requested the PC
I agree that you should wait and send it all in at once. This is what I did.
I see that your consulate is New Delhi...which is the same as my wife. I was in a similar situation as you are as I was ready to send the packet in middle of October. My wife didn't get her PCC from the passport office until middle of November and then DHL'd it to me. I sent it altogether 11/21/2011 and it was approved and the case closed on 11/25. So, it seems that at least the NVC review stage is going pretty fast right now.
Has the police already done the inquiry? After the inquiry, the report goes to an office (SDM?-sub district magistrate?-this may be a different office for your wife according to where she lives) and then when it is cleared from there it can be picked up at the passport seva kendra (PSK) office. My wife went to this (SDM) office and inquired about when it could be sent to the PSK and it helped rush things about a week. She was told when it was finally sent the next day and the following day after that she went to the PSK to collect the PCC and get her passport stamped. Sometimes the online portal is not updated right away so if you find out that the PCC report has left the 'SDM' office then you may be able to pick it up before the online portal is updated. Hope our experience helps a lil'...hang in there, dost.

Ours was also sent on 10/20/2011. We have not heard anything after the acceptance message.
Just an update...
I called NVC earlier today and the operator said that my DS-3032 is still outstanding and they are waiting for it. I replied that my wife emailed it on October 20 and received the automated acceptance email. She then put me on hold to speak with her supervisor. When she returned, she said that they are still reviewing my choice of agent email and once it is invoiced I will be able to pay it online.
Later on today...
I received 2 emails from NVC today at 3:51 and 4:14; respectively. The first email says that the choice of agent has been registered. The second email states that NVC is still awaiting the DS-3032. When I went to the NVC sign in website I was finally able to pay the bill.
Maybe there has just been a lag for a week or so. Hopefully everyones will start to clear up soon too. Do call NVC though and find out the particulars regarding your case. All the best.

I am in the same boat as you, hic36. I just called NVC and the operator mentioned that the payment can only be done through an IE browser. After looking at my particular case she said that my DS-3032 is still outstanding and they are waiting for it. Your DS-230 fee bill should be available for you to pay now. If still not available, call NVC Operator ASAP.
Thanks, Navyk. I happened to call earlier today and the operator said that it could take 5-10 business days for the bill to generate. The operator did say that they have received my Affidavit package and approved that and are now awaiting the DS-230.

can you post the acceptance email ?
