  1. Bring the items mentioned on the interview letter and I would recommend the original marriage certificate and a copy. The only thing the IO asked for was to see the original marriage certificate and kept another copy. Our interview consisted of answering the questions on the application form like, "What is your name?" "What is your Mother's name? "What is your SSN?" (As my wife had one) "Where were you borned?" "Date of birth?" Then all the "Have you ever.....?" As she asked these questions she checked the corresponding line on the application with a red pen. They know that you have not been together for a very long time and have very little co-mingling of assests. It is at the ROC that you will need more evidence of co-mingling.

    Good luck,

    Dave

Thank you so much for the quick response Dave! You're awesome!

  2. Hi Everyone!

I'm kinda confused regarding what I need to bring to our interview for our AOS in about a month for a 2 year Green Card. I've been reading through past posts but I'm still lost.

we do have a copy of everything that we sent in for our AOS application back in August.

what else do I need to bring just in case they ask for evidence of a bona fide marriage?

We have wedding photos, and utility bills with both our names on them.

My husband (beneficiary) does not have a U.S. issued ID yet, so my bank wouldn't let me add him to my checking account. I do own a house, so I'm not sure if they will allow for me to add him to the mortgage or deed of the house even though he doesn't have his U.S. ID yet.

Please share your experiences? Thanks so much and have a great weekend! :D

  3. I received my EAD last week, and I've been perusing the internet for teaching jobs in CA. I'm not overly hopeful for a full time job at this point in the year, but I would like to be able to substitute.

Apparently most teaching jobs go through EdJoin.org now, but it is kind of confusing if you've never used it. I can't really find subbing jobs on there.

Does anyone know if that's because they haven't been listed, or if there is some trick I don't know about?

I have searched the website high and low, and can't figure out how to apply for the substitute list!

I've also been searching CraigsList, Monster, etc.

I should add that I don't have a full California credential, or at least not yet, because my degrees and Canadian teaching license are still being evaluated. I have taken the CBEST, and still waiting for the results. So my options for now are a fulltime or PT at a private school not requiring a credential, or subbing at public schools.

I just don't know how to get on the sub list!

    Hi CBM!

Which part of CA. are you from?... I know that in Orange County, most districts will allow substitutes to fill out an application and when you have all of the prerequisites, then most likely, they will automatically add you to the sub. list and they will start to call you to work.

In terms of subbing, you need a 30-day Emergency Permit, which allows you to only sub. If you want to actually teach, you'll need to get an actual credential.

Hopefully, your Canadian credential will carry over to California, if that's the case, then you would have a better chance of getting a full-time position.

Your best bet is to go to either go to the districts that's closest to you or call them and ask them if you can speak with an HR person about subbing.

    Good luck!

  4. All you need is a passport or photo ID (copy of divorce documents if divorced within last 90 days). Check the Orange County Clerk-Recorder website:

    http://www.ocgov.com/ocgov/Clerk-Recorder%20-%20Tom%20Daly/Services/Marriage%20Services

You can file application and make an appointment to get married online .....were scheduled for May 25th in Laguna Hills :-)

    Hi Andy,

Can you please let me know how did you file the marriage application online? I tried to fill in the application directly from the Orange County Clerk REcorder's website, but it wouldn't allow me type in anything??? Thanks so much! :help:

  5. I would say get there on time of her flight arrival.........lol

Most of the time paperwork itself is not that takes long, but there are times when multiple international flight comes in and there are not enough officers to do the paperwork for everyone.

For K1 and CR1 they ask them to wait until officer is available, while officers are working with the other non-immigrants and clearing them.

Thank you so much! I'll try to be there early then!

  6. Hello Everyone!

My fiance will arrive at LAX around 3:30 in the afternoon next Saturday. I was wondering if anyone had recently gone through LAX and know the length of time you had to wait for your love one to complete all the paperwork with the immigration officer?

I wanted to be there on time to meet him, but I wasn't sure how much time is needed for him to complete the paperwork at the airport. I've read in past posts it could take anywhere from 30 minutes to 3 hours, that's a huge gap in time! Any suggestions would be appreciated...Thanks a bunch! :D

Thank you! I was trying to find their web page, but no luck....you've made my day! Good luck to the both of you!

  8. Hello everyone!

I was wondering, when you did your civil wedding ceremony at city hall, what documentations did they require from you and your fiance(e)?

Please provide a full list of what he needs to bring with him so that I can have my fiance get the necessary documents over in VN before he arrive in the states...

After reading some of the posts...I've heard horror stories about beneficiaries not having proper documentation, therefore, the ceremony was delayed in the states... Thanks for your help!

  9. She went down and picked it up in person Tuesday afternoon. Then I received the email version from the Consulate that same evening. I filled out the I-134 (Affidavit of Support) tonight. Have to express ship final items at lunch tomorrow. My birth certificate, I-134, Letter of Employment, Tax forms for 2010, NOA2 letter, Notarized timeline, notarized petitioner 10 year residence and anything else recent. I left her everything else when I was there a few months ago.

    Out of breath almost.

That's good! I thought you still haven't receive the appointment letter yet...Make sure you help her organize the paperwork...organization is key when it comes to presenting herself at the interview! Good luck and keep us posted with things! :)

  10. No JS. New I-134. Man, this date came up quick. I was scrambling today to get things together. I had to race 20 minutes back to the house to pull files off my computer, race to Office Depot to have 2 things printed, race to the bank to get the 10 year residence doc notarized and the timeline notarized, then race back to work. On top of that, I was going to race 45 minutes across town to see my attorney to do the I-134 but we have tornadoes today. Will have to try again tomorrow. Also, with yesterday being my first day at a new job, getting my boss to sign the 'Letter of Employment' is sitting in his InBox. Need that too.

Status: P4 hasn't been sent out yet to my SO, but interview set for 3 weeks from now. If I hadn't called DoS, how would they expect us to have all of these documents prepared, medical, etc... in time for the interview.

I have to start a new thread for our next concern. Her police record for when she worked in Taiwan for 3 years. Like I said, new post.

    Hi Jerry,

if your fiancee haven't receive the appointment packet via e-mail or snail mail yet, you need to have your fiancee go directly to the consulate ASAP and tell them that you already have an interview scheduled, but haven't receive the appointment packet yet, they will give her the appointment letter she'll need for the medical exam...A similar thing happen to us as well...I'm sure you already read some of my posts already,we had even worse case scenarios than you, but in the end, we overcame all the obstacles, so can you!

  11. You filed for a different visa and the process is different so the information you proivided is misinformation when it applies to a K1 filing OP question..

They can come to the US with just the medical that has been accepted at the time the visa is issued, but they must have a Civil Surgeon update the vaccinations, complete the medical forms for AOS in the sealed envelope provided by the CS and they also transcribe the vaccinations in that packet...

The vaccinations are cheaper in VN but cant be done faster than the schedule allows... He can just come over on the visa and get the additional shots when he gets here... If he were closer to the scheduled date of the second round it would be good to get them done there...

Thanks for clearing things up Scott! I know the shots are cheaper over there, but from what my fiance told he, the culture is really strong it left him fairly fatigue/exhausted for over a week...I don't know what type of culture do they use over there, and I don't know if it's worth the saving a few bucks...

  12. nobody keeps track of the vaccinations?... Thats a good one. .. I guess a Civil Surgeon is not needed either.. when did they stop requiring the CS complete the medical forms for AOS that documented the vaccinations being up to date?

He can come here, but the more he has left to do the more it will cost to get through AOS..

I'm kinda confuse here, so can he come here with only one vaccination done in VN and have the rest of his vaccination done in the U.S?....

Or the U.S. government requires 2 vaccinations to be done in VN before he can enter into U.S. grounds.

  13. Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone knows how many vaccinations are needed before my fiance can enter the U.S.? He just passed his interview and he's waiting to pick up his visa this Thursday.

We both decided that it's best that he came over as soon as he can, but he only had 1 round of vaccination which was sometime in April before his interview...

My question is, can he come to the U.S. and have the other vaccinations done in the states...OR he must have his vaccinations done in Vietnam before he can enter the U.S. :help:

Also, if he needs to have his 2nd round of vaccination done in Vietnam, is there anyway that he can do it sooner than June, since that's the date that Cho Ray supposedly schedule for his 2nd round of vaccination. Thanks for you input!

Good luck to everyone who's interview in April!

  14. Congrats...

Your timeline shows 442 days to pink. A very long one... Had me a little nervous til I noticed your pckt 3 sat dormant on your side for quite a while.

Anyway thank you for providing the interview details. I wonder do they normally not look at the Dinh Hon fotos, or was it just this particular dude?

     Best!

Actually,it was the consulate's fault, they did not send the packet to the correct address, we didn't find out until way later, that's when I had told my fiance to go to the consulate and pick it up...I can't really say about the engagement photos, but this CO was very particular as to what he's looking for...he wants to see the genuine side of our relationship...that's why he looked carefully at the content of our letters and the nature of our photos...Good luck!

My internet has been down. I read about your Pink last night. I am so happy for you both.

Thanks! good luck to you and your other too!

  15. If you plan to fly back with him then I recommend you buy both tix here..for the peace of mind. Or..get a quote for the date you plan to fly back and ask him to go both EVA office in SG @ 2A-4A, Tôn Đức Thắng, P.Bến Nghé, Q.1 (08) 3822 4488 and any agents he knows to check on the fare..then decide. You guys still have lots of time until July, but make sure you check the date of his visa expiration next week when you get it. Good luck!!!

Thanks for the info. Ronnie! They quoted me around $900-$1000 here...kinda expensive for a one way on EVA!

Congratulations!!! Peace and many blessings for your future together! :star:

Thanks Michael! ....Good luck to you and your other too!

  16. Here is what happened at the interview...my fiance came to the consulate around 8:00 and was interviewed around 10:30 by a young Anglo-male, the interview was over before 11:00... my fiance first greeted the CO and the CO greeted back.

After the greeting, the CO ask to see the following evidence: pictures, letters, airline tickets/boarding pass, phone bill.

The CO examined the pictures very closely at over 200 pictures my fiance had brought, the surprising thing is, the CO did not look at the engagement ceremony photos!

The CO also looked very closely at all the written letters and gift receipts we had sent to each other.

After looking at the evidence, CO began to ask my fiance the following questions:

    1. Who is the petitioner?

    2. How do you know your fiancee? Who introduced you two? Where does this person live?

    3. Is your fiancee married? How many kids does she have?

4.ARe you married? Do you have kids?

    5. How did your fiancee arrive in the U.S.?

    6. What does your fiancee do for a living? who's her boss?

7.Do you have any relatives in the US?What are their names? Where do they live?

8.Did you both have an engagement ceremony? How many people attended? Did anyone from her side of the family attended?

9.How many times has your fiancee visited you? when was the last time you saw each other? (we chatted online 2 days before the interview, so I took a photo of us chatting on Yahoo Messenger, and I told my fiance to show that to them, in case they ask that question  )

    10. When did you propose to her? when was the engagement ceremony?

    11. Who are her friends? Co-workers?

After all these questions...the CO gave my fiance a pink slip and told him' Congratulations!" you can pick up your visa on 4/28! Hope this helps!

  17. That's about what I paid for Hang's one way tix from SGN to SFO. Tell him to look around in VN, there are lot of ticket agents..you may find one cheaper from there, you will need to pay with USD cash :P

But how legit are these travel agents over there any way? I was thinking of telling him to go directly to the airline and check for the price himself...he wants to fly back with me in July on EVA, I really don't like any other airline.

  18. Try EVA Airways.

I believe they have promotion rigth now.

That's what they quoted me when I called one of the travel agency that I usually book my flights. I wanted to get him a flight that is the same as mine's...I'll be returning this summer so I can spend some time with his family one last time before we say 'bon voyage'...

  19. Most awesome of news. God bless you both.good.gif

Please if possible give us details and help any others about to go through. We have several about ready to interview.kicking.gifkicking.gifkicking.gif

    Go buy hangers.

Yes, I'll post the details later as my fiance is still trying to gather himself together because of the great news! He's being kinda delirious at this time.

  20. Congratz Leelee & Tuan!!! Pickup your visa next week before buying the plane tix for him..

    Welcome to the Club

Thanks Ronnie! I just called one of the travel agency and they said one way from VN to U.S. is $898.00 cash! Yikes! That's a lot for a one way trip...does anyone know any cheaper rates out there?

  21. Congratulations to you both.

I know you had a lot of concerns - family not at the engement, engagement on first visit, same last name etc. This just goes to show once again that every case is different, and if you present the info in the correct way and it's real then you will most likely get pink. I'm glad you didn't let the negative posts get you down.

Now go build that smoking patio

You are absolutely right, there's no formula...the CO that interviewed my fiance was very pleased with what he saw...the CO was constantly nodding with uh-huhs and good, good as he browse through the evidence...particularly the pictures of me and my fiance's family doing things together.

    No smoking patio necessary, because he's a non-smoker! :)

  22. Hello everyone! What a journey! I am so thankful for everyone, especially Scott, Jim, Ronnie, Curtis, Anh Map...and many others who has helped me and my fiance on our preparation for the interview,...Thank you especially to those who gave us words of encouragement to keep the faith! :innocent:

His interview was very short and sweet...despite the fact that we were worried about me having only visited him once before the petition, he passed! So to everyone who's still in their journey...believe in yourself and your relationship and you'll be fine. Let me know if I can help you in any way...I'll post the details later! :dancing:

    Good luck and take care!

    Leelee and Tuan
