  1. Hi Guys,

I have received Interview letter for New Delhi, India consulate today. And it have FNU written prior to my wife's name which means "First Name Unknown". Then I called NVC and they said since in my wife's passport Surname Section is blank. That's why NVC automatically put FNU before his first name.

Since the interview letter is generated with FNU prior to first name, so I am wondering whether visa will be issued like that or what? Any suggestions or advice!!

    Thanks !

If your letters from "USCIS" and NVC have the format like <Surname>,<First Name> then I think there will be no problem. The name on the Green Card will appear the same format <Surname>,<First Name>.

Yes the visa will be issued liked that.

    I had the exact situation.

    Heres the visa.

  2. Also is it

PPC (Passport Police Clearance) from Regional Passport Office

    or

    PCC (Police Clearance Certificate)

Are they same or dirrenet and since my wife is from India, which one will I need?

    Josh

First of all you need BOTH

"POLICE REPORT: Each applicant aged 16 years and older must submit a police certificate that includes information regarding the applicant including all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s) and the disposition of each case(s). All Indian IV applicants aged 16 and above, residing in India, should obtain police certificates from the Regional Passport Office. These certificates are valid for one year from the date of issuance."

Police Certificate is from "local" Police Station where you reside (village, town, district etc)in Inida, you need this first in order to obtain PCC(Passport Clearance Certificate).

TIP: If you want to get the Police Certificate fast all you need is just Rs 1000~2000 under the table LOL.

PCC(Passport Clearance Certificate) is from Reginal Passport Office. Heres a link http://passport.gov.in/cpv/Forms.htm , I think you need Form No. 2.

  3. I Luv U Guys, you are all awesome. I am so happy that I have found this Form. I will send in all the Orginal Documents to NVC and I will also send in PCC (As Per Kuldip). I guess it better to start to collect all these documents now, because I know my USCIS was updated recently, but I will be waiting for the e-mail from USCIS with the good news. Since I didn't see any comments on the Documents needs, I guess I am Good.

So this is My Final List and I will be calling my wife and have her start to collect these Documents. Than You Again To Everyone:

    Beneficiary Paperwork Requirement (Wife)

    Cover and Cover Letter

    DS-3032 (Choice of Agent)

    DS-230 Documents Requirements (IV Package)

Two Passport-Style Photo (Put Name, D.O.B. and NVC Case number on the Back)

Completed and Signed Form DS-230 Part I

Completed and unsigned Form DS-230 Part II

Photocopy of Beneficiary Passport Biographic Data Page

    Original Marriage Certificate

    Original Birth Certificate

    Original Police Certificate

PCC (Passport Police Clearance) from Regional Passport Office (Passport Clearance Certificate) make sure you send ORIGINAL

Photocopy of all Above Listed Documents.

    Josh

JUST REMEMBERED! I don't know if all the Regional Passport Offices do the work the same in India, when your wife get the PCC from Regional Passport Office they will give her the certificate(PCC) and will place a stamp on the passport, if they put a stamp include a photocopy of that stamp in the IV packet. Because my wife has a stamp on her passport when she got the PCC.

  4. Hello there Guys, I have been reading around this Form and I am a bit confused about Original/Certified Documents to go along with DS-230 and send all of them to NVC. I thought that you need the orginal Doc when you go for the Interview. If I send everything orginal to NVC, will I get my orginal Back. If I am sending NVC Orginal Information Plus Photocopy of all the Orginal Paperwork, this would mean that I will get my Orginal Back when my Wife is at the Interview and They will keep the Photocopy of the Paperwork for there record, Am I correct with this Inforamtion?

It is better if you send the Original Documents for IV Package along with DS-230 form. Make sure you write your case number on upper right hand corner of "every" document especially on the originals you send. Don't worry your wife will get everything back after on/after the interview.

  5. Now I would really love it if someone can explain those 3???? Police cert everyone needs one,,,, If you have had trouble with the law than YOU DO NEED a Criminal Report that might take a couple of months depending on the country but most of us I'm sure haven't had trouble with the law,, if arrested than you need a criminal report but most of us DON'T NEED ONE.

What is a Passport Police Clearance???

Everyone that I know of have ONLY sent a police certification to NVC and nothing else and that is the only one I will be sending really soon.

Sorry its not PCC(Passport Police Clearance) I typed it wrong, its PCC (Passport Clearance Certificate)

What is a Passport Police Clearance???

PCC (Passport Clearance Certificate), Its is a requirement for India.

  8. I did get the checklist from the internet...

my problem is about the PCC... They said that they need some sort of letter from Immigration authority stating that PCC is required...

What type of check list are you talking about is it from the NVC. If it is from the NVC then go to the Passport Office and show them the check list letter. They will issue you a PCC or write to NVC that you don't have the PCC right now but will present it on the interview day.

  9. I was wondering if you guys had any tips or any piece of advice when it comes to sending a whole bunch of paper to the NVC. Did you guys paper clip the tax transcripts for a particular year together or staple them? Also did you write down a page number or NVC case number on every single paper sent? (except on the originals of course)

Agree with Markieboy. Make sure you write your NVC case number on the upper left corner of each and every document.

  10. I do know that the PCC HAS to be within 6 months of THE INTERVIEW. so dont get a PCC too much in advance lest you end up having to get another one. Go to the consulate's page and make sure or just call them and try to talk to a human there to get the answer. hope this helps.

PCC (Passport Police Clearance) is good for a year. The Police Clearance Certificate is only good for 6 months.

  11. Hey guys,

I'm thinking ahead a bit and im currently at the AOS step. I have a few questions which I hope could be answered :)

1)I chose to be the agent of choice for my wife in India. Since her signature is needed shouldn't she send the DS-230 with the documents to NVC?

2)I read in several places on the state dept website about sending original copies of civil documents and other places it says copies of originals. Which should my wife send?

3)To get PCC, do they require the original letter from NVC requesting for one? It takes a whole day standing in the line to get one of these and I guess we wanted to k ow in advance. People who have brought spouses from india esp from chennai might know this answer.

4)Should my wife wait till the AOS fee, form, IV fee etc is accepted to send the package (if she needs to)? It takes about 2 weeks for the package to reach NVC if sent from India.

Thanks guys, I dunno what I would do without VJ!

For question 1 its not DS-230 for choice of agent its DS-3032. Yes she needs to sign and date the DS-3032 and send it to NVC. You can email her the form DS-3032 when you receive it from NVC.

For question 2 read the steps on travel.state.gov (here, make it easy for you http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3190.html).

For question 3 (if the Passport office in ahmedabad its hard) read some forums about the ahmedabad PCC.

For question 4 after you have receive the invoice for Affidavit of Support pay the AOS fee $88 then print the coversheet then submit it with form I-864 (for more, read instruction on travel.state.gov) then after that you will get second invoice its for the IV $400, pay it print the coversheet and send the DS-230 package and civil documents.

Depends on you she can send the DS-230 package and civil documents from India or you can submit it from the US.

  12. Hello, I am a US citizen and am preparing I-130 paperwork to be filed for my sister.

Here is the list of documents I have:

    1. Affidavits

    - my affidavit stating that she is my real sister etc

    - sister's affidavit about her DOB, that I am real brother etc

    - father's affidavit

    2. Sister's passport ID page showing DOB, father and mother names

    3. My naturalization certificate proving I am citizen

    4. My birth certificate showing father name

    5. Many educational documents/certificates from Universities/colleges etc showing that we both have same father on those records.

The problem is that my sister does not have her birth certificate. She tried but the records are so old and could not get from the local registrar office - so she has made that statement in her affidavit. And we are showing through various academic document that we have common father.

My question is if the above documents are good for the application?

    Any comments/feedback much appreciated.

Agree with Yuanddan, “Trying the correct office that would have the records? May have to go to birth place and check a records office there.”

I don’t know what part of India are you from but my suggestion is go to the local municipal registrar office at your place in India then get a letter from them stating that “they don’t have the record in their office”. The title on the letter should be “Non traceable/Non available certificate issue under section 17 of the Births & Death Registration Act 1969. And you should have “two” affidavits from relatives stating that they confirm the birth date, place of birth, father’s name and mother’s name.

In our family we have the same thing, three of my sisters don’t have records of their births at the local municipal registrar office. We did the (above).

I don’t think there should be a problem at USCIS, NVC and Consulate with these documents. Because all of my sisters are now US citizens.

If you they don’t accept any document proofs then get a DNA testing.

    4. My birth certificate showing father name

Question why are you showing only fathers name? wheres MOM?

  13. I read some older posts but I still don't know if I should put the A# in the requested fields?

I am a Naturalized Citizen and I have the Certificate of Naturalization and a US Passport. On the Certificate there an A# but since I am already a citizen, do I need to put this A# on the forms (I129F and G325A) ????

Please help!!!! I am like 99% ready to submit

    Thank you

Even if you don't put the A# number it will automatically appear on NOA1 and NOA2. I didnt put it in my form but saw it on NOA1 and NOA2.

  14. I am filing form G-639 in order to obtain a copy of my green card. I have been a U.S citizen for years and never thought i would need a copy of my greencard. However, in order to obtain a visa to my home country now they are requiring that I submit a copy of my greencard. So just needed help in figuring out which option to choose on the form G-639 : the freedom of information act or privacy act.

    thanks for your help

If you dont have the Green Card copy you can submit other documents like old passport, original I-130 etc for more details check this link https://indiavisa.travisaoutsourcing.com/requirements/display

    Read number 9.

Don't know why the consulate is strict in California.

  15. Hi,

We seriously need some help regarding immigration interview for CR-1 catagory. Here is the little back group, I will try to make it to the point.

My wife and I got married in June. Wedding in June was just with close family members. Only about 10-15 people. We got the marriage certificate (with June wedding date) and filed I-130. We DON'T have much pictures to show for this wedding and invitation card and marriage certificate shows that wedding was at my HOME. And invitation card also shows that wedding was in the "afternoon".

We did our grand wedding in January with about 500 people (friends/family) and we have awesome wedding album to prove that. Invitation card for this wedding says that wedding was "at night at party plot" and ofcourse pics shows everything.

Here are the possible interview questions we are not sure what to answer:

    Any suggestions are welcome.

We have to tell them that we got married in JUNE. And since we don't have picture for JUNE wedding, we will show them November wedding.

    1) Should we go ahead and tell them that we had two weddings?

    2) Should we not tell them, unless we are asked specifically about that?

    3) Do we have to give them wedding invitation card? If yes, only from JUNE wedding, or both JUNE and JANUARY wedding?

    Please HELP.

Agree with VJ-fan and Tero. One question did you got married 3 times?

  16. Hi All,

I have a question about documents needed to be send with DS-230.

Two passport-style photographs (2X2 inches) of the beneficiary. - GOOD

Completed and signed form DS-230 Part I by the beneficiary- GOOD

Completed and unsigned form DS-230 Part II by the beneficiary - GOOD

Photocopy of the beneficiary's passport biographic data page - GOOD ( Certified )

Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s birth certificate - Not Sure ( Only have Certified Copy not Original, is tat OK ? )

    Original/certified copy of beneficiary’s and petitioner’s marriage certificate - GOOD ( original )

Original police certificate(s) of the beneficiary - GOOD ( Original )

IS that ok if Birth Certificate is Certified ?

    Thanks in Advance.

    It on the website http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html#certificates

"You and each family member immigrating with you to the United States must submit to the NVC original documents issued by an appropriate authority, or certified copies of those documents listed in this section."

But the Certified Birth Certificate must from the official custodian of birth records in your country of birth.

  17. Hello All,

So what is the Verdict on sending AOS Documents and DS-230 together ? Are we supposed to send them together or each individually.

In My Case , I already paid AOS Fees, it shows Paid. But still havent gotten the Invoice for DS-230. So should i just wait or jsut send AOS Package now.

One more question :- Do i need to send in any 2010 W-2's ( i have not filed taxes yet ) ?

    thanks in advance

You can send them separately. Print out the Cover Sheet and send the AOS package as soon as possible. and send the DS-230 package when you have paid the invoice and got the Cover Letter for DS-230.

Not sure about the W-2, maybe you can submit them on the interview or you can wait for the tax returns and include them in the AOS package but it will delay the the process.
