  1. The bank funds are optional. I decided to leave out all that part, mostly because thanks to the economy my house is under water and would show a negative. My income is qualifying on its own.

That should be okay to be honest. When I was called up for my interview, she didn't actually look at any of the evidence I took in except for the i134 itself..

  2. Okay I will skip that part. All she has now is the tax form for 2010. I guess I will send pay stubs and ask for an employer letter to be sure. You'd think they could just run my social security number for reported income!

No, dont expect them to do any work to be honest. Get an original employers letter and send that. Also send a letter from the bank, original as well, stating what your funds are and the status of your account. I am not sure how e-filing works but I took in 2 originals and each had one copy. Alongside, I took his tax returns and W2's. Try to send the sponsorship stuff as originals because as much as they seem relaxed about certain things, its the CO's mood that can determine their requirements. Don't take any chances.

  3. I e-file so there is nowhere to sign. I have a cover sheet from my accountant that I sign for his records, and my IRS signature is a PIN number. My fiance has my tax return for 2010 and they did not ask for anything prior but the form said it was okay to submit. My tax cover sheet shows the last two years so I put that data in.

Of course once we file for AOS I can have everything. I wish the I-134 stated if notarization is needed or not. Should I do another one notarized?

It says on the instructions that it need not be notarized.Anyone feel free to correct me if I am wrong. We didn't get ours notarized and the embassy didn't complain.

  4. London wrote to me asking me where my Packet 3 was when they had received it a week before they wrote to me. After a number of emails exchanged between me and whoever is on the other side, my fiance contacted his congress rep to ask them where my papers are. Within two-three days, the papers magically appeared.

I suggest you resend your papers on monday and when you're at the post office, ask for next day delivery by 9am. You should be able to track it on Tuesday if you send everything by Monday. Get the petitioner to contact their congress office and explain the situation to them and get them to chase it up.

  5. Well, I called the embassy and a lady there advised me that notarized copies are fine for now(she confirmed this with another colleague) however, she told me that we will need originals for AOS. I'll just take originals for everything except for the tax documents. Here's hoping they actually show up in the next 6 days!

  6. Just take as much as you can to prove your ties to UK. When my fiance contacted his congress rep about my visit, she contacted CBP on our behalf. They advised her that it is best for me not to visit US whilst I have a K1 pending as that automatically shows immigrant intent. When I got to my POE in Dublin, I was pretty much convinced that I would be turned back. I took a bundle of proof with me to show that I will return despite having a K1 in process. I had stuff like bank statements, letters from work, letter from a private clinic stating I am receiving some treatment etc etc The CBP officer asked me two questions: a) the purpose of my visit and b)If I was working at the time. He didnt look at the entire bundle I actually placed beside me, INFRONT of him. I was allowed entry and had the most amazing time!

my thoughts to you would be not to worry so much, just be honest and polite. They are actually nice people and they will look after you as long as you co-operate with them.

  7. We have everything together except for the original tax documents..We'll get the copies notarized anyway and see what happens. Could you please provide me a link of the information on the embassy website? I've been searching but I cant see it.

  8. Hey all..

Just needed some advice. USPS have not delivered any of the original documents sent via post by my fiance :( Is there any chance copies of tax returns would suffice or would he have to get his hands on originals? I noticed on another thread that the OP got theirs notarized. Should we do the same?

Also, on the i134 form itself, q.11 asks for 'intent' which is fine but for a K1, does he need to write something like "I intend to support 'x' financially upon her arrival US..." I read somewhere that for a K1 visa, we could leave it blank but I just need confirmation from those who have been through the process recently.

And finally, in the signature bit, does he sign his name or does he print his name which acts as his signature?

The interview is coming up on 15th August so I am as nervous as hell. In hindsight, the questions might come across silly but right now, any help would be appreciated!

  9. I have filled all the forms and ready to send off to the US embassy. My police certificate has also arrived 'NO TRACE'. I called the knightsbridge doctors and the can not schedule me earlier than June 1st. I am panicking cos I have left this too long ( I had to travel to africa for family occassions). Our NOA2 expires June 17. Will this be a problem??? Cos the embassy might get the result of the medicals June 5/6 and can't schedule and interview till July whe the NOA2 is expired. Please can anyone offer an advice..

I spoke to the USem in London about this as I have the same issue. Our petition expires on 30th June. This is what I was advised: Ask fiance to write a letter stating his intention to marry me and then get it notarised. Send it over to the embassy and all should be okay.

  10. I think you've got plenty of proof of ties to your country so you should relax. ^-^

So you're travelling on VWP? If they ask about your touristic visa denial, just say the truth and you'll be fine. You got plenty of proof now so they wont grill you for that anymore.

Not sure about this point though.. =/

I hope the proof is enough..i still feel like i have too little. I guess it's the paranoia from the b2 denial that haunts me. I will tell them the reason I was denied was because I didn't have enough proof. All i took with me was a letter from uni stating I am studying there and I have to return for my graduation

With regards to the letter from my fiance, it's just to tell them if anything bad happens in the two weeks that im there, he is there to take responsibility and i wont be relying on the state for anything. But i think for a 2 weeks holiday, it's probably abit much...or is it? I do have travel insurance for the two weeks as well.

  11. Have you gotten your ESTA approval? One of the questions asks if you have ever been denied a visa. Here's some info from CBP on visa denials https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/1097/kw/VWP%20eligibility%20questions/session/L3NpZC9kU21PVXp0aw%3D%3D/p/0/c/0

Yeah I have my ESTA approval, but I expect a grilling from them anyway because of the denied b2. The reason for my denial at that time was not showing enough ties to UK. This is why I am gathering enough proof this time.

  12. So folks, one week to go before I get to meet the infamous cbp at dublin airport :-/

I didn't know a two week holiday could make me as nervous as I am. Even when I am not doing anything wrong, I look guilty

This is what I have to show proof of ties to UK:

Letters from employers stating that I am working on ongoing temporary work and they expect my return by 31st May. I now have two temp jobs, one in the day and one in the evening.

I am currently receiving laser treatment which I have paid for in full, so I am required to return for that to complete the course of treatment. I also have a letter for this.

Bank statement to show I have some funds.

Payslips from the last month of work I have done. (I am newly employed)

Letter from fiance stating that he is inviting me to visit him for 2 weeks and he is going to take on any financial costs incurred. Do let me know if this is a good thing or not.

I have recently booked my medical so I will let them know that we've come so far with our potential k1 visa, so I am hardly going to screw it up. Infact my medical is on 1st June so I must return right away because I am totally paranoid over the NOA2 expiring :-/

Along with the above, I will show them my NOA2 and letter from congressman's office stating that nvc received our paperwork, processed it and have sent it to london.

I was going to book my driving theory test, but is it necessary? I would have presented this as a tie to UK. Should I just go ahead and book it? It's only 31 pounds so I don't know if it even means anything..

And finally, one issue that's playing on my mind..I have a denied b2 visa from last year march. How much of a problem is this going to cause?

  13. Sorry to totally hijack this thread but the poster above has just reminded me..I am a recent graduate with an overdraft to pay off. I only started working recently to pay it off but since I am travelling, I will be using my OD again. Will this be an issue? I plan on taking cash with me..will this be okay to show cbp officers?

  14. I am flying out in 2 weeks and this is what I have so far to show that I have to return:

    My return ticket

Copy of NOA2 and letter from congressman stating that NVC have received our paperwork.

Letter from employer stating that I am required to return to work after 31st May.

Letter from parents stating that I am living with them and they expect me to return to contribute towards bills as my father is unwell and recovering from an operation and currently off sick from work, therefore, I need to be back until my father returns to work.

Letter from a clinic stating that I am currently undergoing medical treatment which I have to return for in June as I have paid for it privately.

Confirmation of driving test in June.

Travel insurance for 2 weeks only.

If there's anything I can add to the above, please let me know. Also, I have been denied a b2 visa last year. This is when I was still a Kenyan citizen and I had not naturalised as a british citizen. How much of a problem would this cause?

  15. So wait..I am visiting my fiance in 2.5 weeks  but I am absolutely nervous about POE interrogation. Should I not mention that he is my fiance? I will be staying with him. I have my ties to UK paperwork in order but I don't think I have much to go on. Just a letter from my employer, return ticket, driving test confirmation and travel insurance for 2 weeks. I don't even know if this will suffice but hmm...any advice? My POE is in dublin by the way.

  16. She can definately ask for the the details, wht the visit was for and wht she did there etc. There is nothing wrong in it, in todays world customs / immigration does not just work as immigration offcier but they also have to double as the first line of response.

There has been some case where Arab men marrying American women for visa or just to enter US and then carry out a terrorist attack.

Last failed such public attempt was in NY where man from pak carried out such attack.

Officer was just expressing her opinon and there is nothing to complain about.

There have been cases where asian men, african men, english men etc etc marry for just a visa. This happens in many developed countries, not just the US. Does that mean that customs have the right to treat everyone like #######?

Anyway, To the OP.. My fiance went through this back in february. He is a white convert and he was asked what mosque he visits and whether he has ever been to the middle east. What the hell did that have to do with our trip to dublin? I can totally sympathize with you and I really hope you don't encounter problems again.

  17. I think you'll be fine. I've visited my husband when he was my boyfriend/ fiance and husband and i've never even been asked for anything but my return ticket and what his job is. I don't have a job here but i do leave my son with my parents while i go visit and I always get my mum to write me a letter saying he's at school there and when they're returning to work etc.. If you have any doctors appointment letters or repeat prescriptions take them with ya as proof as well. I think you'll be fine and I can't see why they judge you on the way you look. I'm going back for a 2 week visit on the 29th too :) Good luck :D

Were you ever asked anything about medical insurance? I think I read about this somewhere but can't remember where..do we need it?

I wish you best of luck on your trip. Hopefully I will be there when you let us know how it all goes for you :) Good luck to you as well!

  18. I am going to do exactly the same thing as you on sunday. we've been apart for 8 months now and felt it was worth it as we are still in the process. good luck and when are you going?

Ahh best of luck to you  I leave in May. Let us know how it goes and what questions you're asked. We've been apart since february but I am actually losing hair thanks to the stress caused by the k1.
