    My husband still had an American bank account and used a check from there. If that doesn't work for you, you can use a money order, apparently.

    Sorry to hear about your son. You can maybe see if you can expedite your case for medical reasons? I don't know anythign about that process, though.

    I hope it works out well for you. WE are hoping to be in the US for the start of the new school year (which means September 2013). Apparently it is possible to win time at the NVC stage by gathering your documents beforehand. Hope it all works oit for you!
