We are in the process of waiting for my wifes interview which is scheduled for 19 July. I am currently moving mid June, is she able to come down and help me move down. How long is she allowed to stay, cause in normal cases, someone can stay for 6 months, does that change since you've filed. My wife still has ties to Canada with her parents house. I tried to e mail Montreal about moving my appointment since I'm bei forced to move, due to the military, but as normal it seems with me Montreal has failed to e mail me back

Thank you afmiller. Where are you in the process now?
I just finished the medical down in Toronto, and I have an appointment for 19 July, which they haven't responded about bumping up my date.
Inky,
Is my wife able to come down with me to the house where we will be living while we wait till 19 July. We will be leaving Canada at the end of June, so it will only be 2 weeks, I've seen where she's able to visit but not move down until she has the green card. After the interview how long does it take to get the IV and able to move down? At least I don't have to file to get the 2 year restriction removed.

Hello,
I initally started my wifes IV process through Toronto. It took only a few weeks from the time I sent the copies to them to recieve a response from and have the appt to bring the Original docs down to them. After they take and approve your I-130 they will forward the stuff to montreal and you will recieve and IV packet from them. In the packet you must complete a few steps (make sure you print off the checklist, it doesnt say to, but do it, cause that held us up). You will get the packet in 4-6 weeks, it took us a little longer cause they messed up on the address and we never got the first copy.

If they don't move her date up, is she still able to come down to the US for the 6 months? Her appt is in mid July for montreal. Another question, After the interview how long does it normally take to process from there for her to get the IV? The papers say after she gets the IV she has to come down to the states and file for adjustment.

Thanks Inky, will send an e mail over to them asking to get it expidited, I am active duty, with my ETS (Seperation date) leaving Canada on 28 Jun at the latest, it might even be sooner, depending on other stuff. Got Hired for an Active Guard Reserve slot in NY. Which I will still be active duty, but for the NY Guard.

Update,
Finally got the papers saying she is able to go for the interview in montreal. I read somewhere that they can possible bump up the date for when she has the interview, cause right now it stands for July, and I'm moving at the latest in June. Any idea where I can find the doc that said that or who I can contact to try to expidite the process.

http://montreal.usconsulate.gov/content/visas/pdfs/visa_checklist.pdf is the checklist, no where in the IV pack did it mention to print this and send it in :/. From that checklist I reasoned that I send it blank due to 2 reasons.
#1 The appointment letter showing the date and time of your interview
#2 Medical examination (do not obtain at this time, information will be sent with Packet 4, interview instruction letter) - I dont have an interview instruction letter

I'm till a little fuzzy on the DCF. I went to Toronto to file the I-130 which was accepted. Paperwork got sent to Montreal. Montreal sent me a pack which was late cause they misplaced the first one. After which I got the papers together the DS-230 I think it was. I had to fight with the CSC for about a month and 1/2 over e mail cause they didnt understand that the local DHL courier had no idea what to do. After that finally in december I recieved a letter saying that I forgot a Checklist pdf which I didnt see was required in the paperwork. After the christmas holiday I e mailed Montreal Consulate to ask them about the paper if it needed to be filled or left blank, got the auto gen reply, we will respond in 2 weeks if it meets our critera response, after 2 weeks I got no reply, cause of the message saying its not about certain stuff we wont even reply. So.... I e mailed the CSC to ask them about it, they said they only do the send of paperwork and scheduling appts for the consulate. After that reply (like 1 day) I e mailed the Consulate again, its been over 2 weeks and still no reply, I decided to send a paperwork in blank with a letter saying that I have tried to contact you via e mail with no response and I didnt know if it should be blank or filled. Yesterday I was having issues with DHL again. This entire process has beena big head ache :/

Hello,
I am currently living in Canada and got married to a Canadian. In a few months both my Wife and myself need to head to the US because of me being moved for the military. We originally thought that we could get the green card up here in canada, but the whole system is convulated and the Montreal Consulate and the DHL Courier have been screwing up and have caused delays. Is there any form I can fill out to have my wife move to the US and finish the IV in the US. I started to read about the 'Employment Authorization Document', is it possible to file for one of these while we have the IV process on going. We do have a case number already. Thanks for the help
Can my wife move

We are taking 2 cars down, mine will be loaded with stuff, all she will have are the Birds, the rest of the Household goods are being moved via a Military contract carrier.
