  1. Can anyone describe for me what the interview process is like? For example, are you always interviewed by two people (it seems that way from some of the reviews i've read)? Also, do they look through your documents before they begin the interview? How long should someone expect to be at the consulate the day of the interview? Thanks in advance for your answers

  2. We brought phone records and text records. They didn't want those, they only wanted to see chat. We sent over 800 pages of chat with our k1, and that seemed to be a problem with the C0...if you search the mena forum around january 2010, you can find my thread about our first denial, and see what happened then. C0 asked specifically about chat logs. Hubby said we didn't have them. She then asked again, "are you sure you don't have any at home? Because you can bring them in". Hubby realizes in hindsight he should have said YES!! And let me gather what chat we do have to give to the consulate. He didn't realize how big a deal this would be. But its too late now. I can only hope to help others through our experience.

Do they actually read the chatlogs that you bring while you wait to be interviewed and look at the other documents?

  3. Loooks intersting.

My fiance visited me Two times in less than two months but for few days (lesss than a week..)

I guess if ure fiance came for more than a week its fine, but the most she comes the better it is..cause they will see that ure trying get together as much as u can do it and afford it.

Actaully im wondering if the Algerian embassy give easily visa to woman or to man...i heard so horribol things..about it i start to worry!!

Masha'allah, I don't know much about the Algerian Embassy but it seems they're generally a bit tougher in MENA consulates. So be prepared insha'allah.

  4. Thanks for the Advice Tany, i hope you both can pass this situation and it will only make ur relationship stronger

let me ask you, what proof have u took to the interview ?

I'm also curious what evidence you brought and did you bring no chat logs at all or only a little bit?

  5. Yes, you are correct. It took from 3/23 New York notification to the 3/28 before I saw tracking to confirm my package had arrived in Morocco and then another few days before it was in customs. It ended up that my fiance went to the post office to pick up the package because we knew it was there by the tracking ID. Give your fiance the tracking number and he will be able to pick it up.

Ok, I'm hoping it will arrive by Monday or Tuesday insha'allah.

  6. Yes, it means that once the mail leaves the United States the US Postal Service no longer has any direct means of tracking it, and they rely on foreign postal services to provide them tracking information. Some countries are pretty good about providing this information and others are not. If you get any further tracking information then it will probably be when the package is accepted into customs in the destination country. After that you may get another update when the package has cleared customs, and yet another when it's been delivered. On the other hand, if the postal officials in the destination country are not very good about providing updated information then the status might never be updated again.

Thanks...if I understand correctly, this means that it has left the country already but possibly not been handled yet.

  7. Masha'allah, I sent the documents to my fiancee on Monday via Express Internation Shipping (USPS). I've been tracking it online and the last update was Tuesday afternoon saying, "International Dispatch, ISC New York (USPS)". It hasn't been updated since. Anyone else have this experience or have any idea what this means?

  8. Honestly, no one here knows. All we can do is speculate, but it is true that Moroccan women have had far fewer issues with getting a visa than to Moroccan men unless something unusual pops up. My SIL got her tourist visa without any sponsorship almost immediately after requesting it, and she barely speaks English. Unlike most men, my husband had a cursory interview, and received his visa within 24 hours. We had married within 10 days of our first meeting, and he's 21 years younger, both supposedly red flags. Mitigating factors are we're both Arab, both Muslim, can communicate easily in 3 languages. I can't tell you for sure why he had no AP, and no substantive interview. The CO's know why they do what they do, but it's rare that we know.

Masha'Allah...interesting. As a matter of fact, I did speak to an immigration lawyer and he said that having things in common such as religion and a solid means of communication (speak the same language) are very important factors.

  9. Yes, everyone is talking about the same situation. Most often, the FBI name check is not complete at the time of interview. The result of the interview is either a denial (sent back to USCIS) or an approval (pending additional processing which usually includes the name check). After an approval, occasionally people will receive the visa as soon as the next day, but this is rare (out of the VJ population at least). Usually (again, speaking of the VJ population), the visa takes from a couple of weeks to several months to be issued. Now, if your experience is with marriage and fiance visas of Moroccans in the U.S. bringing over their SO's, then it's possible that what you are saying is true - that's a smaller sample of the VJ population, and maybe the experience of that group is different. What everyone here is trying to clarify is that your typical beneficiary reading VJ will not get the visa the day immediately following an approval.

Tourist visas are a different story and as far as I know, it usually happens the way that you've described.

What exactly takes place during AP and do they just check the foreign spouse/fiance or both? Also, if they just do a name check then why does it take weeks for some people? Just curious

  10. I looked at the example form that they have here but I am not sure what to put for line 11 ("I intend/do not intend to make specific contributions"). They didn't check either box but it seems you would have to check one. Would it be "do not intend?" Also, in item 7 where it asks for salary information, do we write our current bank account balance under our salary?"

  11. you could always not read the food posts, and just read the ones that contain the information yr seeking. an oz of adab could go a long way. the regional forums are not 100% visa stuff, 100% of the time. the people posting helpful stuff do it 100% voluntarily. if part of their helpful stuff also involves tangents, so be it.

    Masha'Allah B-)

  12. Absolutely nothing to do with the thread but thank you for reminding me about artichokes. I bought some at the produce market on Saturday and completely forgot about them. I will eat them this evening. :)

:ot2: Enough with the food posts guys!!! To everyone else...thanks for the advice and keep it coming insha'allah. I like to share ideas.

  13. Hey mate

for skype go to view account just above your contact list, then you will see something in blue called view call history and just print out all your months of calls and so forth.. Also just pictures, letters, emails, cards, anything that can prove that you have been in an ongoing relationship.. hope this helps

Thanks everyone! Does anyone know how to print out the call/message history from yahoo messeger? Still can't figure that out

  14. i am thankful and i appreciate how much blessing i have , i pray for other people to have same or better experience than me , but we can take benefit of positive experiences or at least take the regular process ( wish i see normal you see it rare hhhhh ) it will be better for her to feel hopeful than feeling nervous

    تفائلو بالخير تجدوه

    ____________

i didnt say that but it can be a reason of many .

i really dont know what u cant get from my posts lol , anywyas ok ok ok you are right i am wrong if that will end it

and i really really pray for her to get a visa that fast

Barakallahu fiki, your posts are helpful and I understand what you are saying. Insha'allah, that is the normal time when they are approved...not if they say come back for another interview or bring papers...etc.

  15. There was someone recently who was told by the consulate that he'd have his visa the next day, or some short time frame like that. He sold his car, bought his plane ticket, etc, etc, etc. and he didn't get his visa for several weeks, past the date of his already purchased plane ticket. Ergo, the warnings not to buy tickets until visa is in hand. You can't depend on the "you'll have your visa in a couple of days" comment from the consulate. Anything can happen, and it's safest to buy ticket after visa is in hand. Good Luck. When is your fiance's interview?

Masha'allah.....I understand. My plan was not to rush into anything, only to take information advice from those who have more experience with this process insha'allah. Thank you and any other advice is welcomed.

  16. Other than the taste-tests, I haven't even eaten any yet. I'm waiting until Friday to make the blood orange marmalade and the red currant red raspberry. I am feeling lazy tonight. I'm making artichokes right now. Can you imagine if I had actually used the peach liquer the peach passion fruit called for? That would have made for an awesome post.

Focus people!!! Does anyone know how long from approval in Casa does it take to have the visa in hand on average?

  17. + my interview was very eassy and short

+ the American interviewer was so nice ( the young man ), he asked me how i met my husband , is he a muslim ? how he become a muslim and when , who is the cosponsor and he asked me if i have family in the US , he asked me to see my wedding' album

+ they needed no extra papers , they gave me back the extra and original papers

+ i got the visa after after 2 days

    Alhamdulillah and congratulations :]
