  1. It seems like DHL is closed on weekends. The weird thing is that my wife's Waybill number now shows "Shipment/Waybill not found." under status. Before it showed that it was underway. Hopefully it's just because they are closed on weekends. Did anyone else have a similar experience?

  2. My wife's waybill number just got sent to her by email. Her interview was on 5/4. For those of you who got your waybill number yesterday around this time, has your passport arrived yet? Any update? Her's is being sent to Markham near Toronto, just wondering if there is a chance it might make it there by tomorrow or if she'll have to wait till Monday. It would be awesome if she could fly home this weekend.

  3. We got the interview date email on Saturday early morning as well. Now we have to set up the medical. What are the best links to information about preparing for the medical exam in Toronto that you have found?

On this link My http://www.visajourney.com/content/uscis-vaccination-requirements it said that flu season ends March 31st, so you don't need a flu shot if your appointment is after that. Does anyone know if that info is up to date?

Any pointers on the Medical would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks everyone for the replies.

We just got an email from the NVC that our case is complete. Now we are waiting to get an interview date assigned.

Does anyone know how long they take to assign an interview date after the NVC part is complete?

We are hoping to have my wife fly back for a visit in between now and the interview date. But we want to have the interview date scheduled so that she can bring that, as proof of ties to Canada, to the airport with her when she tries to fly. Hopefully the fact that she has an interview date and a return ticket will be enough for them to let her through!

  5. Hi everyone,

I'm American and my wife is Canadian. We had been living abroad, but I got a job in the US in September. We started applying for my wife's green card when we first got to the US. She has been living here on her 6 month visitor visa, but that is going to expire soon. She is going back to Canada to spend some time visiting family and friends, but we are planning to have her come back to the US after a few weeks, if possible. Our current plan is to have her stay with her family about 5 weeks, then buy a round trip from Toronto back to the US to stay for about 8 weeks. We figure by then she will be close to her interview date.

We originally thought that if she brings all her paperwork from the visa process, she should be okay getting through customs, but I have read many people talk about "strong ties" to Canada. She freelance writes through the web, so she doesn't have a strong tie as far as a job goes. Her only real tie is her family.

Has anyone in a similar situation tried to cross the border? Any advice/tips?

    Thanks!
