  1. The length of time is quite normal so far. You can check the status by talking to someone at the USCIS, but they can't help with any information. They will just tell you that the application has been received, in my experience.

If you call the number, there is an option that says "report a problem" or something like that.

Does anyone know how to contact a person at the immagration office to check status of your claim. I just want to make sure there are not any issues as I did file 3 months ago and had my biometrics 2 months ago. There is no record of my case status online or through the automated system at 1-800-375-5283.

  2. I didn't put it in an Express Mail envelope; not sure if the person I gave it to did though.

    Hi KarenLou,

Thanks for your detailed response. It really helps. Just need one clarification...you sent your RFE response in Express mail envelope from post office. Correct? I am not sure if USCIS will accept RFE response in Express mail envelope.

I am surprised to find everybody is taping the RFE envelope to the big envelope they mail.

    Thanks and Good Luck!

  3. Thanks, yeye.

    1) Could you share with us all the docs you sent for RFE response? Any detail you mentioned in cover letter?

    ---- I sent: bank statements from '09, '10 and '11

joint tax returns for '09 and '10

authorization for military housing and spouse travel from '08 and '10 (my husband is former Army)

    car insurance card

    life and health insurance policies

both our drivers' licenses -- they show different addresses but I explained why

our dog's rabies certificates from '10 and '11, which show our names and our old and new addresses

photographs of us in CA, HI, NV, OH and LA, covering '07 to '11

a phone bill, which shows both our numbers (family plan)

    and a few other military-related documents (dependent's card/out-processing orders ...)

I wrote a lengthy cover letter detailing the things I had sent and why I have not sent other things i.e: we have no utility bills, no children etc...

    2) Did you fit all the docs in RFE envelope or did you send all the docs in a bigger envelope?

------ I put the documents in a large envelope and taped the small (provided) envelope to the front

    3) How did you send the RFE response, regular mail, certified regular mail or priority mail?

------ I sent it Express Mail through the USPS (UPS cannot deliver to P.O Boxes)

    Hope that helps!

  4. I'm with you, Yasi. CSC received my RFE on 3/14 as well. Just hoping it's going to come soon. :star:

I really thought we get my husband's card or at least the welcome letter this past Saturday. But no... there was nothing in the mail. We responded to the RFE on 3/8, which the post office missent our packet and was delivered on 3/14 instead of 3/11. What's taking so long... We submitted very good evidence. I really hope his card comes soon.

Congrats to all who got approved and got their cards. Pray for all of us who are still waiting to get it soon.

  5. As xochitl18 says, I think some numbers just never work.

Anyway, I also got an RFE (December filer) and there has been no updated to my case online at all.

Hi everyone. Unfortunately we got a RFE yesterday 03/11/2011. We are not sure what else to send them since we already sent everything that we can think of. Anyway what I'm wondering is why I cannot check the status of the petition online. I keep getting * Customer Portfolio Insert Failed * Attempting to add a case that does not exist. Check the application receipt number. can someone help me please??? :(

  6. Sorry to hear that...:( Hmm... it looks like "CSC RFE Awareness Month" ( = many Nov CSC filers got RFE...) is going on...

    Updating karenlou's RFE...

Thank you. Yes, after reading the November thread, and seeing later filers get approved before me, I had a feeling I was going to get the RFE :(

Anyway, for those asking, I sent a life insurance policy, joint bank account, joint car insurance, military orders (air ticket) with both our names, health insurance policy, affadavits... can't remember if there was anything else, but admittedly it wasn't enough.

Also, I didn't receive any notification before the letter arrived -- even though I have signed up for texts and emails. My online case status has not changed since they received my application.

  7. Hi,

I am in a similar position.

I am a non-US citizen (British) and I joined the Navy in January. While I was at MEPS I was told that I absolutely had to have my 10 year card before I could leave for basic. I wanted to leave ASAP but the put my shipping date five months ahead to give me enough time to get the card. It's really interesting to me that the Army are letting your husband leave for basic without his 10-year card while the Navy tell me that's impossible...hmmm...

Anyway, there is a way to file if your spouse is deployed; so perhaps that is the best route for you? I don't think that it will be too big an issue. Good luck!
