  1. I just got mine 2 days a go it took 10 days since i got the email.

    AWESOME THANKS!!!

Well seeing the production just happened i believe you WILL get the new EAD and AP card (they're the same card). Bear in mind if you lose that card you will need to pay the fee for BOTH AP and EAD to get it again (around $700) so make sure you copy it (front and back) and keep it in a safe place.

    congrats!!

    GOOD TO KNOW, THANK YOU!

  2. So it feels like it's been FOREVER since I got an update.....last update on my uscis page was Jan.14th...and since then, I've received my biometrics letter and went and did it! On Friday, my EAD said it was sent for production!!!! YAY!!!!!!!!!!!

Does this include Advance parole to travel??

Anyone know how long before I receive it...online says 30 days but it seems their timing is often off....thanks for any advice!

  3. Why do they need for a DNA test? I'm asking because I'm petitioning my fiance and we have son too, so we would know what to do in the future just like your case. How old is your daughter? my son is only 15 months old.

My daughter was just over 3 when I had my K-1 interview and they never even asked about her.....I am from Canada and her dad is American.....this seems weird... does your child have dual citizenship??? I was sent a letter saying I had to either include her on my papers or take her to the consulate and do a birth abroad form for her and it cost $100...that's all they needed from us....GOOD LUCK!

  4. Hi. I received an email notification that my application (i-485) was sent to California Service Center. I'm in north dakota. What do you think is going on there?

Will they interview me or something. I already did my biometrics in south dakota. I'm worried because I think its back to zero again and I've been waiting since forever (okay...about 3 months).

Has anyone here passed this stage? What happened?

I also did my biometrics and now received a letter saying my file was transfered to Cali also.....some people say that it's because Cali is faster and deals more with the Adjustment of Status stuff....and some also said that it's good 'cause it might mean we don't need an interview afterall.....not sure but I am in the same boat as you! Good luck!

  5. OP is K-1. K-1 is allowed to get SSN within the 90 days after entry.

K-1 is allowed SSN for only one reason, to get married. Some states are strict in their interpretation of a federal law requiring those applying for a "license" to show SSN, this causes a problem with persons wanting to get a marriage license without an SSN.

I came in as a K-1 and was told I couldn't get a SSN......we got married anyhow...didn't need it to get married in NYS

  6. Hi everyone!

I am planning on moving from Ontario to Florida in the fall and was wondering about how to obtain a driver's license. I've read some of the past discussions on this topic but I couldn't find anything specific for Canadians moving to Florida. My fiance is in the military so if I am not able to drive, it will be quite a challenge for me while he's deployed.

Does anyone know if I can drive with my Canadian license even though I am no longer a resident of Canada? Also, is a Canadian license transferable to a Florida license or do I need to retake a road test?

    Thank you all very much!

I was in a similar situation....moved from Quebec to New York.....you can drive with your Canadian driver's license until you get you SSN. You need a US SSN in order to get a NYS driver's license....so until then, you can drive using your Canadian license :)

  7. Quite a few cases have been transferred to California lately. It's supposed to speed up processing and you're less likely to have an interview now.

It seems California is taking a little longer lately though.

But it's a good sign, hopefully you won't have to have an interview and they'll just send you your green card!

I haven't even heard from my EAD.....did Biometrics on Feb 7th....and this is the first change....hoping to get my green card soon....or at least the EAD.....no interview would be nice too haha

  8. well I have no idea lol... we followed the instructions 'cause we went through them very carefully....so where ever we had to send them, that's where it was sent....

online it says it was transfered from VSC to CSC which is why I say we sent to Vermont....but that happened today....I am sure if we had sent to the wrong place, we would've been notified in January when we initially sent it in....I am assuming....

Hopefully, it means I will get my stuff soon :) I can't wait to start working....I am a teacher and dying to get back in a classroom!

just verified with hubby......we did file in Chicago .......

  9. Husband has been in the states for 10 months now, but he has changed so much, he has now left becuase i saw and email to him stating trying to get his citizenship behind my back for some reason. I guess he went to live with another woman not sure where he went, but if I get a divorce does he go back to his country and do I have to take care of him because of the Affidavit of support I completed with my income. i feel so used what do I do what will happen to me financially do I have to take care of him if I divorce him or does he have to go back. i don't se how they thought he can get his citizenship when he has not been here long enough and he and I are married on my way for a divorce.

From what I've heard, you are responsible for him for 10 years after you get married...which also means that if he gets any kind of assistance (HUD, medicaid, welfare, food stamps, anything), they will come after you to pay for it since you are his support.......

    sorry about your situation :(

  10. Then don't be More than likely EAD and AP are being handled at the National Benifits center, in Missouri.

When you said sent to VSC it sounded like you sent everything to VSC. VSC does not handle anything with regards to adjustment of status.

More than likely your AOS was transferred from NBC to CSC, which is very common.

Note the service center I used was also VSC, however in our case they handled only our I-129F visa petition, and later our I-751 Removal of conditions application.

well I have no idea lol... we followed the instructions 'cause we went through them very carefully....so where ever we had to send them, that's where it was sent....

  11. Glad they did not reject everything. You need to follow the instructions in the I-485 directions. You mail AOS/EAD/AP package to the PO Box in Chicago.

I wonder what they will do with I-765 and I-131, they should forward to Missouri (The National Benefits Center)

I am pretty sure we sent to Chicago...we followed the instructions but vermont is our center....that is where we had to go for biometrics too.....

    forward to Missouri??? I'm confused.....

Don't freak out about not seeing things online, none of my case status numbers even worked online until my EAD and AP were actually approved (useful, huh?!) Neither of my I-130 or I-485 numbers show up online at all right now but I know they are working on it.. so you can breathe easy!

My NOA date was Dec 23rd and I got notice about my EAD on Feb 24 so pretty much 2 months... seems to be about standard from what I've read around here. Though bear in mind they have up to 3 months before you can start trying to grease the wheels!

yeah, I find they slack a bit in terms of updating their online file.....hopefully I get the EAD soon and there's no problems!

  12. Strange VSC normaly does not handle I-485.

Anyway a move to CSC in many cases results in an approval without an interview.

VSC is our center so we sent the EAD, early parole (forget the code) and the AOS all at the same time to them....

So it doesn't necessarily mean there's a problem then??

And how long before I hear from EAD....I had biometrics appointment on Feb.7th....just wondering...

  13. Was your bio appointment for your Employment Authorization (I-765)? If so, expect it soon! EA generally come within a month of getting your biometrics done.

Checking your case status online is usually the best way to see if your case has been updated. Howeber, some people's cases statuses have remained on 'Initial Review' even after they were approved and received their Green Card though

Alternatively you can call the National Customer Service Center at 1-800-375-5283 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-375-5283      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-375-5283      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-375-5283      end_of_the_skype_highlighting begin_of_the_skype_highlighting              1-800-375-5283      end_of_the_skype_highlighting, give them your receipt number and they can check your status.

'Touched' means that something changed when you checked your case status online. It generally means someone is processing your case. It's a good sign, it means that it's not just sitting there.

Yes, the biometrics was for EAD and early parole....

As of today, the file still says "January 14th" which was the date the receipts were sent to us...since then, we've received the biometrics appointment and have gone to it......today, my AOS was transfered from Vermont to California....any thoughts???

  14. Hi....

I applied for AOS, early parole and EAD on January 14th, 2011

Near the end of January, I received my biometrics appointment.

On feb 7th, I had my biometrics appointment.

Online, USCIS still hasn't updated me from the January 14th status (basically receipts were sent for all 3 applications)

Today, EAD and early parole are still not updated but AOS says my file was moved from Vermont Service Center to the California Service Center

Should I be worried?? or is it normal for paperwork to be transfered???

    HELP! TOTALLY FREAKING OUT :S

  15. Hi.....I filed the AOS and it was on record with USCIS as of Jan.14th....I received my biometrics appointment for Feb.7th. Now I am wondering how long we have to wait to hear something and what the next step is? When I check my case status on USCIS, it is still saying my papers were submitted Jan. 14th.......how do I check if there's been more recent checks? I see a lot of people write that their file is "TOUCHED" but no clue what that means and where to find it out....any help would be nice :) I am anxious to get my green card and start working! :)
