  1. I got a email from the embassy this morning

    Dear Applicant,

Kindly note that visa operations are still suspended. The embassy hopes to resume some visa operations by the end of March. Your appointment will be rescheduled, and you will be contacted directly. If you are not contacted by end of April, please send us your telephone number by email at ConsularcairoIV@state.gov.

Sorry to bother you but i was just wanting to know if there was any news about the embassy opening and starting to reschedule interviews yet?

Also i was wondering what is my husband going to need to bring with him to the interview?

    Thanks for your help

Funny thing I got the exact same email...lol!

  2. I called the NVC on Wed to get an update since its been one month since my info was mailed to them, they told me they received all my info and to call back next week Friday then everything should be complete. So today I receive an email from them stating they are missing my 2009 tax return and my most recent pay stub. I know for a fact everything was sent to them by my lawyer. So then I email my lawyer and get an auto replied message stating shes out of the office until the 11th of April! OMG!!! Really!!! Guess I have no choice but to remail everything AGAIN. I cant imagine I have to wait another month for this! I thought we made it through the worst of the waiting but this is turning into as long of a wait as the USCIS was.

  3. I was sent an email today that says: Kindly note that visa operations are still suspended. The embassy hopes to resume some visa operations by the end of March. Your appointment will be rescheduled, and you will be contacted directly. If you are not contacted by end of April, please send us your telephone number by email at ConsularcairoIV@state.gov. Sounds like things are gonna start happening in the next couple weeks.

  4. Me too I hope. I received another letter today from NVC saying that they will forward the petition within a week to Cairo and will be processed at

Post: CAIRO EMBASSY OF THE UNITED STATES, VISA UNIT 8 KAMEL EL-DIN STREET GARDEN CITY, CAIRO EGYPT your fiancee will soon received a packet with instructions from the consular section on how to apply for the K-1 via at the post and what documents will be required. In the meantime, you should visit the Department of State's www.travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/types/types_4323.html to determine if the processing post has any information of which you should be immediately aware. So maybe you are right maybe they are going to start opening visas for K-1 that would be wonderful for all of us applying in Egypt for our love ones.

That does sound promising...thank you for the info!

  5. So I just called the NVC out of my own curiosity and asked the same questions I asked the last time I called and she read to me the info from the Cairo Embassy webpage and then I asked her about what the last woman told me she put me on hold to verify this and came back to tell me she doesnt have this information only what she read to me from the Cairo Embassy webpage that they are currently closed...so its true they dont know anything and must be they make up what they want as they go. Im not calling them anymore I guess I will just wait for an email!

  6. Ohhhhhh I forgot to add....

The VERY BEST part of the whole return email... ........... We trust that this information will be helpful.......... SERIOUSLY??? Come on SERIOUSLY?????

This is how I felt all at once........:o:jest::rolleyes::angry::wacko::blink::bonk::help::crying::protest::ranting::no::girlwerewolf2xn::rofl::wow:

To be honest it felt like adding insult to injury and then in some crazy way it felt almost too comical... I know they don't know much so they just say what they are told to say, but my point is why does the NVC give us this ray of hope instead of keeping it real and telling us this from the jump start? Why give us this email addy and waste everyone's time?

Me and my husband are also at the NVC stage and I also called and spoke with a woman at the NVC, this is what I was told one week ago! She told me that the NVC is the one who will set up the interview for my husband and that they are rescheduling the interviews for the ones who had already had interviews set up from before and then after this they will start setting up interviews for the rest of us waiting. She told me to expect to wait 2-3 months to hear anything for an interview because of the back up from the cancelled interviews which needed to be rescheduled. She also told me they schedule all interviews for the following month on the 2nd week of each month. Example: the 2nd week of March they set up all interviews for April and the 2nd week of April they will set up all the interviews they will schedule for May..and so on. So from what I gather the embassy is still doing interviews for families who are married to US citizens or children of US citizens ONLY! This was what I was told...I hope its true!

  7. You know, i can't believe our embassy is doing this. I am speaking as a resident of egypt. I could understand if things were even a fraction of the way they are in libya or that there was something major happening. There must be something we can't see or something. Although, it stands to reason though that our govt just authorized 3 million dollars to be spent transporting those who fleed libya to tunisia, back to egypt. So is it really a security concern or is it pertaining to the lack of govt here?

Just my 2 cents but i am feeling everyone's pain. I especially have felt this is all a test of my faith and that i just need to keep praying as i am hoping for the seemingly impossible to happen and that is, they open, i get appt fast and my husband gets his visa in time for the birth of our son, due may 21 without a long tedious ap headache. Am i dreaming? Well its happened for others so we will see. Insha allah!!

Anything pertaining to the government is slow, they have no emotional attachments like we do. Congrats on the new baby coming soon. I hope you have a great group of family and friends surronding you during this time. Me personally I just keep myself completely occupied with work my family and friends so I dont have too much time to sit and think. But me and my husband weill continue to call them 2 times a week, maybe they will get tired of answering the same repetitive questions...LOL!

  8. Yeah it is awful hard to wait normally but now to wait just for them to open first and then wait for the interview is so frustrating. Our application is at the NVC right now waiting to go to Cairo. Me and my husband are thinking about having our application/case sent to Saudi Arabia, just waiting for our lawyer to get back with us next week. Im not trying to wait all summer just for them to open there doors again because I dont think they will anytime soon, just my opinon maybe I am wrong but im not waiting if I dont have to.

  9. Exactly...especially when we have all payed alot of money to the government and to get this kind of unprofessionalism from an American government office. Not only have we payed for our fees and other things but we also pay for these people to have a job there as well!!! They definetely have way to much free time on there hands. When I was in the embassy back in May these things werent going on. When the boss is away the kids will play!

  10. I find it very annoying when I call the US Embassy in Cairo and there are so many employees laughing and talking so loudly that I can barely hear and understand the employee whos answering my questions. Im calling to see if anyone has any information on when they will begin visa services again and as always I get the same answer, call again next week or in two weeks. Makes me a little cranky when I know my taxes are paying these people to do nothing but answer phones with the same response and they obviously have nothing to do besides having a good time. As I told my husband whos in Cairo, I dont think they will open again any sooner then they have to. They are getting paid to do nothing but answer phones, why would they?
