  1. It usually takes MTL couple of weeks to send P3 although you never know with them. Keep calling. Don't send anything until MTL has sent P3. You can register DHL after you send P3 and get approval to schedule your interview.

I don't think that renewing your passport would be a big problem. You will probably have a lot of time between now and your interview. And if I remember correctly it has to be valid for at least 6 months after they issue your visa...

  2. So, my husband received his Green Card in December. I thought EA and AP would just expire but they didn't. They completed them as well, we received the card on Saturday, (Didn't realize it would be the same card for both) the card had all of his information on it and a blonde lady's picture. :D I thought it was sooo funny, he didn't!!! :D

  3. Last night we received the case update text message, I figured it was for EAD or AP but when I checked the website it turns out its for the green card and our card is now in production. We were very happily surprised - this went smoothly!!:dance::dance:

  4. You have a bit of wiggle room here but not really. :)

I would suggest you apply for your SSN with your married name. In the application you put alien - not allowed to work, that's what I put for my husband.

As for the AOS it really does not matter whether you have a SSN so it's up to you. If you are going to wait to file AOS then get the SSN first, if not just send the AOS out and then get the SSN. Considering all of your documents will be in your married name in the future you would want your green card in that name as well. I would put the married name and marriage certificate will prove everything they need to know...

  5. YAY!! :D It means our case was transferred to CSC (California Service Center) for processing. From what I have read here on VJ, it normally means that we won't have to go in for an interview .. so hopefully we will get the approval/greencard a lot faster!

    YAAAY!!! Good news. Thank you!!!

    :dance::dance::dance:

  6. I just got a text/email message that says "we transferred your I-485 case to another office for processing and sent you a notice explaining this action"

What the heck does that mean?!?

I got this last night as well. First thing that came to mind was RFE of course.

What does it mean? From your post I am guessing it's good news but I don't know why?

  7. I think this is as up to date as what we have in the thread, so if anyone can let me know if I'm missing any info? :)

We have not yet filed, even though the finished package is sitting on my desk. Just needs passport pics and, yknow, the cheque... ;) I'm hoping this week.

Our bio appt is on the 28th of Oct. Yay :)

    Love this chart Ralyse

  8. I've been working AOS forms but it's been hard to motivate myself. Glad to see some of you have already sent it off! :D Can y'all walk me through the medical stuff for AOS? I've talked to a few ladies but I'm still confused and the ladies in question are from other countries so I'm not sure if they have the same form as me. What do I need transcribed/do I need something transcribed/halp?

I belive the instructions said that if you are on K-1 and have had your medical within the last year all they want is a copy of your vaccination sheet. That's what we did. What worries me though is that a lot of people said their medical never made it to USICS and they had to do everything all over again. I hope it works better for Canadians. :)

  9. I thought the same thing! I checked it over a milion times to make sure I wasn't forgetting something obvious. Maybe it's just because we already made it through the K-1 process and are "seasoned" filers now? :P

Yes, I think so. :D K-1 seemed so much more complicated....I guess we'll find out in 2 months or so. Good luck to you :)

  10. We are trying to aim for this week, sending out the AOS paperwork too. Just making sure all is correct and no RFE this time around!!

Good Luck and speedy Greeen Card for you...and to everyone :)

Thank you, good luck to you also.

Somehow this seems much easier as there is no running around required and we already have all the docs just need copies.

  11. Our wedding was on Saturday and it was beautiful. All the stress was worth it.

Now back to immigration fun. I was just reading the instructions for I-485 and it states that a copy of a marriage certificate needs sent. Is this correct? Copy is enough? If not, do I send them our original?

  12. Thank you so much, this is so helpful.

I am waiting for my Pkt 3 to come in the mail but I thought I'd send everything out anyway since the DOS says that Montreal has received our case...

My question is - how am I supposed to have the first item on the checklist, the appointment letter showing date and time of interview? I have everything else on the checklist ready to go.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks in advance.

First make sure that you don't send any documents listed on the checklist with P3. You take those to the interview.

After your P3 has been logged in and you are able to book your interview, you will be able to print an appointment letter online. Good luck!

  13. Congrats on your POE, pocheros! And yeah, it looks like a bunch of us will end up with the same anniversary :) I'm wishing we weren't bothering with a wedding, but that's probably the stress talking. I can't imagine organizing and planning a big one! (My fiance's sister is getting married in June, 300 person guest list. I just... I can't even imagine trying to figure that out. We have 50 and I'm stressed.)

We have only been planning for about a week since we were moving into our apartment the first week he was here. It has not been fun and I wish we weren't doing anything. Can't wait for Sunday :D

  14. He is finally home with me! :)

We crossed yesterday at the Ambassador bridge in Detroit. It was kind of busy so we had to wait for about an hour but otherwise everything went smoothly. The only thing he was asked is if he was considering that to be his official move and when we were getting married. So glad this is over even though it feels like the stress is just beginning.

  15. Ours will be on the 17th as well (God willing). :)

After looking at couple of different places we have decided to have the reception at a local fire hall. We will invite about 80 people but I think only about 60 will attend as it is short notice and not everyone from Canada will be able to make it.

We will most likely get married in a park early afternoon with closest friends and family and then have the reception at night with everyone else. As for the little details I really don't have much in place as of right now, so having to plan this whole thing in under a month will be very interesting and "fun" :)
