  1. To summarize my questions:

    1. It hasn't been a month yet but we have not received a letter for her scheduled times for the Oath Ceremony. Should we be concerned or should I have her still go to the Oath Ceremony?
    2. Another question I have is that he stated that she will need to file separate paperwork on her children since they are still green card holders. They are aged 7 and 5 years old. Can anyone explain the process on how to change the kids status to naturalization?
    3. What does the oath ceremony case status say when you have a scheduled Oath Ceremony?

Thank you to everyone that can help and ease my mind on this process for my wife.

  2. Sorry..I forgot to mention that this is out of the Johnston, RI office location.

And the interviewer specifically stated that she is to come to the Pawtuckett Stadium where she will be naturialized.

Another question I have is that he stated that she will need to file separate paperwork on her children since they are still green card holders. They are aged 7 and 5 years old. Can anyone explain the process on how to change the kids status to naturalization?

    Thank you!!

  3. All,

Please update the table with the following:

    • Filed on 2/18/2014
    • Received notification of acceptance on 2/27/2014
    • Biometrics was on 4/3/2014
    • Interview on 5/14/2014 (passed and she was told that she will take the Oath on July 3rd in Pawtuckett, RI)

Still waiting for letter with times of the Oath.

    Question:

It hasn't been a month yet but we have not received a letter for her scheduled times for the Oath Ceremony. Should we be concerned or should I have her still go to the Oath Ceremony?

    Please help us! Thanks!

  4. That is true for the I-751 application (removal of conditions) but I'm quite sure it's different for N-400 -- and I don't trust anything their phone reps say. Call them a third time and they might give you a different answer... (I don't suggest you call them though)

Okay, I called them a third time and was told that the children do NOT need a bio-metric fee or photos. They will automatically become citizens.

I also confirmed this with a supervisor. Unbelievable. They will send my packet back and I will have to send in the correct amount ($680 instead of $850).

    Thanks for the help

  5. Thanks for the response, Shub.

    Let me clarify:

I am the US Citizen and my wife is applying for naturalization along with the two step children. They are aged 7 and 5. They are listed on her N-400.

As I understand it, the children are your wife's. Are they under the age of 18? If so, your wife only needed to list them in her N-400, no need for pictures or biometrics fee. They will become citizens when their mother does, provided they are still under the age of 18 when she takes the oath of citizenship.

That's not entirely true. I verified this with USCIS last year when I removed their Conditional status and I just verified it with another representative a few minutes ago for the N-400: The application fee along with three bio-metrics fees and photos are required to successfully process the N-400 otherwise it will be declined.

I looked at the January N-400 filings and I see that a few people had to wait 2 - 3 weeks for action so I will be a little more patient.

  6. I don't know if I should be concerned.

Tomorrow will be 7 days since they received my packet and I have not heard anything.

    - My money order has not been cashed yet.

    - I called USCIS and they said it can take upwards of 30 days to process a receipt number and NOA.

But I see that most folks have received their NOA's and such. Here are my details:

    - I sent this all to the Dallas, TX location and it was signed for by a T. CLARKE on 2/19 at 11:15 AM CST

    - The agent said that the packet is sent offsite for processing and they could still be processing it.

I included in my packet (I am the petitioner):

    - BC of our child together.

    - Marriage Cert.

    - Lease agreement.

    - Divorce decree's for the two of us

    - N-400 Application.

    - My BC and US Passport showing that I am a natural born US citizen.

    - Joint tax returns for 2011, 2012, 2013

    - Copies of their GC's (Wife and two step children)

    - Two photos each with their Alien numbers and names written in ink on the back of them (the instructions say pencil or ink...however, I could not use the pencils on the back of the photos! It wouldn't write).

    - $850 Money Order - $595 application fee plus $255 biometric fees for everyone ($85 x 3)

Any thoughts on what is happening? Please help.

  7. Update..just checked my status, seems a bit strange...the title now states : "

Your Current Case Status for Form CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

    "Your Case Status" states nothing

but the details states: On July 18, 2013, we mailed the new card directly to the address we have on file. You should receive your new card within 30 days. If you do not, or if you move before you get it, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

So I'm hoping I'm good to go. We will see in a week I guess.

Mine says the same thing so I wouldn't worry too much about it. The cards will be here in the next few days.

  8. Hello, all!

I am a Natural Born US Citizen and my wife is from New Zealand (her name is Amiria), applying for citizenship. We have been married for a little over two years now and have recently applied for the removal of conditions on her i-751. We do have a two year old child together and another one on the way (due October 19th).

    I have a few questions:

    - We are both legally separated but living in the same household

    - We are still madly and deeply in love and are intimate.

    - She pursued this last summer when she found out that I wasn't truthful about my ex-wife (My ex-wife is serving two consecutive 10 year sentences and will be eligible for parole in 2018). She knew about the ex-wife but not the circumstances of the divorce or what had happened. And the reason why is because I didn't want anyone to know what a scumbag she is.

Because of this, she decided to file for legal separation based on trust issues until we work things out. It was filed in Vermont and we are now living in Rhode Island. The ex-wife is in the Oregon State Penitentiary.

Amiria and I are still madly in love and I am really pushing her to remove this legal separation.

We filed for separation in October of 2012 and filed the documentation in February 2013. On the documentation, we said we were married and the same was done with our 2012 joint return (which was submitted as proof)

    My questions are:

    - Will this affect our I-751 to remove the conditions?

    - Will USCIS search the court records and see this?

    - What can I do in this case?

Please help! I am losing sleep and have been stressed out of my mind! Thanks

  9. Hello!

My wife wife received her I-551 a week ago and we're heading back to the States (thank GOD) in a few days.

When we arrive at the port of entry, her temporary I-551 conditional green card will be activated and then she will receive her Green Card and SSN in a few weeks after that.

    My question:

It states on the temporary card the following:

"Upon endorsement serves as temporary 1-551 evidencing permanent residence for 1 year"

What exactly does that mean? Must she file the I-751 before the 1 year is up? I thought that the conditional green card is good for 2 years.

Any help in clarifying this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  10. Hello!

My wife is South African and I'm a US Citizen. I hail from Portland, OR.

Anyhow, we got married in Cyprus on May 14th, 2010 and currently live in the United Arab Emirates.

After having to work and wait 6 months here before I can even start the process, I have filed the I-130 petition for her and she had her first interview on January 13th. Her second and final interview is scheduled for April 11th, which to me is too far out. I just want to get the hell out of the Middle East and head back home.

My question is thus: Can I finish this whole process in the States rather than finishing it here? How do I go about doing that?

I'm just homesick and I hate it here. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
