I am going on what other more experienced VJ members have said in similar threads, and what it says on my country's US Embassy website
There have been numerous other threads about this stating that US police clearance is not required...at least not for K1 or CR-1/IR-1 visas..... roseannevh - what visa are you applying for??

Hi KL! Thanks! I am applying for K1. So I think I'm off the hook. That would be great! Thanks for all this info!

Thank you penguin_ie! He makes roughly 17.000. So it would be best to add a co-sponsor probably?

Hi guys! I need help with the financial support forms. I was wondering if the I-134 was optional or necessary? And would it be ok for my future dad-in-law to fill it out? And what other forms could we attach? My fiance just got a new job that would be ok to support us. But the last years he had a very low income job, so his tax returns from the last couple years aren't looking pretty. What to do about that? And is there a minimum he needs to earn to support me? I have no idea about figures!

I was just about to apply for a U.S. clearance myself: http://ag.ca.gov/fingerprints/visaimmigration.php. Thru this website. Are you sure it's not necessary because in the paperwork I just received from the Consulate it says police clearances from ANY country you lived for over 12 months. (So 10 months is fine.. you don't need it anyhow!) I lived in the U.S. for 19 months myself. So I thought I would need it. It does not say except the U.S.
Are you guys really sure? I might just get it anyway, like you said better to be safe then sorry!

Thank you all! This was very helpful!

Hi guys! I am looking into the vaccinations right now. And seriously.. we need that many? Are they all necessary? I am already too late for hepatitis B. Because I gotta have shot and then come back 2 months later for another one and come back again after 6 months. But I already have the interview scheduled in the end of September and I plan to go to the States in November. So there is no way I'll make that. How big of a problem will this be?
I am Dutch. So especially people with experience from the Amsterdam Consulate please help me! And in general anyone who knows something about these vaccinations that would be so helpful!
Goodluck all on the Journey!

Can I visit my fiance in the US while we're applying? And if yes, do I need special forms with me?

We sent out the I-129F 13 days ago now and I am getting a little worried? We haven't heard anything back yet. I checked other people's time frames and they all appear to be getting the NOA1 and then notification email within a week??? SHOULD I BE WORRIED?
Perhaps we mailed to the wrong address?? We sent it to Texas Center. Which is the correct address? Just for my peace of mind

Hey everybody!
My fiance in the States doesn't have a Place Of Birth on his birth certificate. He was adopted under odd circumstances and it was unclear at the time where he was born. He is trying to get new birth certificate stating his POB but it might take a while for him to get it and I really wanna go 'home' to the US as soon as possible. Do you think we can just attach his birth certificate without POB to our I-129F and give it a shot or better wait til we got the documents in order?
Thanks much!

Do not staple. I just organised mine in order and put tabs to differentiate the types of documents. I did not use any metal of any sort.
Did you put them in some type of folder? Can I make 2 holes on the left side of the documents to put them in a folder?
-
DO NOT staple. Use paper clips and binder clips. I used a USPS Priority Tyvek envelope. Send it to Texas per the instructions.
Use the Immigration Timelines button at the top of the page for examples of timing.
Thank you very much!!!!

Hi all, my fiance and I have filled out all the forms and gathered the evidence needed for the petition. But how should we send it in? Can we staple the papers together or should we put it in a folder? Or put all the papers loose in an envelope? I am just very paranoid they will deny us and am thinking of every detail
And also what is the typical time from filing the petition to the issuance of the k-1 visa?
Goodluck to all,
Rose

I am in the United States on a J-1 exchange visitor visa right now and I will go home in 2 weeks (I did not overstay my visa). During my stay here I got engaged. What is the best way to come back here and marry my fiance? Apply for a fiance visa when I go back home or get married first and then apply for the green card? Which process is easier and/or faster?
Nerves!!!!!! Interview is coming up!

Hey there! I got my interview date today (its October 11th so no rush) but I'm starting to get reallllly nervous about some things. Mainly the financial support forms. My fiance makes about $17,000. The poverty guideline for 2 people is $14,000 and the 125% poverty line is $18.000. So just to make sure I'm having a co-sponsor. But my co-sponsor is a family friend who feels uncomfortable adding paystubs/tax returns/letter of employment. So I'm a little worried. This will probably not be enough right?
The only other sponsor is a retired LAPD policeman who gets his retirement pay (which is a lot, like $70.000) but still does that count? I wont be able to get an employment letter but I can get his tax return. Will this be ok?
Should I just add all 3 sponsors? That seems best. My consulate is Amsterdam. I heard they are not too tough. Anybody experiences with them?
Help me out guys!! PLEASE!!
