Passport Application update!
So, I applied for my US after my passport yesterday afternoon after my oath (in the morning). I scheduled for a 2pm appointment at the Dallas Passport Agency located downtown Dallas, at Earle Cabell Federal Building. I got there at about 2.05pm give or take, checked-in at the appointment window then I was given a number and asked to sit down until it is called. I had my application filled out online then just printed it out. By the way, I took my passport photos at CVS (instant photos took me like 5 minutes) where I was charged like $8 coz for signing up for a CVS discount card! I was like sweet! The cost is normally $10
I had my letter from my employer stating that I needed my passport ASAP for work and also a copy of my international travel dates for this weekend for work as well. I had my original CoN and driver’s license and copies of each. I was called to another window where the lady went through my paperwork and asked me when I would be traveling and I said this weekend and that took her by surprise! Hehe… Anyways, she told me to come pick it up tomorrow (which is today) and so I did!
To sum it all, I got my passport in less than 24hrs and I didn’t have to part with my CoN
so that was good. It all cost me a total of $195 ($135+$60 expedite fee) So now I am officially done with USCIS/passport journey as far as I am concerned!
Wow! Everything got wrapped up so quickly for you! That's amazing! I'm sad they also took my name change document so I can't really get too many other things done until I get those back.
Passed the interview at Federal plaza in NYC. It was hilarious, because after reading about all the people having problems with speeding tickets, I brought all the receipts, my driving abstract, everything you could possibly bring to the interview. When I mentioned it to the interviewer and stared pulling all those documents from my bag, the (very nice) interviewer said "Dont fix what ain't broken. I'll ask you if I need anything.", and approved me without even looking at those. Awesome!
Hilarious! I had a similar experience with my tax documents. Congrats!

Wow! That's a long time, DAndy. Congratuations to you.
:dance: It seems so funny to me that we all are getting these bits of paper to show we're USCs and then we immediately turn around and send them away from us 
. But I guess that is the nature of being a naturalized citizen is that we are much more likely to need/want to travel than the average USC.Thank you! So true!

Officially a USC! I was sworn in with 133 people representing 42 countries. It was a quick ceremony and our friends and families were allowed in the courtroom with us. Very proud to be an American after having been in the US for 22/25 years of my life. Momentous.

Hi everyone,
I just got another oath appointment letter in the mail (a duplicate of the one I received the day of the interview) and I took a closer look this time. It asks me to bring the letter, my GC, any immigration documents you may have (not sure which ones would be relevant?), AND a reentry permit or refugee travel document. I have no idea why that last particular box is marked, as my application had nothing to do with asylee status. Could this be referring to my most recent stamp in my passport from the last time I reentered the US? I'm worried they made a mistake, and my oath is this Tuesday!
Have any other recent oath takers had this box checked? What was your experience like? Thanks!
I did a search and it appears that that box is marked fairly indiscriminately for everyone. I think I'm done having my momentary panic attack

it's a separate and new petition, and one for each parent and they'd each have to pay the $1000 fine again to be covered under the 245i law. that means they would have to pay thousands of dollars again. these are independent petitions from the F4 they don't speed anything because the siblings petition depends on the priority date being available.
Yeah, that's what I figured. I'm not sure it's financially feasible to pursue this route, although I would hate to see their wait get delayed any more. I imagine that there are a lot of applicants who are in their position as they were in a rush to meet the April 30th filing deadline to be covered under 245i.

Hi everyone. I'm curious if it may be beneficial to submit a new I-130 application on behalf of my parents. They had their F4 interview last year (sponsored by my dad's USC sister since 2001) and I'm not 100% sure if a decision was ever made; the priority dates retrogressed about two years the same month of their interview. At the current rate, their priority date should come up again in about 5-6 months, but this of course is not guaranteed.
If my I-130 petition for them got approved, would they also need to send in a new I-485? Or could this possibly speed things up for them by lifting the visa number availability restriction? It's probably wishful thinking, right? :-/
My grandfather is not doing his best health-wise in Poland and my parents are anxious to visit.

Thanks. It is nice to be done, but also very weird too! I didn't think I'd really feel too different or anything, but I do. It was a very touching ceremony and I think some of it must also be the relief of being done finally and knowing that no matter what happens, I will be able to be with my family and not have to worry about renewing or adjusting statuses any more. Feels strange to know that my GC is no longer in my wallet
.Yes! It's funny to think I will have had the unconditional GC for less than a year. I know I will be struggling not to get too teary at the oath. I used to truly believe that this day would never come.

I have just received an e-mail update saying they sent me the appointment for fingerprinting... 3 months after I filed! When I filed the I-751 it took them less than a month to send me the bio letter.
Not happy.. this process is taking longer than I expected.
I'm sorry to hear that. The same thing happened to me during ROC. I heard nothing - then 3 months in I received a bio request. On the bright side, this may mean that things will finally pick up pace once that is done.

Approved! Got there 20 minutes early and proceeded to to wait for about 90 minutes for my interview. Despite getting a yellow letter with requests for tax transcripts, my IO laughed and said she didn't need to see anything else. Was shocked to see my 4 inch file even had all the original mailing envelopes. My IO laughed again, then suddenly turned serious and said... "We keep everything..." She was great
We went over my app, she printed name change documents, and then we dived into the tests. I was asked to read "Who elects Congress?" I was asked to write "The people elect Congress." I was asked, "Who wrote the Declaration, who is the commander in chief, name a state that borders Mexico, what is the party of the President, what are the two main parties in the US, and name 3 original colonies."
I passed and signed my pictures with my new signature. She even let me practice on a post-it. One of my pics got smudged on in the mail, so phew for duplicates.
Still waiting for the oath letter in the lobby! So relieved it's over and that my IO really made it a pleasant experience.

So as I was clicking post on the previous entry, I got called in for my interview and I just finished!!! APPROVED!! The IO was very friendly and nice. She asked me to name a war fought in the 1900's, how many voting members of the house, how many years we elect representatives for, who the supreme justice is, when do we vote for the president, and who the father of our country was. Then she went through the application and I decided to do a minor change in my name. Painless! I was out at 11am which was my original scheduled interview time. I'm now waiting for my oath ceremony letter which she told me would be April 19th. Thanks to all of you who have been on this journey with me, helping me along the way. I will post when I officially get my oath ceremony letter.
Congrats, pandawars! Thanks for the live updates! So they have no problem with cell phones in the waiting areas? I seem to remember that being forbidden back at the initial I-130 interview.

Finally the Interview letter arrived today.... Phewwwwwwww
Scheduled for interview on April 17 2012.
Now time to study and schedule PTO because the letter states that it will take 2 hours... Wish I didn't have to loose half vacation day... Well it's okay I guess...

Hi everyone,
I know this topic has been discussed often and elsewhere and that parking tickets are not a big deal, but I was hoping for more specific feedback from those who may have been in my particular situation. I marked 'No' for all the questions in Part 10D, including #16, and now I'm worried that I should have marked 'Yes.' I'm wondering if I should explain to the IO at my interview that I may have misunderstood the question and provide records of the parking fines I have paid. I don't think they are remotely interesting in parking tickets, but I don't want to be accused of lying on my application if I in fact misunderstood the question.
Has anyone changed an answer to any of the questions in part 10D at the interview? What was your experience like?
Question 16 in Part 10 D in the N-400 asks:
16. Have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by any law enforcement officer?
I marked no for all of the questions in this section, including #16, because I didn't think non-moving / non-traffic fines fell into the citation category. I interpreted this as meaning that a police officer would have to actually pull you over and hand you a ticket.
I received a parking fine on street cleaning day (which is not handed out by a law enforcement officer), an expired parking meter ticket (our city's meters are privatized, so I don't believe officers hand those out), and a ticket for an expired license plate sticker (which I appealed on the basis that it wasn't mailed to me on time, won, and the fine was dismissed). The street cleaning ticket shows up when I do a search online and is indicated 'Paid.' The expired sticker shows up as 'Dismissed," and I have records of its dismissal. I don't see any record of the expired meter ticket, and I don't have any other physical receipts or records of this ticket or the street cleaning one. I plan on bringing a certified driving abstract, a printout of my parking ticket record from my city's website, and a copy of the letter dismissing the expired sticker ticket.
I'm nearly positive this is all overkill but I'd rather be prepared if my IO wants documentation for those fines even though I know that it says this is not required for fines under $500. None of these fines were over $50, but the fine amount is listed as $0 online for some reason - I'm assuming because it was either paid for or dismissed.
I just want some peace of mind. Thank you all!

I got the same thing, pretty much. My letter said to bring in originals of everything I sent as a copy.
If some of the evidence you sent in was directly sourced from a website, does that count as an original? I guess I just don't feel like I have "originals" of many of the things I mailed in. Some of the information was rather hard to dig up on these websites, and doesn't look very official, but is the only way I've seen these things indicated (e.g. beneficiary statements).
To those who receive email updates, did you set up an account at the uscis website? Thanks.
I have it set up to update with both text and email through the USCIS website, but I also submitted form G-1145 for E-notification. I think that form might only apply for the initial acceptance notification, but I'm not certain.

I mailed my N-400 application ~60 days before in January but also got a text message on my 3-yr anniversary saying I was in line for interview scheduling... curious pattern!

Just got a text message! I'm officially in line for interview scheduling with no biometrics re-do! Woo! Today is my eligibility date so hopefully things keep moving along
