got my passports so what is in the mystery package anyway?

Norah or anyone else do you have interview details? Mine is coming up in Montreal Aug 24. Would love to hear your experiences.
How picky are they about proof of income for the AOS? Is the tax transcripts enough or do they want current pay records as well?
sorry, I am no help as we went with assets. That I can tell you about
-
just be aware that the asset thing is not guaranteed to work. We have well over twice the assets they 'say' you need, but they didn't accept them. Still required a co-sponsor. Just be prepared, probably just easiest to get someone to sponsor before you go. But again, it may just really depend on the person you speak to and what their mood is that day.
-
I didn't read through all of the responses, looked like most were helping with how and what to apply for. But I wanted to answer your question about the sponsor/assets. You will most likely need a sponsor. We applied using our joint assets and even though they were more than double the amount that we needed, they still required us to get a sponsor. So, the USC will need to find someone that will help him out, other wise, most likely you will be rejected and they do not refund any money.

It depends but around 5-10 days. Another VJer had her interview on the 12th and she was notified yesterday that her passport was on the way.
thanks! I forgot to ask and I wasn't sure how you were notified. So far no email, so I guess we are still waiting.... thanks again. N
btw, we had an interview on the 13th so hopefully soon.

Just wondering how long it takes to get the passports back with the visas in it, I forgot to ask. Thanks

Hi All,
After half a year of delays (our own inactivity really) we are finally getting ready to submit the petition this week and i'm already anxious!
Anywho, just wondering what the timeline looks like from mailing the I-130 to the consulate to going to the consulate for an interview with your documents? Also, is this when you receive the NOA1? What happens after the NOA1 do you wait for packet 3? It seems like things have really picked up and from when you send your p3 back you can book your interview as soon as it's logged? Is that correct? What does that look like? Are the dates a couple of months out from the P3 receipt? Sorry, I know a whole LOT of questions at one time, it's just that there's so much to prepare for, sale of house, hubby (theUSC) going to the US to get a job and establish domicile, it's so hard to know when to do everything...anyway, i digress. Any and all answers are greatly appreciated.
Kim
From our experience it will take at least 8weeks to get back your packet 3, think it was closer to 12weeks for us. Then once we sent in our ds230 it only took a couple weeks to get our pkt4 stuff. then 5 mo. until the interview date, but it might be faster for you depending on the available appt. dates. GL

I booked mine for July 12. I wonder why only 1 day shows for Norah, but when I logged on later that night to actually book mine, those 9 days were still showing as available??? So odd! Never can figure any of this timeline stuff out.
I was thinking about it after, it is probably is because of the number of people in our family getting visas. So for just one interview it might show more

A ton of slots just opened in April for interviews!
there only seems to be one on the 20th of april but thanks for the heads up!

He does them there, Medisys does too - but don't get them there!!! I had one shot I had to be brought up to date on, and from what I read on their web site it was going to cost over $200. Go to your local health nurse or doctor and get the updated shots prior.
http://www.panelphysicians.com/index.htm Call and ask if they do shots (I thought they did?)
FYI not all medical doctors will give you vaccines and trust me, they will charge too, unless it is covered by your provincial health plan. Example: my younger children we covered for the meningitis shot but my older children weren't. Health unit won't give the shot because they aren't covered. The travelers clinic charge $170 for that shot. I got a prescription for it from my doctor and then AFTER they gave the shot they told me I had to pay $35 for giving it and $25 for a piece of paper that said they gave it. Plus I paid for the actual vaccine. So just because they charge a lot for it doesn't mean that it will cost less before. Still better to have them all done but just saying....
We were thinking of going to Vancouver before for the kids to get their medicals. Anyone have any comments on them?
-
I didn't book it so I didn't see what was available. They are now booking mid July. There were some appointments on the 12th but I am sure they are gone now. We are the 13th. They aren't booking Aug. yet. Most days have appointment some are taken. Good Luck.

Glad things are going well for you Housewife! Guess you need to change your user name now
Up date on me. I finally got an interview date! YA! Well actually two time slots. FINALLY someone went and found out for me that you can only have 4 people in one time slot so we needed to book two. So frustrating, if that is the rule then they need to tell people! Or make it so the website only allows you to enter in four names. Glad I kept calling. I got an email the next day saying, we see you were able to book. Well at least they will email you once you figure out their mess!

Hi everyone!
Just wondering if anyone can shed some light on Electronic Processing (EP) and using the new online DS-260 form in regards to us DCF/Embassy filers? Just read about the DS-260 in another thread and it seems like a new thing implemented this year in order to help speed up the line to schedule interviews! The phase I'm at with our DCF CR-1 process is that I've gotten the packet 3 (no mention of DS-260 in there), and I was planning to mail back the DS-230 and checklist today-- when are you able to 'opt-in' for Electronic Processing? Is that even applicable to DCF'ers? Any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
can't help with how the electronic one works, but it only took me 10 days from the day I sent my ds-230 until they drafted their letter. Came a few days after that in the mail. I was under the impression that EP could be done by anyone that applied for the I-130 after Octoberish 2010, we applied before then, so I didn't even try. GL and hope someone can answer your question
-
only if you were arrested, which doesn't usually happen with a speeding ticket.

Thanks Norah! I'm sorry about the problems you are having. I'm shocked that there is nothing they can do on their end when you end. How many people are you sponsoring? I would keep calling and ask if there is anyone there that can help. The people who answer the phone may not be able to do anything, but perhaps someone else?
- Sam
Thanks Sam! I finally got a response, so at least I now know that someone is actually looking into it. this is their response "Thank you for your patience while we continue to investigate your concern. It is taking longer than anticipated and we expect to complete the investigation soon." So I hope that they can fix the problem soon so we can make an appointment. Guess I just need to stop stressing about it now that I know they are aware there is actually in issue.
I am sponsoring my husband and 4 kids. To register my kids as USC born abroad I had to have lived in the US for 5 years, I have lived most of my life in Canada but about 4.5 yrs in the US, just shy of the needed time. Plus I would have had to prove that time, which might have been tricky.

Hey guys,
Don't know if anyone really pays attention to this thread anymore, but my husband had his interview on Friday and he was approved! Hooray! I want to thank everyone who helped us out along our journey (although most people are no longer here ). It still doesn't quite feel like it's over yet until my husband gets his passport back. Anyways, we're planning on moving in just over a month so we got a busy month ahead.
- Sam
I didn't help but wanted to say congratulations! We still can't get an interview. My sister got her packet 4 and booked the same day. We did an experiment and took one kid off and we can see appointments then. Very frustrating as you can't actually get anyone to help you with this. Feeling like we have been through all of this and will never be able to get an actual appointment. BTW I check about 5 times a day at this point.
-
Hey Norah,
I actually had something similar happen to me, but I don't know if it was for the same reason. I noticed they only allow people to schedule interviews a few months out. I remember back in September or October when we tried to schedule our interview, they only allowed you to schedule up to Christmas and by that point, all the times were taken. We visited the site two weeks later, and they had updated it so you could schedule into March and April of this year.
Again, don't know if it's the same reason, but I would check back in a couple of weeks.
Take care,
- Sam
no I think it is different. I have checked weekly to start and now everyday for 5 mo and there has not once said there were any appointments. The guy on the phone said it was because of the size of our group. I keep checking and have a couple emails in to see if anyone will reply but their auto reply says they don't respond to questions about scheduling, so we will see. Thanks tho
-
so we got our packet 4 info and can schedule, but we have 5 to be interviewed and it won't let us schedule. I called the # that schedules but they can't do anything either. So we can't actually schedule because it tells us there are no available appointments. We have been registered on the site for 5 months and not once has there been an appointment available. Has anyone else had this issue? Not sure how we can get an appointment and with the lack of help that you get, not sure how we will ever schedule one. Can anyone help?
-
yes, we only sent the check list saying what we had. I would think that you could sent them in by mail, which you will pay for, dhl is their bill. But I don't see why you couldn't just send them. But you will have to get your passports back from them through the dhl location you select. Or anything else that they might need to send.
-
you could get temporary travel coverage. think blue cross does us to 9mo.
-
On Feb 1 I sent a package to the 1155 Rue Alexandre address. it was delivered the next day.
-
I sent ds-230 (both parts) the check list and 2 passport type photographs for each person.
oh and also a photocopy of their passport page w/their info on it.
