  1. I'm not sure if this gives you any more hope or not, but I have a friend that recently was able to change his fiancee's interview date by calling and giving his reasons. They had already purchased plane tickets and had the whole wedding planned before they received their interview date. When the packet came the date was about 3 weeks after the date they bought the tickets for. He had been working with someone from his local senator's office and they were able to have some influence I gather. They changed the interview date from July 21 to June 23. She made it to America on July 1st and they are going to be married soon :)

  2. So Russia uses a passport for things within the country and then they also have a normal international travel passport. My fiancee turns 20 in August and at that time she will have to change her Russian passport. This is a law in Russia.

We realized that this could be a potential problem just recently. I want to submit the petition as soon as possible and looking at other's average wait times for receiving the K1 visa (5-7 months) that puts us right at the time that she will be required to update her Russian passport.

So my question is... If she comes in July or August and we are married... will she be able to travel back home to change her passport and then come back? or will it be better to just wait until September for her to come after she updates her Russian passport?

  3. So I lived in St. Petersburg, Russia for 2 years. I had loose contact with one girl there and then when I came back home to California we started to talk more and more. I eventually went back to visit her in December and I proposed while I was there. We have finally (as far as I can tell...) gathered all of the needed documents to start the petition for her K-1 visa to come to the States! I have the packet here in my hand now. I am just nervous that I am forgetting or don't know about something. I would really like to avoid any problems, so that's why I'm turning to you!

As of right now I have: I-134, G-325A (one copy for each of us), letters of intent to marry (one from each), I-129F, passport-style photos (from each), and a copy of my birth certificate.

Do I need to include copies of plane tickets or letters or anything to prove that we have met? I don't know how much is too much to send.

Any help would be VERY appreciated!

    -Scott
