  1. Good Evening All,

I will be eligible to file for citizenship later this month. I originally became a US resident through marriage. Do people usually hire an immigration attorney to file for citizenship? and how much do attorney fees usually run for this process? and by hiring an attorney, do I speed up the process? Please share your experience.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Steven

  2. Hi All,

I am currently a permanent resident. I would like to bring my parent to the US. I will be eligible to become US Citizen this June. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could provide answers to the following questions:

    1. After I become a citizen, how long does it usually take for my parents to become permanent residents?

    2. I also have a brother, who just turned 18 and unmarried. Would I be able to apply for him as well when I apply for my parents?

    3. If no, would my parents be able to apply for him once they become permanent residents? and how long would this process take?

    Thank you!

  3. They are processing January applications.....There have been a couple of approvals for Feb filers from CSC.....So I would say you still have a few months to go.

You can go in and out of the country with the extension letter, expired green card and your passport other people prefer to get a stamp in their passports.......I guess it's up to you

    Good luck!!!

    Thanks for your reply

Where can I get the stamp? I am not worry about getting into the US. I am worry about going out of the foreign country, since they always check your visa or green card before you leave.

  4. Hi,

I am currently a green card holder in conditional status (through marriage). The original expiration date on my green card was 6/22/13. I filed petition to remove my conditional status at beginning of April 2013. Few weeks later I received an document that extends my conditional status for an additional year and an appointment to do my biometrics. I went to do my biometrics on May 2013 and since then, I have not received or heard anything from the USCIS. My questions are:

    1. When can I expect to hear back from them regarding their decision?

    2. Can I use the document I received (conditional status extension) to travel outside the country and back?

I would greatly appreciate your input.

  5. Hi,

I originally obtained by conditional GC through marriage on June 2011. Its time for me to file with USCIS again to remove my status. From reading different discussions, it seems the waiting time for the interview, once the i-751 is filed, can vary from a few months all the way to a year. I am filling with the Vermont Center. Could anyone please let me know, based my time of application, how long can I expect to wait for the interview and what happens if they schedule my interview after my GC expires in June 2013.

    THanks,

  6. I am an US citizen (through marriage a few years ago). I would like to bring my parents and my little brother to the US. My parents live abroad and my brother is under 21 and is currently living in USA on an F1 student visa. I would greatly appreciate if someone can provide some information or links on how to start this process; and also:

    1. how long does this process usually take?

    2. do i have to petition for my parents first and have them petition for my brother or can I file all the petitions at the same time?

Thank you in advance for your help

  7. Oh I forgot, I have some questions.

Do you guys know if I need to go to the social security office and get a new SSN? I got mine from when I was a college student student.

The officer told me that I can apply to remove my conditional permanent resident status in 2 years and apply for citizenship in 3 years. does the 2 and 3 years start counting from the day when we got married or from the day of our AOS interview.

    Thanks!

  8. My wife and me got married a few months ago. She is a US Citizen and I came as a Student. We will have our AOS interview this Wednesday. Can anyone please tell me how the interview is like, give me some examples of questions they might ask and what else to take to the interview as proof of our marriage. So far we are taking about 20 vacation pictures of the past 2 years we've been together, joint car insurance doc, joint bank account statement, joint phone bill and apt lease. We don't have pictures of our wedding because we got married in a courthouse and did not have a reception.

Thank you very much for your help.

  9. I came to the US as Student. My wife and I just got married and we are about to file for my AOS. I know that for the I-864 affidavit of support I need to attach her 3 most recent Tax returns. We had a problem with our mailbox and we haven't received her W2 from last year so we haven't filed her 2010 taxes.

My question is: is it ok if we send the I 864 with her 2009, 2008, and 2007 tax return transcripts since the 2010 tax is not due yet? We might have to wait for 2 more weeks to get her new W2 and I want to file for AOS as soon as possible.

    Thank you!

  10. This is not in regards to your original post but a few thoughts:

    1. How long have you been in the US prior to marriage? (this would be a possible issue if the time was short, but not an issue if you have been here for a few years already.)

    2. Does your F-1 have a home-rule stipulation?

    Good luck!

I have been studying in US for 3 and a half years we dated 2 years before getting married. I'm currently doing my OPT.

What do you mean by Home-Rule Stipulation???

  11. My wife and me got married last month and we are filing for my adjustment of status. I came in as an F-1 Student. I would appreciate if you could help me with some questions I have about the forms.

    1. On the form I-130 line 22. (Your relative is in the united states and will apply for adjustment of status to that of lawful permanent resident at the USCIS office in:). We live in Atlanta, Georgia and we will file the I-130 together with the form I-485 to the Chicago POBox. Does anyone know what USCIS office I have to put on that line?

    2. Where does the notary stamp goes on the I-864 Affidavit of Support? Right next to the Petitioner's Signature?

    Thank you.

  12. ***** PRAISE THE LORD ! ! ! ! ! *****

Today my husband & I had our interview for our ADJUSTMENT OF STATUS and we got approved!!!!!!!!

ALSO... "THE INTERVIEW WAS LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES"........ :wow: :wow: :wow:

TRULY the lord is good. We had so many fears about this but he only asked us 5 questions :)

We had over a hundred photos and lots and lots of paper work, but he never asked us for any other than a joint statement from the bank.... :star: He said we will get our card in 7days, we signed a sheet, and he said "Any other questions?"

It took 15 minutes to drive there, we waited for 15-20 minutes and we were in and out .... IN LESS THAN FIVE MINUTES :P

WE GOT MY WORK PERMIT, TWO WEEKS AGO, AND MY SOCIAL SECURITY, LAST WEEK.

My wife and me got married last month and we are about to mail in the forms. Do you remember what supporting documents you included in the envelop you mailed to USCIS???

  13. I'm currently an employed F1 Student doing my OPT. My wife(US Citizen) and me got married last month and we are about to file for my AOS. I would greatly appreciate if someone can provide answers to some questions I have.

    Questions:

    1. Should I mail everything( I-130, I-485, I-765, I-131, I-864, sealed I-693, the 2 G-325A, and all the supporting documents) in a single envelope to the PO Box in Chicago, or should I mail each one of them separately to different USCIS offices?

    2. Does my foreign birth certificate has to be translated and signed by a certified Translator and Notarized?

    3. Does any other forms and supporting documents need to be notarized?

    4. How many passport size photographs from my wife and me need to be mailed?

    5. I heard that for the Affidavit of support, my wife has to obtain a letter from her employer stating her income. Can we just send a copy of her job offer letter with her salary stated on it (its less than a year old)?

    Thank you so much.
