  1. As an LPR, you can file a petition for your unamrried child over 21 at any time - it doesn't matter if she is inside or outside the US. However, your child cannot stay in the US. Your child will have to go home and wait.

    It takes 5-6 years for an LPR to petition for an unmarried child over 21. It would not be fair for the child who arrives in the US on a visitor visa and is able to adjust to jump ahead of other people's children who are outside the US.

    LPR can file petition only after 5-6 years of being LPR? That's what you mean, right? How long does it take for a child to wait?
