Hi there, I sent the AOS package for my wife about 3 weeks ago, it was received about 3 days later (may 5 to be exact at the Chicago lock box).

Up till this very moment they have not cashed the check and we have not received any form of electronic or paper confirmation of receipt.

I called today and was told to wait 30days before they can tell me what to do.

My question are: 1, Is this normal time frame?

2, what can I do now that it seems they have lost our file?

Can anyone in the Nigerian forum point us in the right direction regarding type of birth cerificate is accepted at the embassy and where to get one.

She currently has one but how do you know if it's the right one. I have heard of short and long one..confusing

It seems my finace has a short one but where do we get the right one and how do you know when you have the right size?

When you go to http://nigeria.usembassy.gov/immigrant_visa_forms.html, you are not able to click on the link for the K1 forms (packet 3). So far I have taken care of Medical and Police issues. My question is what specific files are included in Packet 3 and 4 because I can always get them online once I know the file name or number.

So in short, I have the Medical, Police cert and I-134. What other specific forms do I need?

Also, does the co-sponsor use I-134 or I-864?

Hello VJ members, I have a K1 interview coming up in Lagos soon. Kindly point me in the right direction as to what and where to get all the forms I'll need for the interview.

Also, for the affidavit of support, do you use I-134 or I-864? The petitioner is filling an affidavit of support but we are also using a co-sponsor just to be sure.

Ok, I have a two part question: How slow or fast does the NVC operates? My petition was approved on Jan 31 and as of last Friday (02/11/2011) all I have is the NVC case number. The file is yet to be sent to the consulate. How long does this part normally takes?

Second question: I was unemployed for couple of yrs hence I did not file taxes, but since August of 2010 I have been gainfully employed and making more than the required income for a family of 4. Do I still need a sponsor or will my pay stubs and letter from my employer be enough? Basically, is it the prior income that matters or the present income?

Exactly, this is a common mistake, call them on Monday and they will make the corrections for you. Don't loose sleep over it. Good luck.
