Hey, I got married in Texas last august and I didn't have a social security number. You only need your passport to get a marriage license from the court house.

  3. Hello everybody! I'm going to use your help again. I am a K-1 visa holder, i married my husband last Saturday and we are working on the AOS package.

I'm just confused about the I-693 form. I got all the vaccinations i needed before my visa interview and i know that i'm not required to have another medical examination since last one was very recent, but do i still need to go to a civil surgeon to complete the form?

    Thank you in advance!

  4. Hey guys, I was just going over the final things with my fiance before his interview on this coming wednesday. Do we need to fill out anything on the Medical exam paperwork? or is that all for the doctor to fill out? When in doubt i just do one of each, lol...have him fill out the top section on the first page and take a couple extra blank copies. I'm sure someone out there knows the answer to this question.....quick responses are appreciated due to the fact that the interview is on WEDNESDAY!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Its finally here!

I only read somewhere here in the forum that you don't have to do anything with this paper and the doctor is going to fill it out but exactly like you i'm bringing it with me and i already filled out the top section!!

  5. Yes, the medical team at Istituto Varelli will tell you to immediately go submit the exam results to the consulate. But since the consulate is closed on July 4th then just take it with you the following day (day of interview) no problem.

In my case, as well as all of those who had their med'l that day with me, have wasted taxi money because that day was an American holiday and each and every one were instructed to go submit the results right after.

Thanks everyone! And thanks Jalie, you always make me feel better! :)

  6. Hey guys, they scheduled my interview for the 5th of July. The medical is normally the day before but the day before is the 4th of July and the Consulate will be closed. Do you guys know what they normally do in this case?

I tried to call them but they told me that i have to call the Visa office only on Tuesday but i don't have time because i gotta change my train ticket today if i don't want to pay extra money.

  7. I would try calling the embassy and see why you got pushed back. In our case we had all of our information ready and i called the embassy and got pushed up at least a week. I found the folks in the Lithuanian embassy pretty accomodating. Good luck

They called me again to push me back one more time and now it's not June 29th but July 5th, so i called the visa information service a couple of hours ago paying again the 15 euro fee just to hear that they don't know anything and they can't do anything.

  8. OH NO!!! I just read this after posting on your wall :( I would be pissed! Hopefully my man doesn't get a call too because he is scheduled for June 22nd and is booking his flight tomorrow. Did you have your flight already scheduled? I hope not! SOOO SORRY !!!!

Sorry, just saw your comment here. Yes i was going by train and i already had my tickets for me and my friend. I gotta go and see if they can change them. Don't worry, they didn't tell me the reason but i think they only had problems for that day. I'm such a lucky girl! :)

Ale, it's but human nature to be frustrated, I'd be totally irked and be cussing and swearing if it happened to me. But... if you take it on a lighter stand, say God must have something in store for the both of you hence the delay, then you'd feel more relaxed and hopeful. I can say this as I had a somewhat similar experience (I bet it was worse) and it's only now that I'm able to decipher the message of those delays or hurdles. I wish I could go back and would wish fervently that my visa will be delayed even more to give me ample time to prepare everything that is to be prepared before leaving everything that I have come to love and cherish for all those days that I have spent in my beloved Italy.

I have read cases much worse than yours and mine, years of waiting on their visa journey and eventually got approved. Just a proof that everything has its TIME.

Thanks! I know, i feel a little bit better today and i have so many things to do before i leave so i can use this time here and maybe enjoy friends and family for a little bit longer :)

That is very disheartening news. I'm sure things will work out just fine. Just try to keep yourself preoccupied and keep your head up!

Thanks to you too! :) Yes i'll try to keep my self busy!

  9. So they called me from the Consulate of Naples to tell me that my interview scheduled for the 1st of June was cancelled and the next available date is June 29th...this is getting insane! I'm sick of all this, we filed the petition in september, we waited 7 months to get our NOA2 and as if it wasn't enough now they make us waste one more month...i'm so pissed right now!

  10. Since y'all are so helpful i have another question! I'm just looking at tickets and prices and, as you guys already know, a return ticket is cheaper than a one way ticket so i would just buy the return ticket and never use it.

I read here in the forum that the immigration officers at the POE don't care about what kind of ticket you have but would it matter if my return flight was scheduled only for one month later?

It's just that it's something like 200 euro cheaper...

  11. Ale, the Nulla Osta serves only if you marry in Italy. It is not required for the K-1 visa interview.

Thank you! :) That makes me feel better! I read that getting married in Texas is pretty easy, you just need a valid I.D.

The same guy also told me that my police certificate needs to be legalized ("apostilla"), i didn't really believe him but they are doing it just to be safe.

    Thank you all again! :)

  12. Hi everybody! My visa interview is getting closer and closer and i'm getting paranoid!

I went to get my police certificate and the guy there told me that if i want to marry a US citizen i also need to get a "Certificate of Freedom to marry", (he called it "Nulla osta dal Comune"), something that can prove that i have never been married before. Is that true?? On the instructions they only talk about "Termination of marriage documents".

    Thanks in advance! :)
