  1. No, it doesn't have to be an original copy, but definitely make sure you have tax transcripts otherwise it will hold things up as it did for us. My hubby has to return this info tomorrow. Hopefully, that will satisfy all of their requirements and our case is approved.

We are in the process of getting prepare n wanted to know if US embassy in Accra will need the originals or copies of the tax transcripts?

  2. Well last month I was in Accra for my hubby's interview and the security guards at the embassy didn't allow me to even enter the embassy for the interview . Truly, I can't fathom why it was an issue to go to an interview that I should have been part of. I didn't press the issue about not being allowed to enter. But, you may want to inquire with the embassy before hand to see if they will permit you to be there. The actual interview is out in the open where the CO is behind a glass and they interview ppl through the glass. I know that b/c the day after the interview I went to inquire about the additional info that the CO requested (tax transcripts) from me. Best of luck....blessed

  3. I want to know from others that have come from ghana to u.s. what airline they used to do so? :help: Want to prepare for the day/time when he finally gets visa approval and we're hoping and praying that there are no major delays on the upcoming date. Am seeing that the cost for a one-way ticket is MORE than round-trip? Realistically, most vj members had to return 2 or more times . So, we r preparing for the best, BUT know how things ARE at Accra embassy. Any info about flights/airlines is much appreciated.....blessed

  4. :wow: GOD is GOOD! Hubby and I received our notice of an Interview date for September!!! I know that I know that God orchestrated the way this played out. Literally, I am supposed to be going to Accra in the next couple of weeks and was stressing over a few minor details. I set my alarm clock through my cell phone and this morning it goes off as usual and I go to hit snooze and I see I have an email!!! Upon further investigation I see it's from NVC. I jumped up and checked to see if I were DREAMING!!! Then as I open the email further it says the email was also sent to hubby!!!! Now, I have to reschedule my trip to have it coincide with the interview date!!! To all my Ghana filers, the journey to get to this point has been an eye-opener to say the least. But, please, please KEEP the FAITH! That is key in this difficult journey. I am so happy that things are happening for Ghana NOW!!!! Your time is coming!!! Blessed Luv
  5. I am so happy for your interview date. It is really good news to read that there is someone who's been waiting a while too, to get a date and so soon! God's Mercy and Grace is always sufficient. The way in which it happened is truly God,k. HE makes a way even when we think there is no way. :wow: My husband and I continue to pray for our date as well as others associated with Accra...Blessed

  6. @Darnell, wb7985, and zeebee:

I think dat more staff is definitely needed since there is always a backlog. And, wb7985 the word frustrating is definitely an accurate description about things at da embassy . And zeebee definitely the statement on da website tells us no more about what's "really going on" than it did without a generic statement! All of u r right on da money,k....so, da journey continues

  7. Bottom line - there is nothing we can do but to wait.

I understand we all have to wait, however that never means that we should just do or say nothing about the serious problem in Accra. For most of my career I have advocated for those that are voiceless or disenfranchised. I guess it's just in my nature to "do something" even if it only means writing a letter to voice my concerns. :ot: Believe it or not, but politicians respond even if it is only to win votes or elections. :ot2: I think about the many movements that have helped to effect and shape this great country of ours(U.S). If no one ever had the notion to do "something" then perhaps they too would still be waiting!

I am very happy and elated for those whose visas were approved! It gives all of us hope about our own situations. So, while we are waiting some of us will continue to make our voices heard about the backlog. Blessed!

  8. Here is a link to a statement from the Accra Embassy pertaining to the current backlog there:

http://ghana.usembassy.gov/visa_applicant.html. I am perplexed by the statement since it really does not shed any new light on why there is a current backlog and what actions are being taken to address the matter. Really, it seems that people are complaining and they are not DOING much to make the situation better. It is going on 14 months and we are still in the dark about what's going on with our case. And to make matters worse, the NVC.....well, you all know the routine.....same ole same! I am not saying that progress has not been made for some, BUT for the overwhelming majority of Accra filers, things are moving at a snail's pace. I know that it is not just me waiting, either. There are countless others on VJ as well as those not on VJ that are waiting. We should continue to expect the embassy to resolve whatever issues that currently exist and/or contribute to the ongoing backlog. We pay the visa fees like anyone else that files, so we DESERVE reasonable processing times. This 2 or more years wait time is CRAZY. For those USC's, there is a website called www.congress.org where you can send letters to our politicians including the U.S.President/VP. Perhaps, it's the only way that our "complaints" will be taken seriously.:help:

  9. The DOS page is not set up for anyone to start a comment even if you Like the page. We just comment under the most recent comment on the page. Below is the most recent comment someone received from that page regarding the Ghana situation:

U.S. Department of State: Consular Affairs wrote... @Debbie Consular sections work with the National Visa Center and the Kentucky Consular Center to develop their schedules. They try their best to put the schedule together based on workload requirements, personnel resources on hand, etc. ... I know you and others conti...nue to be incre...dibly patient while waiting for interviews. There is heavy demand in Accra, as you know, and also a high-fraud environment. All I can tell you is that we are aware of the backlog, we are looking at steps to alleviate it, but that it may take awhile due to resources. The CA Facebook team continues to read your comments on this and pass them on to our colleagues. Thanks for continuing to give us your feedback.

R u familiar with congress.org? It's a website where you can leave letters to congress members in one's district or even to President/VP. I read a couple of letters that were sent to Pres. pertaining to ghana's backlog. You have to register to be a member and to write a letter. But, you can view letters written on various matters including "immigration". You referenced that the DOS discussed the "heavy demand and high-fraud environment" in Accra. What about the other "high-fraud countries"? Is there an extensive back-log at those embassies, too?? DOS statement is disappointing to those of us waiting for 2 yrs to be reunited with spouses/family....

  10. Um, the two people I saw were in an NVC thread for IR-1/CR-1 applicants. But they weren't from Ghana. I posted that message before the OP specified for Ghana only.

And using the immigration timeline function, the last interview for Ghana was April, not February, for IR-1/CR-1 applicants. But of course, that's only taking data from those that keep their timelines up to date, so their might have been others. Plus, you have to keep in mind, not every single person emigrating from Ghana is on this website, so I'm sure there have been more interviews since April.

The april interview was for someone that was coming back for a 2nd interview. I believe that they had another interview sometime in november or so and were asked to return. There is also one more person who has a 2nd interview on 6/15 that had previously had an interview back in March or April. Accra is moving at a snail's pace compared to most other countries that I have seen on here.

  11. You're obviously not looking hard enough :P I just saw two people scheduled today for interviews in one thread alone. I'm sure there's a whole bunch of others that were scheduled today as well as this previous week.

And if you're going through Ghana, if I remember correctly, it's a long wait to get an interview from case completion, almost a year if I'm correct.

The 2 ppl u saw r k-1 visa filers not IR/CR-1 filers  The last time a IR/CR filer had an interview was back in February : :bonk:!! Accra is ridiculously slow and they don't seem to care about doing anything about their backlog .

  12. I simply cannot fathom the real reason for the extreme delay at Accra. Something is simply not right at that place. Ghana is the only country (besides Mexico) whose wait time is delayed. There is a major problem there. The REAL problem is that they seem not to care about those of us that are waiting. We are paying the same cost/fees as others but receiving extremely poor service. It is unacceptable, but complaints are useless if those in charge refuse to do anything about the problem. Ghana is not the only country with "high fraud numbers". It's poor management, mismanagement, or just simply they don't care about how they treat us.

  13. Try bt-store.com,delta.com or wholesaletickets.com to see the difference in airfares. Congrats on atleast having an interview date . I know 6 months seems far away, BUT half of the year is almost over. The accra embassy seems to be chaotic b/c there are alot of us IR/CR-1 filers still waiting for an interview after having waited a year or more ! To date our, case has been completed since May of 2010 and we have not heard anything. I am noticing that it's still the same for others whose cases were completed b4 ours. You are lucky in the sense that atleast you have a date for which you all can plan and prepare. Some of us are still in the dark in terms of where things stand at all after waiting for soooooo long :wow: Hang in there!

  14. I am seriously wondering if the NVC is legally required to give an interview within a certain time period? I googled this question but found no specific answer. Does anyone know if it is a legal requirement? I have noticed that most previous cases on here were scheduled an interview within a 12-14 month period. Our case has been completed since May 2010 and we're thinking that our time for interview is sooner than later! But I haven't noticed any upcoming interviews for May for IR/CR-1 filers. Has anyone gotten an interview for May or June at Accra embassy??? :help:

  15. Yup...it looks like your case was completed on May 2010..right?. well hopefully we both are due next for an interview date. God is in control.

Yea still not a word though case has been completed since May 2010. I am wondering if there is a requirement for them to schedule an interview within a certain time frame. It seems that most previous cases were given in an interview within a 12-14 month period? Is that still the case?
