  1. Hi everyone

I got y GC about a month ago, I have a sister who is living in Germany studying her PhD there. I was wondering if I want to invite her to visit me over Christmas and New Years what documents do I need to send to her? has anyone had any experience with this?

I will send her an invitation letter (from my husband and I), a copy of our marriage certificate, a copy of my GC and a copy of my husbands drivers license (or birth certificate). is there anything else I need to send her? she will be funding herself so I don't think I will need to send bank account info or anything, do I????

  2. Hi everyone

I had my interview today, it had been 3 months since we sent our whole package in.

we went to the immigration office at 10:15, out interview was scheduled for 10:45. so we waited in a room full of people waiting for their names to be called. I got called in at exactly 10:30. Once we got there he asked me everything that was already on the forms we had filled out (like names, numbers, etc) when he asked me the address I told him it had changed and he asked what the last address was and I said it was my mother in laws house, when we moved back from Korea we stayed there for a while till we got our own place to live. When he heard we had lived in Korea he was so surprised and excited, we got to know that he was actually Korean and had moved to the states in 1985.

so after that he just went through the docs I had brought and just pulled out the part with "proof of ongoing relationship" and put it in a file and said OK i will go through all this and let you know how it goes. so we thought it was going to take another couple of weeks and we have to wait again, so we all just started talking about living in Korea and things like that. when we were leaving his room I asked if something would be mailed to us or what? and he said yes your green card will be mailed to the address you gave me.

we left the immigration office feeling really happy, but we were still unsure if I had been approved or would they be checking it again. a couple of hours after we got home I checked the USCIS website and our status is "card being processed"

we're soooooooooooooooooooooo happy. going out to celebrate tonight.

  3. this exact thing happened to us, however we don't need to travel till September, but we were really worried about it, cause on the website everything would get updated except this one, so I called USCIS and they said the EAD and AP come together on one card and maybe they have forgotten to update that other one. she told us to make an infopass appointment, so we went there the next day adn they guy said they have both been issued and we will get it in the mail with in two weeks. the next day it was in the mail...

hope it works out for you. dont try to expedite it over the phone, we did that and it didnt work.

  4. Hi everyone

so FINALLY the wait is up for me and my husband. We have our AOS interview tomorrow at 10:45 in Colorado. today I was taking a final look at the documents they have asked us to bring. I have put a BIG packet together of EVERYTHING. The only thing that worries me is that I am not on my husbands bank accounts. I do have a credit card from one of his accounts, but that's it. I have gone to the bank several times and they wont allow me to open an account or to get on his account yet, they keep saying they either need a state issued ID or my Green Card. so I will explain this tomorrow if they ask, but Im just wondering if this is going to make trouble for us.

I mean, we have LOTS of proof of our relationship: the house lease we are on together, tickets of travels we have gone to, pictures with his family and friends, letters and emails from family and friends, marriage certificate, our wedding invitation card, our wedding website and where we were registered... and so much more. so I am hoping that this bank account thing doesnt hold us up.

has anyone else been in this situation before???

  5. I was told at my infopass meeting that if I am approved at the interview they will put a green stamp in my passport and I can leave the country and come back on that. If you are approved and get the green stamp in your passport you can travel and come back with that, you won't need the AP or the actual GC. that green stamp counts as your GC untill you get the actual card in hand. so you shouldn't have a problem, but ask them at the interview just incase :)

good luck on your interview, please let us know how it goes, I have my interview on August 9th...

  6. thanks for the reply. I did apply in May, but I got an RFE which kinda put everything on hold for 3 weeks, until they got my RFE in June 16th. I dont know if my AP was also put on hold or not, the USCIS website only showed that my AOS was put on hold until June 16th which they started reviewing my evidence request documents. so that adds 3 weeks to my process.

I really hope it all works out.

  7. Hi everyone

I want to know how long after they have received my documents or AOS will my interview date be?

we filed for AOS and got NOA on May6th, a few weeks after they asked us for request of evidence, they received that on June 16th and since then the status has been "Request for evidence response review".

I want to know when might my interview date be?

My husband and I have applied for a AP at the same time as the AOS, and we have planned a wedding in September outside of the country. My family is constantly asking if I will get the AP in time or not (as they have spent lots and lots of money on planing the wedding and both families have spent lots of money on buying tickets and all that).

They were constantly asking me and so I was getting very worried that I might not get it in time, even though it's only been a little over a month since we applied, so I called the USCIS today and asked them to expedite my AP, she said I will get a response with in 5days. I really really hope this doesn't mess up my case and put the whole thing on hold again. What f I don't get the expedited AP and I can't leave???

and if I do get the AP, is there a chance that my interview might be in early Sept when Im leaving for my wedding????

  8. Hi everyone,

I am in the same situation as you all were, I just looked at the dates and noticed your posts were from 2 years ago, but I am still hoping I could get some answers.

I applied for my AP and my I-485 (AOS) together on May5th, we have planned a wedding ceremony in Turkey in September, but I was very worried that my AP would not come by then and that both families and us will be out A LOT of money. so I called the USCIS today to ask them what the criteria for expediting the AP is (I wasnt planing on doing it, I just wanted to know how it works in case I need it), but the lady I talked to just took down all the info and said I will send your info to the main office and you will have an answer with in 5days.

Now I am worried if this is going to mess up my AP that is already being processed and if the whole thing is going to be put on hold if they ask for more evidence.

I don't know what I should/can do now. should I just wait and see how it goes, or should I plan on canceling the wedding, which means we would lose lots of money anyways.

would I get the AP in time??

  9. Hi everyone

I am sure questions similar to this have been asked many times, but I could not find an answer to our case.

we have been in the States since March 13th, we got married and filed all our paper work for AOS 2 weeks ago.

we have already planned to have the wedding in Turkey in September. we have signed the contracts and some of our family have bought their tickets.

however no we are worried that advanced parole might not come through in time, or as we saw in other posts and threads you can not get AP for a wedding, it has to be for reasons such as death or sickness or so on...

please help us, are we going to get the AP in time or not??

  10. take a whole copy of the package you had sent and try to go with your fiance'.

my fiance came with me, I had a copy of everything we had sent before my interview. my interview took 2 minutes, only 3 questions were asked, how we met, what I do, and when do I want to go. lol

its really easy, don't worry about it, like I said try to take a copy of the whole package you had sent, hope you have one.

  11. Hi

we are about to send our AOS package in tomorrow.I have a few questions, just to make sure we are on the right track

    1) Do we have to send it to Chicago? I am confused about where to send it, we live in Denver, Colorado

    2) The Civil Surgeon who gave me shots today (which still hurt by the way) put my I- 693form in a sealed envelope and handed me a separate sheet of the vaccine records with it, do I need to send this sheet in with my package or is that for me?

    4) how do we label the whole package? should we just write "Adjustment of Status" or something like that??

    3) there are only two months left on my K1 visa, the average time for AOS getting approved is 4 months, what happens between the time my AOS gets approved and the time my k1 visa expires?

    thanks for the help

  12. that was great help, thank you so much. I will start calling places on Monday and try to get an appointment ASAP. I have been in the states for a month now but we have been traveling to meet my husbands family and have not had time to file for our AOS, we just got back yesterday and are getting everything done now, I hope it's not too late. I still have tow months left on my visa though :)

  13. Hi

I am very very confused about this whole AOS process. I have filled out all the forms:

    I-864 (Affidavit of Support)

I-485 (Application to register permanent Residence or Adjust Status)

    G-325A (Biographic Information)

    I-765 (Application for employment authorization)

    I-313 (Application for travel document)

G-1145 (notification of application/ petition acceptance)

I had a medical exam prior coming to the states in South Korea (that is where we were both living) BUT I did not get any vaccinations, and I don't have any record of my vaccinations from Iran. do I need to fill out form I-693 and send it with the rest of my forms, or do they ask for that at the interview? to fill out the form do I need to get my vaccinations done first or can I wait until closer to the interview?

  14. so we are going to the states in 3 days, we're planning to take a road trip to see different parts and meet my fiances family. I am wondering if I can get a license right away when I get there, I have a drivers license from Iran but I dont know if I can translate that or not.

does anyone know if I will be able to get a license right away or if there is any way i could use my own license?

  15. Hi everyone

I had my medical exam done already but did not get any shots, and I have my K1 visa now. I was wondering once I get to the states and apply for AOS what kind of shots do I need to get, and does anyone know how much they might cost in the states with no insurance?

If the are too expensive I'd rather get them done here before I leave, don't have much time left though.
