  1. Me and my wife had our 485 interview today. The interview was so professional and it went smoothly.. I thought i was already approved coz me and my wife signed a form from the IO and it states that i have been granted 2 year conditional permanent residency.. And this afternoon, just a few mins ago my case status in USCIS website has updated saying "INITIAL REVIEW". It also says, my case is undergoing a "required review by an IO. Im worried guys! Has anyone here had the same process like this? I dont think are documents and marriage are doubtful. Everythings for real.

  2. Thank god im approved! We got there at 10am, 10:45am is our interview appt but they called us in at 11:15am, me and my wife raised our right hands and the IO swore us in. The IO asked for our Ids passports and naturalization cert of my wife then she asked basic questions like how we met, where we had our first dinner date etc. The lady looked strict and so serious, so that made me a lil bit nervous and intimidated but i kept my cool and confidence. So after she verified our files and asking questions, she asked for our photos. Good thing we brought a photo album! She also asked whos the people with us in the photos. The IO left for a bit to make photocopies of our photos and rental agreement and she asked us if she can keep the phone bills, bank statements, and we said yes. When she came back she asked our lawyer if he already told me about the 2year conditional, she gave us a form that says 2year conditional and it says im granted a permanent residency, me and my wife signed the form! It took around 20 minutes.. Finally, no USCIS for 2years lol!

  3. checking AOS timelines on VJ for new yorkers and it shows that people from November and December are still waiting, not to mention January and February filers, march filers could receive interviews maybe around August if not September.

i was hoping for july but no i don't think so.

uscis still says September 28, 2010 for i-485

    ...

That is so frustrating, knowing other filers has faster progress. I understand your concern about the long wait and i know it sucks to wait, but atleast you got your EAD and you can use that for getting a job while waiting for the interview letter..

  4. thanks everyone. I really appreciate your helps.

Currently, my husband and I rents a room. I pay monthly payment and we signed a residental lease agreement, but other than that we do not pay utilities or anything. Reading other couples have so may documents with their names on them, i really worry about my case.

Same here, we only rent a room too. We have the room lease agreement same as yours and receipts of rent payments signed by the landlord. Our interview is on june 7th and we only proofs like yours, including phone bill. My wife just recently added me to her bank acct so that adds to our proofs. But as long as your confident and the marriage is bonafide, you have nothing to worry. Just like the others say, the IO will understand coz you just got married recently.. Good luck and stay positive!

  5. guys! i just had my interview this morning.my appointment was 10:30 but was called in around 10 and was finished around 10:30 i guess... i was approved! thanks God! the interview was okay. the io didnt ask for any evidence. didnt even check our marriage cert and the rest. he just checked our ids, sworn in and verified some info on the forms we submitted. he was very nice. he understands that the marriage is new and not much evidence yet. thanks God for assigning my case on that io.. :)

to all you guys just be prepared for everything, who knows right?.. we were just thankful that the io was considerate. :)

    goodluck!

Wow thats good! I hope our interview will go smoothly like yours.

  6. Another updated... I received my EAD card today finally!!! 4 days before my interview!! I really hope is not the end of the world on saturday so i can go to my interview on monday :). I also applied for my SS. Today was my wife bday.. So we did a lot of celebrations :)

Congrats and happy bday to your wifey! Goodluck on the interview.. ;)

  7. I JUST LOVE HOW CA ISN'T THAT STRICT... jlansdklajdnaklda

when it was my turn..she was like: OK, CAN I HAVE YOUR STUFF?

then i was just start digging into my purse for more, and she was like: WHERE'S YOUR ______ and ______ <--- like I-94, PASSPORT,

LETTERS TO PROVE RESIDENCY, etc. then she asked like "WHAT IS YOUR STATUS?" then i showed her my EAD and she was like "YOU'RE IN THE MIDDLE OF STATUS, etc etc"

man i was like sweating -___- geeeeez then i showed her my interview appointment letter..and she was like: I DON'T KNOW

    ABOUT THIS, etc etc -____________________-

she even showed it to like a higher positioned man..thank goodness he was good, and i guess he had dealt with someone

like me -_- i think imma wait until i get my green card or even the stamp on my passport -_- why...why are they like this? LOL

but after that old guy spoke to me all smiley and stuff... the woman who was demanding at first was all smiley too and i was like ####### you're all smily now (in my brain LOL) aaargh -_-

i am trying next week after all this memorial day thing is done.. cause the buses are my bffs at this moment haha

Yes for some reason they are strict. But it is what its, we just have to deal with it.. California are strict too when it comes to verifying documents, but not in a complicated way though. They just want a proof of your true name and legal status and not asking for too much.

So the best way to do is wait for your green card, which is im planning to do. FYI I just applied for an ID card last monday. I also asked them what documents do i need to bring if im ready for the written DL test and they told me to bring the same documents that i showed them.

I thought going to the dmv is pain in the A but lucky me its not lol! Bus ride was worth it.. I hope they get everything right for you when you come back. Goodluck! :)

  8. lol congratulations to the people who got their ss cards today!! :D :D

i just got home from the dmv and..aksfhaslkdjlaksda please tell me what does dmv need from you when

u wanna apply for new DL??????? cause i brought EVERYTHING that they asked from the website (ct dmv)

then they told me when i got there that they need the receipt letter to prove that i have paid

for the I485 so i was like..#######?!!?!?!?!!??!?!?!!? i mean...isn't the EAD and the interview notice sufficient enough

to say that i have paid for the I485 -_____________________________-

good thing the old man was like all smiles and stuff -_- we even talked about the asian grocery store

near our place (west haven) LOLOLOLOL so i was like ...............................

and they gave me a pass so i won't take the LOOOONG line again when i get back -_- idk if i just wasted time

LULZ but oh well...it's another bus ride xD

Wow thats weird. All you need to show them is your EAD card, original birth certificate and write down your SSN on the application.. Thats what i did, and no questions asked. I even tried to show her my SSN printout form, rental lease agreement form, marriage certificate and foreign passport but she was like, "i dont need those" maybe it depends on dmv local offices..

  9. Thanks friend! Good luck on your interview.

I'll try to call SSN early tomorrow morning. I applied on May 6 and still haven't received my card yet. Can we apply for a Driver's license with the print out?

Yes you can. Actually you dont have to show them the printout, you just have to write down your SSN on the application.. They only checked my EAD card and original birth certificate. But just in case bring atleast 2 more documents showing your current address and 2 photo IDs including your EAD card..

  10. Hi guys! I was so surprised! I applied SSN last friday. I decided to come back today, and guess what... I already have my SSN, but not the actual card though.. I requested for a print out this morning over the phone ( i called directly to the local office ) and they told me just go to the office and ask for it. Now i have it and im all set for the job. :)

  11. What answer was that? If you have been assigned an SSN, there would be no reason to wait until later in the week to come into the SSA office. Unless they actually said your status has been verified and your application has been cleared to assigned you an SSN, I wouldn't get your hopes up about going into the SSA office later this week.

I already have a SS number in their system! I called again and i talked to the field office manager. She said i can go to the office today and ask for it.. Thanks for ur advice! :)
