I am a US citizen and planning to petition my mom. She does not really want to immigrate here, but her B2 visa renewal was denied recently. So I am thinking my next avenue is to just petition her.
 

I have a limited knowledge regarding the process of filing the i130, and my questions are:

1. Once I file, and lets say she went through all the hoops (medical, interview, approved) will she be granted a green card once she arrives in the US? What is the validity of that card?

2. Since she does not really want to stay here more than 3 mos, can she leave the US longer than a year? 
 

Passed my citizenship interview today. Oath-taking will be on Oct. 26. Yay!

I don't want to mess up the timeline but here's an update of my application:

07/01/16 NOA

08/02/16 Biometrics

I was in your shoes. I've started calling them since 30th day of receiving NOA passed. Until then you'll be told, that it could take up to 30 days to receive biometric notice. On 30th day of NOA you have a right to open an investigation what is wrong with your case. In my situation it took them almost 1.5 month to schedule my biometric/ I still didn't receive a bio notice, but was able to download it through their portal and do a simple walk-in bio. Manager in Elizabeth NJ was very nice and allowed to do it. So wait for 30 days from your NOA date and then start calling them. By the way, tier 2 officers are able to see was your bio scheduled or not, if you don't have online acc through https://myaccount.uscis.dhs.gov/ you can ask them to assist you.

Hi, thanks for letting me know about your case. I actually received a mail for my biometrics. No email nor text nor an update on my account online.

I have not heard anything from my case since receiving my NOA. I see everyone or mostly have their biometrics scheduled. No biometrics sched for me yet. But I was wondering though, does this statement below typically whats in the NOA:

"Upon receipt of all required Record Checks, you will be scheduled to appear for an interview at your local USCIS field office." ???

Please can someone tell me. Thank you.

Got the form I-797C Notice of Action today. Priority date is July 1st.

Hello -- finally sent my N400 on June 29th. If anyone can include me on the list that would be great.

This volunteer work she wants to do, would it normally be done by someone being paid?

Good question.. I am not sure because the school did not specify what kind of "voluntary work" she will be assigned to. She is more interested in assisting teachers or ESL teachers - but i am kind of concern since her line of work back home is education. She is a school director.

My mom is interested to do volunteer work this Fall in a school while she's here in the US under B2 visa. Is that even possible? She wont get paid of course but since its a school - they will run a criminal background check. Just wondering if this is okay before doing so.

I got another letter today for biometrics on May 23rd

Got my NOA1 on Saturday but receipt dated April 21st . Yay!

So my (wishful thinking) guess is that the receipt might be on its way to me here in Michigan. LOL

The date is the actual NOA1 date on the I-797. It arrived about 5 days after the notice date. The NOA1 date was the same date their received the petition, per tracking on the mail.

First guy on the list got his NOA1 the day after the NOA1 date, but lives like 20 miles from the CSC so regular mail is only 1 day.

Oh got ya! But when did they cashed in your check after they received your application?
