Yep, we booked ours 6 or 7 weeks before our interview, but we only had one week window to have the medical done in, as our children were about to start their GCSE's and A Levels, so we had back to back exams for a couple of months! So we had no other option really. And we knew we'd be moving straight away, we moved 10 days after we had the visas delivered. So it worked for us but as you say, everybody needs to work out based on their own circumstances and see what works with their timings.

I'm thinking of scheduling my medical now... Do you think it will matter if there are several weeks between my medical and my interview. Is it ok to book my medical while my application is in transit stage from the NVC to embassy?

 

My interview was about 6 weeks after my medical but that's only because it took me a while to find an available appointment online (I was checking every day as well). This wasn't too bad though as it allowed me to get my Covid vaccine in that time before they sent my medical file to the embassy.

 

If you can book them closer together then that would be better as it gives you more time to sort things out before travelling to the USA. I think it was advised that you should have at least 10 working days between the medical and interview but this could have changed since then.
