Hi,

I really need some advise here. I want to apply for a B-2 visa for the first time, however, I don't have strong ties and need to find other ways to prove that I won't overstay my visa in the U.S.

I'm single, no properties under my name, no kids, I live with my parents (but I'm the main provider). My income is much higher than the minimum wage in my country (El Salvador). I have 5 months in my current company, traveled outside my country by plane to South America and I'm planning a Europe trip this year (I was told traveling would help my chances).

The thing is, I don't have a specific place to visit in mind (I have family legally living in the U.S.). I mostly want to use the visa for connections to other countries and visit some family members occasionally, but that’s not my main goal. I appreciate any advice you can provide for my case, including areas I can strengthen or any tips. Thanks!

Chances are slim unfortunately, something like a 60% refusal rate for El Savador. Which family members in the US? Any that could potentially petition you or not? It’s up to you if you give it a go, if you can afford the fee then you may as well.

But if you only want to transit via the US, you could just apply for a C visa.

Thank you for replying.

OK, so none of those could sponsor you anyway which helps.

Might as well give it a go - if you do, report back and let us know how you get on. Best of luck.
