Biometrics after i751 interview?

Just had an i751 interview, everything went well.

Was told I need to update my biometrics before approval as mine have expired. Last year my biometrics was waived and they were gonna use my biometrics from like 2017 AOS.

So I guess my roc has taken so long (19 months) I now need to redo biometrics. Officer tried to book me an appointment for an ASC while in the interview and  told me the appointment will probably be a month away as no ASC has appointments right now.

Tried googling if anyone has had this issue and can't find anyone stating they've had biometrics after interview. Maybe it's a covid thing? Weird that they waived the biometrics but now want new biometrics.

Anyone in the same boat?
