I had a full-time position then got laid off in January last year. Applied for unemployment insurance and kicked in from February. Informed and stopped receiving unemployment benefits for the month of April since I had to leave the country due to a family emergency.

I started collecting the benefits again from May. In July, I got a part-time position but continued to receive unemployment benefits since I only worked 2 days a week and did not earn much to stop unemployment benefits.

Basically, my travel and part-time job made me receive unemployment benefits stretched out for a longer period until it all ran off in November.

My question is how I report in the employment history when filling the N400 due to the overlap between part-time position an unemployment benefits?

Which way do you think is correct me to fill 1 or 2?

1.       July 1, 2017 to present – Part-time position

Feb 1, 2017 to June 30, 2017 – unemployed

2.       July 1, 2017 to present – Part-time position

Feb 1, 2017 to November 30, 2017 – unemployed (period I collected benefits but, how would I show that I did not collect benefits during the time I was away in April?)
