Hello VJ,

I recently became a US citizen and i'm wanting to submit I-130 applications for both my mom and dad and have them come to the US. I'm curious about a few things:

1. If they are permanent residents of Canada but their nationality states another country, would they have to go to the US consulate in that country? or is it based on which country they are currently permanent residents of, which is in this case Canada.

2. On the I-130 form, it asks for my US citizenship number, but it also asks for my alien registration number and whether i'm a lawful permanent resident (14) and how i gained my permanent residency status (14b) for points 13, 14 and 14b on the form. Do i put N/A for 14 since I'm not a permanent resident anymore and what do I put in 14b?

Thanks in advance!

1. If they reside in Canada, they will go through consular processing in Canada.

2. The A number question is probably meant for when permanent residents petition relatives. But if you have an A number, it doesn't hurt to put it anyway. For 14a you should put N/A since it specifically says for permanent residents. 14b is probably meant for permanent residents only (there is a bar to petitioning spouses for permanent residents who themselves immigrated through a different spouse within 5 years; this does not apply to citizens), but it doesn't hurt to answer it anyway.

Also, if my parent's native alphabet is not in Roman letters but they are currently residents of Canada (which obviously has Roman letters for alphabet), what do i put in for question 20 in Part C of the I-130 form?
