Travel to Canada.

I have plan to travel to Canada in a few days by car. I just have hotel reservation, is it enough to apply for expedite passport at an Passport Agency? What if because of the bad weather, we must cancel the trip. Is there any problem with my passport (just because I told them that I would use it to travel to Canada on that day but I did not)? Thanks

1. Yes the hotel reservation is enough. Since you plan to appear in person, you do not need to write a letter explaining. Just tell the agent accepting your application. I strongly suggest you get a passport CARD as well. This card will provide an additional legal proof that you are a citizen, should your passport book ever be lost.

2. Legally speaking, you are swearing that all the statements on the application are true. If you say you need a passport expedited, but don't actually need it, this would be in conflict with your affirmation. That said, I would not expect anyone to check up on you. The State Department issues passports while Homeland Security manages the border crossings.

Since I will change my name, will Certificate of Naturalization along with Name Change Court Order serve as both proof of US Citizenship and Identity? (I can't get my Driver's License changed before apply for passport) If not, is there any suggestion about what document I should bring to apply for passport given all of it bearing my old name). Thanks

I don't think you will have any problem at all.

If I am not mistaken the name change order will show your previous name. That + drivers license is plenty.

My mother did her passport application at the post office last week, and the clerk never even looked at her license.
