Tried to find an answer but guess my question is too particular, appreciate any help you can provide!

So in my Birth Cert I have 1 first name AND 2 last names like most hispanics.

At my AOS interview (H1B to LPR by marriage), the IO asked me if I wanted my GC to show only 1 last name, which I said Ok (more simple to me in the US).

So got my GC with only First and Last name. All is good for past 6 years. All my ID's, bank info shows only First and Last Name as GC

Now filling out N-400. Got to question 2(1) and 2(2).

Question:

1.- What is my legal name? the one with 2 last names on BC or the updated 1 last name one on my GC? I don't want to change my legal name if I don't need to, but I am not clear on what legal implication did the name change have at the AOS interview.

2.- Now, if my legal name is indeed the one on BC and therefore different from the name on my GC, what documents should I send along with my N400 to support that I legally changed my name? which I don't think I did because AOS is not done as a judicial proceeding.. and basically I don't have proof of this, since the IO did it there at the AOS.

Hopefully the "N400 document checklist" is intended to other cases of Legal Name changes and would not apply to me, but I don't want any unexpected RFE or other delays because I did not include any supporting documentation. Is it better to attach an explanation or something?

Thanks in advance for your help.

My green card lacked my middle name and it did not cause any issues. It only appeared on my birth certificate and my UK passport.

I would list your full name on the first name question. On the second question (what does it say on the GC?) just list exactly what it says on the GC.

You may want to change your legal name at the oath ceremony. As you know, this can be done without additional cost during the N-400 process.
