DR - K1 Interview Schedule Process

Hello tod@s!

Does anyone know how the DR schedules the interviews? AND if his DS-160 has to be submitted before an interview is scheduled? I know we have to take the printed completion bar code sheets to the interview, but I thought I had read someplace that they wait for the application to be submitted to schedule the interview.

Any info is helpful. Thank you!

Hi AnainAmerica,

Please read the information in this link from the Santo Domingo Embassy Entirely! and Thoroughly!.

http://santodomingo.usembassy.gov/iv-new_process-k1_steps.html

It clearly explains step by step what to do to schedule interviews for K1 visa in DR. I am sure that if not all, most of your questions will be answered. If you have confusion on what the link says , let me know. Also, I have copied and pasted that info below. But I do recommend you to surf around and become familiar with the Santo Domingo Embassy website. It contains useful information.

The below was extracted from the Santo Domingo US Embassy website.

Steps to Schedule a K Visa (Fiancée) Interview

After your petition for a K visa has been approved by USCIS and sent to Post by the National Visa Center, you will receive notice from the Consular Section at the U.S. Embassy that your case is ready for interview. Once you receive this notice, follow the steps below to fill out a DS-160 application, pay the K visa fee, and schedule appointments at the Visa Application Center (VAC) and the U.S. Embassy.

New Steps to follow to apply for K visas:

1. After you receive notice that your case is ready for scheduling, fill out the DS-160 application form online at https://ceac.state.gov/genniv/. You must answer all the questions. If your children are applying for a visa with you, each one must completely fill out the DS-160 form online. You must present the print out of the confirmation page, which contains a series of bar codes, and present this confirmation sheet at the VAC and the Embassy on the day of the interview. We suggest you keep a record of the Application ID displayed on the top right-hand corner of the page in the event you need to access your profile.

2. You need to create your profile/electronic account at ww.ustraveldocs.com/do. After completing your profile, choosing a delivery location, and selecting the correct visa class, you will be directed to a confirmation page that lists the visa fee amount due. Please print this page and take it to Banco Popular Dominicano to pay your visa fee.

3. Pay the K visa application fee, the equivalent of US$265 in Dominican pesos, at any branch of Banco Popular in the Dominican Republic. This one-time fee covers appointment scheduling, client support, and delivery services. There is no available option for online payment. If you are unable to pay in person at a Banco Popular branch in the Dominican Republic, a friend, relative, or representative may go to Banco Popular and pay in your stead with a copy of your CGI deposit slip. No other documentation is required.

4. Finally, return to the website at www.ustraveldocs.com/do to schedule your appointments at the VAC and Embassy. You will first select a day and time for your Embassy interview. You will then select a day and time to visit the VAC prior to your interview. Remember to arrive on time to your appointments at the VAC and Embassy. Applicants arriving more than 15 minutes before your interview time will not be allowed entry.

Wow. thank you. I do need to read through everything more. I've been too busy with work to be on top of everything, unfortunately. But he's waiting on his birth certificate to come back from getting a mistake fixed anyway, which he needs to get his passport, which we need to fill out the DS-160, which we need to schedule the interview.

One step at a time.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.
