I've heard that police clearances are taking a couple months to go through so was thinking we should order that the same time we send off the I-130. Do we need it for both me (USC/UKC) and dh (UKC) who I'm petitioning for?

Do we both only need it for the UK if I grew up in the US and have lived here 13 yrs, and he lived in southern Africa only till he was 9?

13th August 2014 Sent off I-130 to London (DCF)

Yes, only for the UK and only for dh - not you. The UK APCO police clearance took 2 days for us (total) - we used the express service a few weeks ago. I think if you don't use the express service it will still come long before your I-130 is processed. You have plenty of time for this if you start at the same time you send your petition.
