Hi,

I'm getting ready to file the N-400 and would like to get advice on a few things.

I have failed to file taxes on time in the past but have since filed all of my back taxes and am on a monthly payment plan with the IRS.

1. With the question "Have you ever failed to file a required tax return?" I should then answer "yes" right? But for the question "do you owe any taxes that are overdue?" would I then says "no" since I'm on an installment plan or are any outstanding taxes considered overdue?

2. The document checklist for the N-400 application asks to include all correspondence with the IRS if there's a payment plan in place. I have some updated documents but have to wait for a few weeks to get a letter from the state that confirms my installment plan is still in place. I want to file my application asap, so is it possible to bring the supporting documents to the interview instead? Or can I be denied the interview if I don't include them? I have a transcript showing my federal tax payment. For state taxes, all I have is bank statements and the original letter they sent me back when I got the installment plan. I guess I'm just wondering exactly what I need to send and what can wait until the interview. If I included everything, my application package would be enormous.

I apologize, my post was accidentally cut off, here's the rest

3. 10 years ago, I was stopped with a bunch of other people for underage drinking (being at a party with alcohol present). We were brought down to the police station, no handcuffs, for a few hours and later had to go to court. I did a few hours of community service. I don't believe we were officially arrested. Nobody read us our rights. So for the question, "have you ever been arrested, cited or detained by any law enforcement officer?" would I need to answer "yes"?

Then what about the question "have you ever committed a crime or offense for which you were not arrested?" would I then have to answer "yes" to that as well since I don't believe I was arrested and have no record?

Again the document checklist states that if you answer yes to any of these questions to include an original official statement from law enforcement to confirm that no charges were filed. To be honest, there were about 20 of us that were stopped and I'd be surprised if there's a detailed record of that in existence since no one was charged with anything. Do I really need to reach out to the police station and try to get something to include with my application or should I wait and see if that information is requested? Do I include an explanation of what happened?

Thank you so much for your help in advance!
