NYC AOS--enough time to renew my passport before my interview?

Hi All,

We sent off my AOS packet about 80 days ago and got my EAD/AP card about a week ago. My passport is expiring in a couple of weeks and I want to get a new one to be able to travel before my interview (not scheduled yet). Apparently getting a new passport takes 4 weeks and they will send back the old one along with the new one if you ask them to. So the question is, can I assume that I have at least 4 more weeks before my interview? Looks like for a lot of NYCers, it's been about 180 days from the sending of the packet to interview.
