Lost at sea- quick one, when did London start accepting student visas and how do you know that..... they seem really shady about it, their response to me was

"she needs to be in the UK for 6 months on a "valid entry clearance" they didn't specify the visa type requirement

I don't know when it changed. I know that they used not to, because you can find old info about that on the internet (like YEARS old), but nothing recent saying students can't apply. I think they've just simplified things to say that so long as you are somehow living as a resident in the UK, then you're good to go (i.e. not a tourist. Students aren't tourists). They'd say students weren't allowed if they weren't.

One other thing, do you know how long it takes to withdraw an i130?

London advised they will not process the new one until they see the old one is cancelled

We overnighted the withdrawal and got a letter back about 2 weeks later confirming it was withdrawn.

We actually had an I-129f petition, and it was at CSC, so we withdrew from there. You send your withdrawal to wherever your case currently is.

They sent the letter to the UK.

I just called to check, spoke to a tier 1 (who was obviously having a bad day) and she said that it will be reviewed and a letter sent to us, however no idea how long this will take, could take a few weeks, could take a few months... helpful right!
