Mailing time for RFE

Hello All,

First, I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has posted and to VisaJourney.com for providing this forum. This has been an invaluable resource to me throughout the process and has kept me from "freaking out" about recieving an RFE.

I am posting this in hopes that it may provide others some relief if they are in the same situation.

We received our NOA1 on October 5, 2012 and heard nothing until I happened to be checking the website status and it stated that they had mailed an RFE on April 24, 2013. I did not receive a text message or email notification even though I know they have that information because they sent an email regarding the NOA1. Anyhow, long story short, we were in the same position as many others wherein USCIS said they mailed something but it had still not arrived after more than a week. Well, we finally just received the RFE today and based on the postmark, they didn't mail it until May 3rd, unlike what the status on the website said.

I hope that this helps others who have been anxiously awaiting mail from USCIS that has not yet arrived. Apparently they don't actually mail things when they say they do. However, I did make a phone call in the interim and if it has been at least 15 days since you've received notice of mailing and you still have not received, you should absolutely call them and request that they send another copy.
